david tenek doing meme coins with a quantum computer i don't know if anything is more scary
in the entire world david behind a computer or a quantum computer holy crap kato i could buy so
many more meme coins at once with and that's exactly why you won't get one so moving on we've
got tornado cash we've got the developer of tornado cash he's passing around the hat trying
to raise money for a legal appeal so tornado cash convicted of you know facilitating money laundering
good bad or others doesn't matter but now he's just like hey i want to take this back to court
can somebody please help me foot the bill for that so ibm's got a new ai engine that they're
using for fintech this is crazy because k2 has a fintech company and guess what we use we use ibm
how crazy is that we've had a partnership with ibm for the last couple years so now seeing them move
into this will knock me over with a feather i am not surprised celsius versus tether we've got celsius
shaking down tether for 3.5 billion dollars of bitcoin this is your common case of just like hey
you told us what you were going to sell and then you sell and tether's like hey dog i got my own
bills to pay when i need to come up with 850 million dollars i'm gonna do it so now celsius
is like hey pay up we want 3.5 billion dollars of your bitcoin tether's like okay can anybody
ask for 3.5 billion dollars is that the game we're playing things that we've learned in the news on
crypto twitter is that anybody can ask for anything that's the beautiful thing about our space if you
want 3.5 billion dollars if you want 3.5 trillion dollars all you have to do i like i like that one
where do i submit a request to circle and all you do is you submit an article to coin telegraph and
then they make it a headline and now suddenly you are in the middle of some sort of fight so we've got
a d gods revolution frank d god everybody knows him as the creator of the nft collection d gods and
now everyone's like oh man they're they're back like everybody was saying nfts are dead frank's
not doing anything and bro what what i love is he's bringing frank's been in the trenches with
most people know that and he's bringing a lot of the things that people like about meme coins
to these nft communities which that's that's wait a second i mean you think something as simple as
raids and like what they're doing they're expanding on it and they're making it more of a luxury version
like it's it's awesome a marketer marketing knock me over with a feather you've got to be
kidding me you're telling me that somebody's actually seeing something work in one area and
making it work in another maybe just maybe we'll see an nft revolution you know look i think frank's
gonna bring nfts back it's not gonna be just frank doing it by himself but guess what if everyone
on crypto twitter just sits on their asses and watch frank d gods try to do it with that you know
like that's the most crypto thing ever is well everyone just sits and watches one other person do it
instead of everyone getting out there and doing it themselves we could create a revolution right and
that that's why they're succeeding that's why they're making so much noise over the weekend i
mean the entire community is getting behind it and they're they're making they're making it fun it's
not just hey guys go comment this ticker on this post like they're being creative with it like that's
that's the coolest thing ever so you know what and moving forward with that you know hey web 3 gaming
does it need a steam like platform i don't know you know it'd be really cool if there was a web-based
gaming engine that came into the market that provided marketplaces for these things or if
that same engine worked with a platform that had a ton of games on it i don't know i'm just saying
things crazy talk i just read the headlines that's all i do here that's the value that i provide
and pulling a fine note we've got kamala harris kamala harris seemingly according to poly markets
david's favorite website it looks like david 10x is pumping the bags of kamala harris on poly markets
so david let me ask you this oh no cannot k2 not they are giving me a better entry for trump
that's what's going on on the poly market side of things we need to buy the trump dip on poly markets
is that what i'm hearing from you i'm buying the dip k2 i don't think this dip is going to keep
dipping buying the dip interesting interesting interesting and then in a sad and somber moment
we've got matic dropping out of the top 20 matic is no longer i saw that i saw that one coming
it's like sandeep we love you you breathed life into our projects but at the same time my
god man you need to hit up frank egods and figure out what it's going to take look i mean i i hold
blockchains to the same standards as i hold people running for president you got to pump a meme coin to
a billion that that's it that's the rule to oh i mean a poly i mean polygon has had a billion
dollar market cap meme coins no no no they don't have meme coins on polygon that even came close to
it trump look there there's no trump chain trump doesn't have his own meme coin but i think we'll get
some trump trump doesn't have his meme coin yeah you tell that to a bunch of wrecked people out there
um every time he sees well look he doesn't have his meme coin just like he doesn't know what's
going on with the super pack stuff i mean you know there's that there's that gray invisible
line that sometimes is not there a gray invisible line is it gray or is it invisible like let me i
don't it's it's both it's it depends on the angle of the light it's interpretation you guys hear
that you guys hear that you got david tennex coming here turning over a new light talking about
angles of lights and things like that on monday at the mix up okay too it's all about angles you
should know this you're you're a creator absolutely i mean i you know what i i am whatever people tell
me i am so if i'm a creator guess what today i'm a creator so this week everybody ladies and gentlemen
i am a creator um as said by david tennex so we got adidas adidas is doing some crazy things with
doodles uh you know what like and and a pharrell song hey everybody loves a good pharrell song so you
know what to me i'm like i'm like they got little wayne too and i mean the thing with that is i i think
it's so cool like they're doing a lot to really get the ip out there but it's not really having an
effect if they would have had the same thing going last cycle i mean there's a chance that doodles
could have gone higher you know what you know what makes little wayne so awesome david is that his
birthday is on the day that crypto is going to pump and go to the moon just throwing that out there
believe it or not oh man i've loved little wayne ever since he dropped that song fire absolutely and
so the creator of not in that way everybody get your mind whatever but hey you know what here's
the thing is that you know what i've always said the specific day the absolute specific day as to
when the market is going to full send and that just happens to be on little wayne's birthday so i'm not
gonna you know what you might actually know what is it is 27 i already oh my god my net worth
in the wayne's birthday september 27th you've got to be kidding me um you know i think all great
founders have birthdays on september 27th you know you know i after a while it stops being a
