Mae'r cyfle yn ystod y cyfle. Mae'r cyfle yn ystod y cyfle. Okay, great. We might as well kick things off. Happy Friday GMGM to wherever you are
joining us in the world. Thank you so much to a lot of familiar faces I see and a lot
of new faces as well. It's always great to see new folks joining the community call.
So for those who may not know, I'm Claire, the head of growth here at ontology. You know,
we have these weekly calls to either do general community updates where we fill you guys in
on anything that Ontology has been up to in that week, or we invite folks that we're kind
of doing some collaborations with or that might be new to the ecosystem of the community
to do an introduction to you guys and see how the community can get involved.
So today we have Garderian with us.
Bassam, correct me if I'm not pronouncing that.
I do apologize.
So I'm gonna just pass things over.
Bassam, it would be great if you could do an introduction
to yourself and to Garderian, please.
Sure, yeah, that's actually perfect how you pronounce.
Actually, so first of all,
I need to thank you for having us here.
And yes, you pronounced my name correctly.
It's Besam.
So a quick intro about myself.
My name is Besam.
I'm the CEO of Gordarian.
I actually haven't been a long time with Gordarian.
It's been like six months with Gordarian.
Before that, I did work for a couple of years with other industry projects.
One of them is actually, if you're familiar with ChangeNow,
before that little bit I was actually more into investment banking actually. So I switched from
investment banking to crypto. So that's like about me, about Garderian. We are actually a
Me about Garderian, we are actually a fiat on-ramp off-ramp.
We have been founded since 2017.
We specialize in crypto fiat on-ramp and off-ramp.
And we also have crypto to crypto swaps as well.
So we simply bridge the fiat word with the cryptocurrency word.
We support 150 countries, 50 currencies and major payment methods.
Our major office is actually Estonia.
Our licensed are Lithuania, Czech Republic.
We also have a license in El Salvador, which is actually something
really like rare providers.
I think we're one of the few who actually had like El Salvador license, some MSBs in
US, Canada, and we are still working on Dubai's license.
It's like, it will just take a lot of time.
Yeah. on Dubai's license, it's just like, it will just take a lot of time actually. Yeah, so that's briefly quick introduction of what we do.
Awesome, Osam, thank you so much.
Your background sounds very interesting.
I'd love to ask you a few more questions,
but maybe we'll keep that for another conversation.
But yeah, thank you so much for the introduction there
for any folks that may not be familiar
with what Guderian provides.
So I know Guderian offers a wide range of fiat to crypto services, right?
So I guess this is like a relatively crowded space.
So what would you say kind of sets your platform apart from other like on-ramp and off-ramp solutions out there?
So, yeah, as I mentioned before, one of them is actually the coverage.
Our coverage is quite extensive.
I can say we support more than 150 countries.
The other things which I think that's what the user care about the most, which are the fees.
Due to our extensive connections with a lot of payment providers, you can actually, I can give you one example.
Other providers charge for like debit card or credit card, four or five percent, let's say minimum
three, best case scenario. We, for your opinion, we actually were able to drop this percentage to
1.6 percent, which is when it comes to comparing to other providers. Like 3% and 1%, that's like a big difference. So that's like more than half. So that's like
one example. The other examples, as we mentioned before, the payment methods. So we are one of the
few providers who have like payment methods like RevolutPay, which is very popular when it comes to European Union.
Also in the European sector, we have open banking, which I actually was a little bit
in shock where not a lot of people know how easy it is to use open banking, which is simply
something that will redirect you to your bank and to any bank actually in Europe and you can literally do the transfer within like
seconds if we can say. So it's like the same as SEPA but just a bit faster. We also have PICS for
Brazil, SPI for Mexico. So yeah, so that's like for the payment methods. And finally, and for me, it was actually the most important,
the number of crypto we support.
Most of providers support 100, 200 cryptos.
We support more than a thousand crypto.
And all that actually, we're not going through providers.
That's all in-house.
So yeah, that's like one of the main,
and we do have like the crypto to crypto side.
So we do crypto to crypto swaps as well.