coincidence that's all i'm trying to say after a while it's my birthday identifies as september 27th
yeah mine too yeah you know what i think after like that you know what now that's how you make
someone feel absolutely loved oh man you know what so i am really excited to to jump into are we at
that point in the u.s yet do our birthdays get pronouns too yes september 27th thank you for
for letting us man we've got we have an awesome show if you couldn't tell by the headlines today
we've got a lot of really cool stuff to talk about and then you know we have actually one of our
favorite people on here matthew from call the void they've got some really cool stuff but you know
what makes them really cooler is that we share a cap table like we're shima babies like this is like
the cutest thing ever you know what i'm saying like we absolutely love that there's nothing cool when
you have like venture capital brothers and sisters you know um working alongside one another and they
so are we like step siblings like we got one of the same parents um yeah i mean we got ibc as well
on the cap table so i mean maybe maybe we don't have ibc we don't have ibc on the cap table no no
it's like like novocaine it's like oh you know okay you try to hold out after a while but eventually
it works every single time um but man you know i'm i'm really excited to dive into it matthew man
so great to have you here welcome to the mix up we'll dive into what you guys are working on and
call the void um in a little bit but before that we want to mix you up man how are you feeling about
these headlines yeah it's crazy um i'm always wondering if we're living in the simulation and
i'm just wondering exactly what's going to happen with the markets when the elon trump space kicks off and
um that's going to be crazy i've seen i've seen um his sort of ai alter ego doing a live countdown
space uh the guy that if you say he's he's actually elon will block you and ban you um also known as
satributes and i think he pops up in crypto space as well but this is really phenomenal we're actually
having um trump and elon doing this whole sort of weird debate thing and where it goes no one knows
but we could get more alpha on um on potentially some of the stuff involving technology i'm not
exactly sure they will even delve into crypto it's probably going to be a lot of stuff about
free speech and all the rest of it but we certainly see the mindset of the man or both of them and um
it's obvious that they're going to sort of work together and what you also don't see is you don't
see that there's going to be obviously conversations that happen potentially around and before that
we're not privy to that that works potentially in all of our bags favor i mean look the dude took a
bullet for our bags i mean what more can we ask for him do you think elon has his own agenda or do
you think he's doing this to support i think elon has his own agenda which involves basically getting
enough people to want to voluntarily move to mars and uh how he does that is up to him and i think
at some point if he can encourage people to literally get a chip drilled in their heads
and he's gonna make that he's gonna be the one person to make that happen because bill gates
certainly ain't gonna get a strict chip does he well i mean look let's be fair matthew like like
all i have to do is i'm just gonna go to google news right now i'm just gonna go to google news
right now and i everything that i'm reading on the news right now leaves me in the camp of i'm way more
comfortable now than i was five years ago get a chip put in my head and honestly if you look at the
world news right now uh they're probably a waiting list to go to mars so it's like i don't think elon
needs to do any convincing whatsoever when it comes to this stuff i just we live in crazy town right
now you know a couple years ago maybe elon would have had to twist your arm a little bit i don't
think elon has enough falcon rockets to launch people to mars right now that's i mean i'm pretty
sure that if you're chipped in some way he'll find a way to pack you in maybe you're just going to be
inhabiting one of those like weirdly lifelike robots maybe that's what's going to happen to
your brain it's going to be transported into one of those things and you'll just be folded up and
off you go but i mean it's crazy it's crazy we do live in a simulation when billionaires
threaten to fight each other on uh on facebook sadly that never happened but that would have
been hilarious it's it's like the world of memes someone left the simulation running too long and we
just jumped the shark around about the time the rambe died so who knows what's going on like the world
is full of craziness misinformation and it sometimes feels like half the um timeline has
been secretly drinking paint but at that time i think it's fun to to play in this in this crazy
crazy world and i think there's still huge big things coming for crypto you know it's oh man the
biggest letdown so far this year for me has been zuck and elon i mean honestly here's the thing it's
like you know like to like to touch on matthew's point with that one is like honestly like the
monologue between zuck and elon was the exact type of monologue you would expect from david and i
it's just like like i would expect david to say that to me is like i'd be like david i will fight
you in the coliseum and david be like kyle i will lay on you using the walrus technique in the middle
of the coliseum like that that would be a monologue that i would expect to hear on an x spaces of k2 and
david going back and forth with one another of david just like i'm going to use the wall of technique
that would be that would be right but here's the thing is that that would be a funny funny
illustration right but that was an actual conversation between two of the richest men
in the world well not like directly but i mean come on really that's kind of bullish that's kind
of like if they each had their own token i think both of them would have i mean i mean it's an it's
actually insanity because it just reminded me of that friends episode where um it was monica was
dating this rich guy and he he did this like he wanted to do cage fighting and he was just fucking
terrible at it and she ended up breaking up with him because he kept getting his ass kicked and
wouldn't take no for an answer and i feel like this is like come on if we're reusing plots from
friends to to do the rest of society we're definitely in simulation somehow and uh yeah
pretty crazy you mentioned you mentioned friends and every time someone mentions friends all i can
think of is that david is the most joey-like character ever and i think back to the episode to
where joey wrote a letter to help i forget which characters are because i never watched friends stuff to
get to be able to adopt a child and he went through and he used a thesaurus and used an adjective for
every single word in there and they were like oh wow it's so great that you had this child joey
write you a letter that's what i think it would be like if i ever asked david joey is the most bullish
character in that tv show yeah exactly this is exactly what i would if they all had meme coins
joey's his highest highest market cap for sure joey definitely represents x on this um if you look at
all of the other all of the other ones you've got someone who's more like instagram someone who's
more like tiktok and uh someone who tries to be cora um but yeah everyone's got their own horrible
sort of degen degen function in that as well i think it's really weird like being in the space you can
kind of you see everything a little bit differently in the end it doesn't sort of matter what political
affiliation and all the rest of it are we just want our bags to go up and meme coins to keep
pumping and all of that kind of stuff and that's kind of how we get into it right um but at the same
time i'm i'm really thinking like you know the world's going crazy there's a lot of stuff on there
but you know someone somewhere will pull it all together maybe it will be ai i don't know if
anyone's been keeping track of it but they've even been job interview or sort of job things coming from
um open ai saying like we need someone to work with agis which they're not even supposed to have yet
so that could be crazy agis could be out soon i think so i think to a certain degree i mean i know
with my company we've developed a technology that does interviews using ai um which is kind of cool
kind of trippy um someday i'll um someday i will let crypto twitter in on what k2 does when he's
called kyle but until then i'm k2 and we're talking about crypto stuff um but you know it's we've got a
crazy week this week a lot of a lot of interesting news we got cpi coming out right so a lot of things
that can pump or dump our bags and everyone seems to be increasingly more bullish increasingly more
bullish as to you know everyone's like it's going to be a volatile week so we also have it's like 230
million dollars of token unlocks coming this week as well which means hey you know what we could it
could dump we could get moved um you never really know so there's going to be a lot of volatility
within the market this week but that's you know what hey that's why that's why we play the game
so we've got you know we flow into trump and then wednesday is when we have the cpi information
coming out and so um and then i think we have the jobs report let me get a little rundown so with the
cpi that's what everybody's anticipating the rates getting lowered which should make the markets go up
like to simplify priced in already i mean like usually what happens is people price in what they expect
and then it dumps when it doesn't do what they think yeah so i think so like in my crystal ball
which is the most accurate crystal ball in the world because it's donald trump's crystal ball and
um that's how i know it's the most beautiful crystal ball most accurate crystal ball um and in in if there
ever was a crystal ball but um i don't think that you're going to start seeing pricing in of the um
the uh rate cuts until probably like the first maybe second full week of september um you know
because the 18th and 19th i do believe as to when they are the fmo f omc is going to be meeting again
and so i think pricing that in now would be squandering a lot of volatile opportunities to
make some money and so i don't think that you're necessarily going to see that um so i mean you've got
ppi like the inflation report coming out tomorrow you've got cpi which is the one basically like that's
the one that they use as the barometer so like we want to see that getting closer to two percent
right and um some people are like hey we're never going to get to two percent again three percent is
the new two percent um and it's crazy like you know for me i could arm myself with information
to sound smarter and smarter like if i can use more multiple syllable words than david i'm one step
ahead and so like in researching um you know and listening to these things is that because of all the
money that's been injected into the world they're wondering if like three percent inflation is just kind
of the new benchmark and if we need to retool our thinking which if they come out and basically say
that it could that could cause not necessarily a lot of chaos but um it's just a rethinking of things
so um we've got that and then but the funny thing was is like well how did someone come up with two
percent like believe it or not there's absolutely zero like mathematical like well thought out reasoning
as to why two percent inflation is a good thing it was just a guy woke up one morning he must have
been a kol and his thing no mind you i'm breaking this down into dgen terms he must have been
the kol in the finance industry and said hey two percent is good and then everyone else is good
and then all of the dgens aka other politicians and other people are like well this kol said two
percent and now it's been two percent ever since so just realize that if you are an aspiring content
creator in our audience you might be the kol that reshapes the face of the nation so um it only takes
one solid tweet and the next thing you know is that whatever number you put out could be the number
that we use be like hey 60 000 bitcoin is the new floor and then from now on it's good
only is trump onboarding kols dude he's i mean when are you going to look in your ex dms man i want to
be a kol for trump trump has been sliding in your dms since 2020 and you won't respond to him along
with a long list of other people so um you know i'm just saying david i expect very from david
yeah but i'll i'll reach i'll reach out very bearish so yeah but there's you know there's a
lot of interesting information that's coming out you know and so i'm just saying this week's going
to be evolved it's going to set up for the rest of for the rest of august my bet my bet i think this
week downward that's just me that's just me call me a bear not a really i mean things things kind
of dropped a lot yesterday i mean i was sawing seeing everybody on crypto twitter saying we're dead
again we've we've died and come back minimum 69 times since the beginning yeah we're basically
we're basically sort of like uh flip-flop jesus on this i mean like the inverse jesus we just keep
coming back i mean kill us and we just don't die cockroaches maybe i think they based the
frankenstein character off of crypto twitter like how many times he dies and comes back to life i mean
certainly got the same amount of brain power um if we're talking about the monster or the um
it can be both honestly you don't know this is crypto twitter it can be whoever you want it to
be um you know that's the beauty of crypto twitter but david my dude got a lot of fun stuff going on
this week you know what i'm saying we've got a lot of fun stuff we've got a ton oh man we we do
three years in the making uh just just just ready for it to be out there and then for us to start
doing more it's about to be a wild week for mixing i mean not not just the spaces in the markets
for us yeah i know you know it's so crazy is that um i'm going to be honest with you like we've got
some really cool stuff that we're going to be announcing tomorrow on the show we thought it was
going to be today but guess what we mixed it up because that's our name that's what we do we mix
things up and so um yeah tomorrow's going to be a big one you're not going to want to miss
tomorrow's show um because it's going to be super fun um but david you know why don't you give people
like excluding tomorrow what do you what do we have to look forward to because we've got some like
we've got a big event on friday that you're hosting oh yeah we just started putting this one together