Thanks so much for that, Basam.
We always like to hear about efficiency and any way to make it easier for folks to get
So I'll just mention to everyone now that if there's any questions you guys have, don't
hesitate to reach out to myself or to Basam.
I can direct you to their team.
Yeah, just follow them on social if you're
interested in everything that they're developing.
I know the guys are active on Twitter and also on LinkedIn as well,
which is another platform I'd recommend for you guys to get connected with,
to stay up to date on these developments.
But yeah, thank you so much for that.
Actually, that leads into our next question perfectly.
You've mentioned 1,000 cryptocurrencies cryptocurrencies I think which is obviously impressive right. Could you walk us
through how you're able to manage that while still ensuring smooth and of security you know
we always talk about that but these secure transactions for users? Yeah well that's actually
is based on like like the extensive uh development background we have.
As I mentioned before, we do everything in-house,
so every network that we actually support
has to be completely integrated,
not like through fast API,
especially because we are building some big infrastructure
on top of that.
But when it comes to liquidity, we actually...
So that's how we work.
We integrate the chain on our side,
and we already have quite a lot of,
we actually have around 15 major centralized exchanges
plugged in into our backend,
and actually a lot of,
couple of decentralized exchanges as well.
So we source liquidity from them.
We don't send requests there, but we just source equity.
So we go to centralized exchanges or decentralized
by the tokens, sort of them on our backend.
And the users, for example, he comes having crypto,
let's say Bitcoin, and he wants Ethereum.
He comes and does the Bitcoin
and we send him the Ethereum once it's confirmed. So it's like
quick instantaneous and like cross chains as well. So this is like the easiest and fast.
What I love about this is actually how it is like convenient and straightforward while also being non-custodial actually. And of course, fully compliant and legal.
So we're not like decentralized
because when it comes to licensing,
the license also cover this
like crypto to crypto swaps as well.
So that's why like, so it's falls under our AMLs,
compliance, that's all.
So if you're looking to trade crypto
from one to another chain,
while you still want to be on the compliant legal part, you don't want to go with a random
mixer or something like this, Garderian can be one of the best solutions for you. And actually,
as we know, speaking of ontology you can actually swap for example from
ontology like on the ontology chain network to bitcoin or if you want to buy ontology you can
from bitcoin or xrp to ontology. Great Basam thank you so much I appreciate you kind of um giving us
such a such a comprehensive
overview. I know what you guys provide isn't easy, so it's difficult to kind of summarise
into answering these questions when we have kind of a short time to do that in. So I do
appreciate that. I know, let's take a quick look at partnerships and integrations. That
would be great. You know, we talk a lot about partnerships. I mean, I guess this is the
reason for the call today, right, is to introduce the collaboration
to the community that maybe we haven't introduced already.
So are there any key, any other kind of key collaborations maybe that you'd want to talk
about about how Gardarian expands its services or how you could reach new users maybe through
these integrations or partnerships?
Actually, before I go into the partnerships we have,
or actually I think maybe that would leave it to later on.
I want to speak to partnerships because I mentioned before,
we've been in the sphere from 2017,
we actually have been in a lot of
major wallets and centralized exchanges and a lot of providers.
But I can mention the main ones are actually changed now.
He's actually like quite, have been a partner since like the beginning.
We have Guarda wallet.
We have Cake wallet, BitGit,, Web3 wallet, Coiniax.
We are also only like a couple of major aggregators,
before I say, like OnRamper, Melt,
and hopefully more and more,
even more interesting partnerships are on the way,
just like cooking in the back end.
Very cool, thank you so much for that. And I think, so we've just,
Ontology announced their roadmap a couple of weeks ago now.
And I think, you know, we're still,
we're still within the first few months of 2025.
And I'm always so interested to not only read about
roadmaps, but to kind of hear it from the team so interested to not only read about roadmaps but to kind of
hear it from the team and then to get like updates and milestones. So it would be great if there's
any like insights or like a sneak peek maybe you can give us. It's totally up to you if there's
features or any updates you want to share with the community would be really great to hear.