over the weekend so we're gonna do uh we were we were calling it the mixy tonathon but that uh you
know doesn't doesn't have the ring to it so it's gonna be the mix-up ton edition three hour space
9 a.m to 12 p.m and look if this one goes good we might do it every friday but the ton ecosystem
i mean i i haven't seen many many ecosystems grow as fast as ton did we've got our games coming out
uh we've we've got something coming out for for telegram very soon and look i mean just just seeing
how that ecosystem is there there aren't that many platforms like you have on crypto twitter like
there aren't a lot of ton projects going on to the the influencer spaces not many going
on to some of the big ones so you know we want to do something big this friday three hour space
bunch of giveaways we're going to make sure that it's a good one you know matthew how do you feel
about tom i know we talked about a little bit i know i know the last time that you and i spoke
you're just like you know are you asking if i've fired up some amazon s3 servers in response to
what's going on the answer is yes so you know like you're you're a gaming dude you mean shoot you
were on candy crush's team you know that's crazy i were you ever did you ever do royal match did you
ever do royal match nope that's a different company and yeah it's it's one of the ones that
basically that basically make king envious i do remember one thing from working in king when
sebastian knutson the chief creative officer had been told that candy crush had peaked he just turned
around to the to the bd team and said well unpeak it then um which i think is a lovely kind of thing
you hear that david the new battle cry that i'm gonna have is unpeak it then yep exactly
like i'm a big i mean if you if you if you built something up for that many millions of dollars and
billions and he was i think a little pissed off that when they actually sold he was not quite a
billionaire he was just shy with about 900 million um but yeah i can i can see if you built this entire
thing up and you've got offices with slides and all the rest of it and you're taking care to be
the nicest fluffiest warmest company ever and they tell you that it's bad news you're like look at this
stuff that i give you for free um fix it um so yeah i get that but he's he's very approachable he goes
to the gym um right outside the office where i used to work as well so all good he's a nice lad
that's so man i absolutely i love so wait a second so candy crush older than royal match or royal
mash older than candy crush oh candy crush is ancient dude it was it was around in the facebook
days back in 2012 or so i mean i they probably have at least 10 10 year anniversary i have no
idea how old that game is now um but they had 10 years of king when i was there in 2014 so i mean
they've been going around a long time they started off as skill games and gambling believe it or not
um social gaming i gaming on websites and then they go into facebook games late
and they crushed it um to pardon the phrase and they basically uh then dominated facebook so hard
um that facebook banned games from incentivizing for likes and um and that sort of stuff and also
reduced all the edge weight for games thus killing the industry and thus giving rise to a shit ton of
facebook political content so it's uh basically candy crush is directly responsible for um all the crazy
shit we live in now thanks uh so it's kind of like reverse this is why we can't have nice
things is after having been given a nice thing then facebook's like no no absolutely not we're
gonna give you doom and gloom political advertising um exactly it's like that black mirror episode where
you're forced to watch yourself getting canceled um because you're just enthralled i don't know if
anyone's seen that yeah but you don't need to see that as long if you are a kol on crypto twitter
uh you can literally watch yourself get canceled it's like i don't need an episode of black mirror
to watch myself get canceled on crypto twitter uh but no i actually haven't seen that you know it's
it's so wild is that like i'm just constantly remind like i've only watched like two or three episodes
of black mirror um other than that i just hang out with david which i feel like every time someone
talks about an episode of black mirror um it literally just reminds me of my many years of
friendship with david um it's honestly just like that i mean you could you could take crypto twitter
and make a whole bunch of different black mirror episodes the stuff that happens out here is wild
you know it's interesting so you know let's let's let's dive into it because you know what like most
most of our guests like we can only squeeze like 20 minutes out of them but matthew like we you chop
it up with us in a lot of spaces man like we talk a lot but now you're in our house okay you're in
our house i don't know what that means um it sounds intimidating honestly probably more intimidating
than it really is um do i have to take off my shoes at the door or are you a shoes on kind of people
i'm not even wearing pants right now um so you yeah so shoes like sorry i no shoes no pants exactly
um you know i'm a t-shirt on up kind of guy that's just this is how it is it's very hot where i live
um and so you don't have leather sofas man that's uh that's gonna be right i'm actually sitting on
a leather chair right now and i'm like sliding right now like really just like locked in on a
table um it's just you know yeah it's a lot going on it's a lot going on honestly that was something
that we didn't really have never really anticipated having to unpack on a show um but now that it's
out there um i feel like we are closer to our audience than we've ever been um so all right man
so like tell us about like your gaming journey a little bit so like we know it at least started
in 2014 but did it start before that or like was it 2014 yeah no it was 2005 in the golden moldy days
of um ps2 around about the time the ps2s were being given away to the little brothers with the big
chonky little brother controllers i was making the kind of shovelware that your grandma would buy
for you um if you asked for a game and then she got something off the two dollar discount rack
i was making that shit so i'm probably the only person to have made and completed home alone
for the ps2 probably the worst game in existence um made mr bean for ds and um then i got a break
into jagex the makers of runescape where i started off as a artist and a 3d artist and then level
designer um senior level designer working on amongst other things runescape and um what was going to be
the sequel stelladone runescape interesting thing so little k2 used to go to the library and play
runescape like this is back like when the internet was still like not very good and i could only play
runescape for like 30 minutes a day per the rules of the library um and like you know as well as i do
like the early days of runescape like they make crypto punks look high fidelity so um the entirety
of runescape is basically why i got into this space because watching people get rugged in the
wilderness and um the amount of people spelling out various offensive things with fires in the
marketplaces scamming each other stealing things selling gold it's basically crypto twitter just with
their fancier hats i mean so like that's that's interesting thing so you know i think the longer that
i've been in gaming like so like for me i i personally wasn't in gaming until i got brought
into this project like four years ago um three four years ago three years ago a little over three years
ago um you know like and what i've learned is that it's one thing to be a gamer and then it's another
thing to be a game designer game publisher all that stuff like holy crap man it's like that part so
that's what i'm curious like i've never got to ask you about that like what where did that where did
that switch flip for you that you you know you're working with some really big studios and stuff was
it just like you hit this glass ceiling and you're like i want to jump out on my own like where was that
like you know moment where you just snapped and lost it and came over here well i mean i was always sort
of like a bit more of a passive dgen i would say i was looking at different things um i i got rinsed
by elon with the dodge coin thing when he announced it was shitty just after having bought some um look
i even bought fucking loop ring or whatever it was called that game stop fucking token i mean i was i was
in all of the worst plays on that sort of side but i mean i was working at rovio um doing like yet
another thing that was being having angry birds spackled on top at some last minute attempt to get
the cpis down and i just realized like there is no physical way with idfa and all of these privacy
controls that apple and google are not going to throttle and strangle the mobile games industry which
they did 20 revenue loss since idfa and many many companies and all of this is not just covid
it's basically idfa killing it i mean apple really prefers you and wants you to just get apple arcade
otherwise they wouldn't make the um the actual apple store impossible to find and and actually
raise up new games on it used to be a business you could pay a finnish company called fixu to get you
up the charts and getting you above the fold on those charts would guarantee you tens of millions
of downloads it was like old school tv when um you could get routinely 30 million viewers or something
stupid like that just for so so it was kind of this question and i was talking to a guy he went on
to found found jungle um and he's uh they've got some sort of i think it's some combat game arena
game and we were going to do a startup in stockholm and he let me in on the numbers of axi and i was
like you're shitting me there's what 90 day 30 retention how and um yeah i looked at axi and was like
well this is an abomination um i'm pretty sure i could do better than that and i came up with the idea
of how about if we gave away the crypto layer for free um and then just use it for the incentivization
the retention we take real fiat currency and we drive that actually to provide value to the crypto
and to force that fiat currency into the token value and then that provides the essentially an
offset for the ua cost then we have a business proposal we do free to play mobile games with free
crypto on top and we offset the ua cost by making them much more sticky so this was the idea we hit upon
and this is how mystic games was born and at the same time my co-founder was kind of finishing up
with working for three years as the studio head of voodoo games and i was about done with the
angriness of the birds they weren't angry and it was the perfect timing to kind of leap into this and
then get it started i remember the whole thing kicked up at fcc in paris it was like 105 american degrees
and i met someone from polygon from texas and um he was just as as warm as everyone else
and at that point i've i managed to chat to someone who was in with kent and machines arena and then
we assembled slowly a cap table and one point we actually turned anamoca down which was in hindsight
maybe a bad idea but then they wanted to give us some drive tokens instead of action money so
everyone thought that was a bad idea but then we started and um built entirely through beth
and now we're here we have i think it's close to 250k active users and we are building out now the
token system so that we can get up to tge get rid of all of the exploits and um we will be minting our
genesis nft very soon when you when you launched your token so i mean we oh they got a token and an nft
coming yeah so we created the v token way way way back when before tax concerns were an issue so we
have the ticker is v on polygon it's i guess one of only 26 single tickets and um we are approaching
that we did a pre-sale with paid from uh kyle chasse yeah and yeah we we did a small private sale from
there yeah it was good 160k on a pre-sale uh private sale sorry and that was when everything was
stupid dumping so not too bad quite bullish on that and we're extending the tge at the moment
because you know the market is basically a crock of and when we get that we are pushing in with
some big events we're going to have a 500k usdc competition we're going to be doing running with
some some bros um from a few other places that people might know as well that's awesome so like
it's like you so who's on who's in your cap table it sounds like we we're yeah so we've got shima
um we've got um yeah shima shima lead and 7x 7x ventures 7x are lps of bitcraft and um a few
others that we might know in space um below them we have guanxi dao 32 bit um of machines arena fame
and uh ta ventures smaller fund and we also have joe marhon who was an angel who was early into ygg as
well yeah and since then we also have had ibc we raised 1.27 million evaluation of 10 um back in
the sort of tail end of 22 and we've subsequently raised a little bit more um on top of that just to
keep things sticking over keep the lights on keep the lights on i feel you there yeah basically man it's
like being a cockroach they keep spraying us with raid and we keep coming back you know i can i can feel
that so ironically like the three-year anniversary of mac was like a week ago um so like yeah man i
feel we've been up down inside out you know twist turned yeah we we delayed the party we pulled a we
pulled a bullish web 3 move we're gonna do the party down the line exactly 100 man just keep delaying
keep delaying so like what's it like so like what's the journey been like man like you've been you've
like been around for a while man i wish we would have met a couple years ago man the we could talk
about now um but hey we're here now we're making up for lost time but uh like what's the journey been
like for you uh dude it's been insane i mean there have been some of the highest and the lowest times
i mean everything from having the nfts sort of dump in 23 and to the point where game nfts were basically
implausible or impossible to do all the way down to having sort of like um five minutes and someone
pledges 500k so there's been some really crazy ups and then watching the entire game grow from
literally a few thousand um players into hundreds of thousands of players over the matter of like
just the course of a couple of weeks and then also fighting and forking out exploits and farming
it's been absolutely mad and also of course meeting so many people like going to gdc and meeting
half the wolves and also going to token 2049 and meeting the ton people there and we have some ton
games coming as well hopefully soon ooh ton games that's that's bullish i like that very good what
what do you think about the the irl events like i know a lot of gaming companies from web3 went to the
last gdc avex actually put on a put on a master class there and got people talking like how important
are these to games building and web3 i mean i'd say they're absolutely critical like the thing is
it's not just about um the irl events but even meeting people in spaces you know a lot of people
from the sort of games industry they're going to misconstrue spaces is purely about the amount of
audience and the amount of people you get into the amount of followers that you make from it it's really
not that it's the connections you make and you make some fantastic connections both here on spaces but
in real life what you can do is you can then give context to a lot of other stuff and you find that a lot
of people in crypto twitter just want to see everyone in the same thing succeed i mean it's
maybe a different vibe from those nft events like nft new york or nft london which was only saved because
they had a room with puppies although my co-founder got like a pink eye from one which i thought was kind
of funny but you know you meet all of these wonderful people and you actually i think it's easier to get
your sort of ideas on the table and um when you get drunk with gabby from ygg and listen to him singing
karaoke in tagalog i think it also just brings a different perspective to the entire space
i completely agree with that there so what what about the whole getting a booth at the event
versus the side events and going out and drinking and dinners with people what what what do you like
that's i don't even like buying tickets do the main events even like everybody's told me the main
events don't even know unless they have a charging station that's really near the door then i'm not buying
the ticket i mean clearly like the main thing that you're fighting against is how much charge you have
on your phone and uh really the side events are are the alpha and you get invited to the side events
you make some friends invite you to another event and then if you're not getting in an uber with random
dgens and going across paris um to blag your way into a party then are you really doing it right i mean
mbx berlin no tickets going to vib and um we made a dow called pascal dow about a guy called pascal
who essentially gave up his vip ticket as we were leaving the event which would give us free drinks
so we all then had to pretend to pascal to be pascal and then get them to give you a gold vip band
anyone who could pass proof of pascal was then admitted to the dow it was all good oh man so the
real alpha for these events if you are going to do a booth and do some giveaways give away some merch
you should be giving away battery yeah for real that's the best margin also the real alpha is if you're
doing a booth just by god don't be the person to manage because that is tiring and i i felt really
sorry for the people like from pirate nation the art director who was continually sat there explaining
pirate nation to everyone for about 12 hours a day so i mean i think it's definitely more fun when
you're a free agent and you don't need a booth you just need to be around you need to meet the right
people and um yeah i think that's talking about the same thing different people every day i mean
sounds sounds kind of sounds kind of repetitive but who made who made the art for these nfts like this
this looks fire like who did that oh i think we just lost him for a second uh sorry i did all right so
let's yeah so sebastian our art director made them he was doing high quality art for vv or something
like that they do like marvel characters and all the rest of them so they're fully 3d models and so
we have actually the models with them they're all unique they all have different traits the main thing
that they're going to do is they're going to actually um store your off-chain progress and then
what that will allow you to do is level them up and sell them but the rare nfts and above they will also
give you nft unlocks in game and if the characters airdrop functions and uh we're going to partner
with um a lot of people to actually give you improved farming on other games as well so that's
some of the things we're doing with those oh man absolutely love that looking forward to it i want
to ask my about the events before we jump back over to you matt maya you you're you're at all of these
events you're literally hosting some of them what are the next big ones coming up and like the main
benefits for these companies to get out of it what what's the best way to go about doing it
hey thank you so much for having me and i did actually have a question from him too um your line
kind of cut off for me um what was the question i host events and uh what about it
what what's the best way for some of these companies out here in web3 to go about getting
involved in events and what what are the next big ones coming up what are you looking for awesome yeah
that that is actually a really good question so i um yes i do host um some of the biggest if not um
the most um largest web3 events in um globally so uh you you can do sponsorships um we are actually
we are very selective who we work with because um alpha for you guys uh we might have closed with marvel
uh for comic-con um so uh that that's the that's the caliber of people that again oh man marvel yeah
that's a that's gonna be good yeah that's a very high caliber of people that we work with but um
yeah 100 um you can sponsor events and you can um for example for um for um national what what's the
best way to do it though like a lot of people say getting a booth isn't worth it some companies like
doing it it all depends on where you are as a company but what do you think like if a company's
asking you the best way to get involved with an event do you tell them to sponsor something throw
their own event just go to the parties and get drunk with people i mean what's what's the main
what's the best strategy so yeah for me i i don't really like getting a booth because um i've asked
many founders who have done it and um the ROI isn't really that good but for example we hosted pizza
dow at our event um in nashville and we had all the like um all the nfds like in massive massive walls
and projectors so that gives like a you can make a lot of content from that and also you you you are
massive walls and um for example in art basil i don't have the measurement of the wall but something
like that is um gives you way more exposure way more content than just doing the booth at an event
oh love that looking forward to some of the events that you're going to do this year i want to go
back to matthew matthew i i gotta know more about call the void like i've been following you guys since
since i met you like you've been here for a while been building in the gaming industry for even longer
but you know what what's the tldr for call of the void everybody who out here who wants to play a game
what are they getting themselves into when they start following you guys and get into the community
essentially you're getting into like um the first of five games i mean each one of these we're going
to do four mobile games that are going to combine together to become a cross platform mmo rpg and
we're building all the systems out individually for that so each game is going to be a different aspect
of this mmo so that's the exciting part about it in the first game top-down shooter call of the void
it's got a bunch of exploration and it's just fun fast action you can play it with one hand
and i think it's really something that you can you can just know that we're going to be um supporting
this and carrying on with this for a very long time we are intending to build these as live games
that continue with leaderboards we already have leaderboards in there and we are not just about token
we're going to do a ton of nfts that will be exclusive they'll drop from bosses that will be level
designed or designed so that you don't um decrease in value from having them and um generally what
we want is we want to create a sort of community of games that will be an ecosystem our token is an
ecosystem token and that will feed this huge thing that we're also going to have telegram games on the
outside where you'll get a token that will be able to convert for void as well and this really builds
together with this idea of community coming up together so gamers all over the world whether
they're in guilds or whatever we will offer them an opportunity to earn that isn't just sitting there
and clicking and farming it's actually playing a really fun game leveling up your character or leveling
up your set of characters and then selling on that account is something we actually support we don't
soulbound things we don't make sure that you can't do stuff we're not fighting it we are trying to
support all of the old ways that anyone in runescape would have earned money from whether it's gold
farming or account selling we want to prioritize that even our nfts for the accounts when we have
all four of the games and to be able to combine all of those and burn those nfts to create an avatar
a fifth nft which gets you access to the final game and that will basically be depending on how leveled
up your crafting skill is from the crafting game that will determine what kind of character you start
off within the final game and final game is going to be a bit like web 3 room scape on acid
and it's going to have lots of stuff in there we're looking at yeah some like i like room
no man absolutely love that maya what do you have something you want to ask matt from call
the void and then after maya grim jump in and uh do the the stream announcement yeah 100 i have a
question so i'm looking um down in the audience and there are a lot of um founders here so
founder to founder um disclaimer i am building it i'm building a game too so this is really important
for me to learn from um other founders so if there is one thing that you would change if you go back
in time or you would have done it differently um in your path what would have what would that be
i think it's a fantastic question first of all and when you look back and i look at all the things we
do we try to make always the right decisions with the information that we have so going back in time
and saying what would i have done differently it's hard to say if i didn't have that information
at the time but looking back on it and seeing how the market was and all the rest of it i think what
i would have focused on earlier is i would have focused on becoming more web3 relevant sooner i think
i would have released collections even in the bear market i wouldn't have necessarily held on to that
idea of you know things always have to go up i would have actually released collections and given
people some bags to fight for and i think it's really important to be able to get yourself out
there to have been more engaged in the web3 thing from the start because it's okay building in public
and it's okay doing all of that but unless you're actually creating transactions unless you're actually
getting on with the job of integrating web3 leaving it too late i think is one of the things that's
a little bit like if you're making an android app and then you make the iphone app afterwards it's
always going to be a pain in the air so developing them together it seems worse but it's actually
better in the long run i would just say yeah i'd focus more on the web3 side i'd focus potentially
more on the community building side um early on and i think that would have potentially made it easier
for us to um to to become bigger and stronger and probably with all of the all of the things on x and
all the rest of it you need to start faster you can't just do this like build in stealth you can't
be a stealth might start up in web3 i think that's suicide i absolutely love that so that's actually
what i did so i started community building before um really like releasing a token or anything so yeah
thank you so much for that answer matt do you do you think that would have helped a lot with community
building like when it comes to uh games building in web3 is there anything better for community building
than an nft collection the games no i mean i think the token is is absolutely terrifying to do that
early it is tempting to do it early but then again what are you what are you doing on the
token other than just offering a promise and sometimes those promises could even be illegal
with the sec and all the rest of it releasing a token before you have a game is really bizarre
because you actually need to understand how the token moves around your own game first before you
even get there i'm like how do you know you've got enough sinks and all that nft collections you know
it's fascinating on that on that front is that was the the the narrative the alpha in 2021 was
basically release the token and then the game and i remember um going through our raise rounds having
a conversation with uh republic and that was something like they were the first ones to kind of
articulate it in a very sound manner to me of releasing the product and then the the token
because what what they called out then when i was speaking with them was basically what a lot of games
haven't figured out is the actual revenue model behind the game in and of itself and you know your take
like the approach that you that you kind of outline that you guys are taking is one that a lot of games
that have launched previously never really thought to implement in their in their game and so um because
i mean you have to ask yourself the question is like why does your token even exist what's the point
how do you make money um and well you know i remember there was a there was a period of time
where a lot of the team from animoco was saying that the token from these games is the product that
it's it's not the game yeah boy were they wrong if they hadn't gotten money from the saudis they would
be an absolutely sunk company but hey that's me what am i talking about why am i thinking about
animoco but anyway i mean dude i think i think in a way there is a certain logic to that um you do
have the the token should be where the value accrues in the system but the value has to start accruing
from gameplay like gameplay providing that value and people buying things and wanting and needing
your there needs to be demand from your game for your token before you can even think about demand
from external sources and that will drive your economy and that will give power to your token
great take quick one from my end guys uh since we are partner with stream and we have a stream drop
coming up they just released a massive update that allows everybody to interact with stream drop
directly from their x app without leaving or using the browser anymore on pc or mac so from now on
anybody that wants to do the stream drop every day and collect those points they can do so whenever
we drop it directly on the x app and i am going to drop it right now so you can participate to the
latest drop of the day and keep tuning in every day because we do do them every day for you thank you guys
back to you david oh man stream drop actually absolutely love what they're doing like they
make the spaces more more interactive that's something that we've been needing but matt i mean
when when when are you planning for the token in the nft collection i mean and also do i do i get one
do i get a whitelist spot matt well if you send me if you send me an evm compatible wallet we're minting
them on imx and we will airdrop you and k2 and you will get definitely one cent your wallet the nft
should be out later this week and it will be on atomico okx and sphere and that's where you'll be
able to buy with the token launch we are still discussing some various options because we want
to do this 500k event first but i'm i'm saying that we will probably be looking to push it to september
and um that's that's where i will go on that one it's not just about the market conditions it's
about making sure that we actually do it justice you know it's not it's not all about like is the
market just going to pump because that doesn't matter you need to actually break into the scene
you need to be there and you need to also have um your players ready and waiting on a fat stack
to do that oh absolutely love hearing that what what about that sale or i mean we've had a couple
of pre-sales i mean i don't want to just entirely create the entire thing of um cell pressure so we
are also kind of aware of what we want to do is we want to make sure the token is integrated in the
game we get those transactions up we get the leaderboards on the blockchain as well and then we
can actually see the demand for the token because so far um the token most of it is spent leveling
up the characters in the game and this is something that we we seek to maintain you know question for
you so you mentioned wanting to get in on telegram and stuff like that um we here at the mix-up huge
fans of taun taun ecosystem all that kind of stuff what type of games are you guys looking to put out on
telegram you know is that what what what's coming first so you know the egg we are we are definitely
doing telegram games we will after i'm just literally finishing off with the dev today um for
the finals of the nft launch we're going to be doing simulation games which is an untapped genre thus
far on ton so we'll be releasing a range of little fun simulation idle games um some of the most popular
titles that you've seen on mobile can easily be replicated or changed around on on ton and uh
i won't give it away because ton games are quite difficult to um to get out there and not be
emulated if they're successful but yeah simulation genre not big on ton but very big for a wide audience
and not just dgen games so we see a lot of fighting games we see a lot of simple clickers but we think
that uh definitely simulation is is where it's at in terms of passive easy to do very enjoyable can be
very deep gameplay we're talking to ton vc about this as well so keep you posted
oh definitely keep us posted anything telegram i want to make sure that you come talk to us about
it over here but matt we're coming up to that that point of the hour i want to give you the the
opportunity something that we usually do i mean there's a lot of people in here what's what's the
main thing that we can do to support you right now i mean the is the is the game live like can we
actually jump into it and start playing right yeah you can play it i mean like several of your
co-hosts on other spaces have been playing as well download the game it's live on google play store or
apple app store which is cool and download it join the discord and just generally enjoy it and get
ready and look out for those nfts coming up there's some big things happening in our ecosystem and if
anyone is going to gamescom i will see you there probably drunk oh man that's gonna be uh definitely
need to get out there k2 i think we need to make it out there to that one where is it when is it and
cologne the week after next um immutable is gonna be there nazara and bitcraft does all of the big
players in the space will be there i think stardust is always there um there's a lot of good stuff
coming and um it's gonna be full of web3 people i love that um you know i'm really glad that we got
to have you on today man like we get to talk a lot i like you know you guys you've been around for a
while you guys got really good insights like this is this is what the space needs more of is people
like yourself rooted in logic um and obviously i'm really biased you know um shima led projects are
honestly we're probably a breed of our own um the best you know you might as well just taking money
from a16z if that's the case um shout out to interesting warwitz you guys are awesome shout
out to shima they are definitely the ones who when they look at all the other hype projects they're
usually the ones that say no and that's why i love them so much they're the ones who turn down all
the other things that everyone's sort of crushing on and um i think this is fantastic i wouldn't say
the contrarian but they definitely have a far more long-term approach to i'd say
absolutely alex ida ori all those guys um they've been good they've been good to us
i'll be good to you we'll have to uh collaborate a bit more i know david's gonna reach out to you
we'll we'll chat we'll uh you know we'll show we'll show you a little bit what's going on under
the hood over here uh because i think we've got a lot a lot of ways that we can help one another
because we're like brothers right we're like brothers um so you know this has been an absolute
you say half brothers step brothers yes step brothers we're gonna go we're gonna go into the
crypto twitter garage and do taekwondo um because that's just what happens we just became best friends
but you know what this has been an absolutely amazing show i don't think you could have absolutely
started the week on a better note we had one of our favorite people here everybody go check out
call the void um if you couldn't help uh by listening to matthew speak not only about the project but just
speak in general this is the project that you want to get in on um because it's going to be a game
that's going to be around for a while and you know if you're a gamer you want to be able to play a game
that lasts more than three months uh that's just how things go so you know what this has been monday
we've got a big week we have a big announcement tomorrow absolutely massive announcement tomorrow
we've got an even bigger space on friday matthew would love to have you back on that one especially
since you're dipping your toe into the telegram ecosystem want to thank my co-host david brim shall i see
you down there jana thanks for coming tommy want to thank maya had some banger takes loved the
insights on the events excited to see what you're building as well i want to thank everybody for
coming out just remember we do this every single day monday through friday 9 a.m to 10 a.m eastern
standard time we bring some of your favorite projects in here and we mix them up a little bit
so that's all that i've got from now guess what everybody get out there and go touch some grass