Well yeah actually that's actually what I wanted to start talking about. And then I like,
nice. Good timing. So, yeah. So, one of the major things actually, we are always open and we are
also always working on adding more and more chains, especially chains like ontology, where we actually see usability
for the end user there. So, and actually that's like question I actually spoke about with
different podcasts where nowadays we see a lot of chains with just being a chain with
no reusability. So, ontology is actually one of the few that I have been familiar with
quite a long time.
You can actually see the usability when it comes to payments, the quick transactions,
et cetera.
And I think the team, the listener here already quite familiar enough with ontology and enthusiastic
about the chain as much as I am. So when it comes to Gardarian side,
we recently actually launched our OTC desk,
which allow businesses or users to make like
big transactions between crypto or from crypto to fiat
in like big sum at the certain,
like directly or instantly with best,
with better rate than just automated APIs.
The second one is actually we haven't announced it yet, but that should be actually announced
today if I'm not mistaken. We just launched the off-ramping opportunity for Indian user on our website.
So users at the moment.
So before that we were only able to support SEPA.
Yeah, so the European Indian users.
Now, or like actually hopefully today,
we are announcing the support of India for off-ramp.
And hopefully a little bit soon,
we are even going with more and more
like alternative payment methods that's even for off ramp not only for on ramp so we will be able
to off ramp directly to India and hopefully adding more and local payment methods to be able to so
users can actually off ramp that we are adding a couple of countries more
into the Asian market, African as well.
So yeah, just keep updated.
We are also hopefully very soon,
or I think that will be more into Q3 this year.
We are launching G payments, which is a payment gateway,
a crypto to crypto and fiat to fiat payment
gateway in one solution. So this payment gateway will actually be so you merchants will be
able to integrate it onto their end. And if user want to pay with crypto, he actually
pay with crypto, and you can receive either crypto or fiat as a merchant. And if they
actually pay with fiat,
you can also receive either fiat or crypto.
So you integrate one, for example,
let's say I'm a merchant who wants to receive ontology,
users come pay with Visa, MasterCard, or even with Bitcoin,
and everything will be converted to ontology
and I will take that into my wallet.
So this is one of the few, one of what we
are actually already working on and also as well we will be launching G custody which
will be a custody as a service for in order to build infrastructure on ontology, on, I'm
sorry, on Gardeirium infrastructure and all that while being fully licensed and compliant.
Okay, so it's a busy year for Gardeirion and I appreciate you bringing Ontology into the
conversation and using it as an example for folks that are looking to get involved with Ontology and
Gardeirion. Yeah, so we'll have to reconnect and see how things are developing with Gardarian
as you're kind of hitting those milestones, but it really definitely sounds really exciting.
So I wanted to just chat a little bit about community, seeing as kind of this is a community
call. How does Gardarian kind of connect with its user base or community? Are there any maybe
initiatives or programs or even even platforms that you're kind of seeing, its user base or community? Are there any maybe initiatives or programs
or even platforms that you're kind of seeing,
okay, our users spend a lot of time there
and that's kind of how Gardarian connects with them
or if there's feedback that you take from your community,
kind of any insights into your community would be great.
So again, actually adding India on as an offline
was one of the community requests.
So we're always here to the community, especially,
for example, as we mentioned before.
So our biggest audiences are on X and LinkedIn.
And obviously, X is more for the BTC side, for the user side.
LinkedIn is more for the businesses.
And we're always here for both our partners and our users.
So India and actually what we're actually offering soon
as of from the routing our feedback from our user.
And that's like, we always say,
so if you want any specific payment gateway
or any specific payment methods or alternative payment methods,
just write us anytime in any comments on our posts on Twitter and we will try our best to make that
happen. So yeah, so this is one of them. The second of them, we are soon launching more into
education and we're more going to the education. So we are making more insightful comments, not just announcing partnerships,
but for example, again, bringing ontology more and more.
We will be writing more as use cases of how using
Gardeirian and ontology can bring usability to the blockchain or something
more into insights where users can be actually interested
and he will actually learn more and more about the blockchain because as you already know,
there is a lot of content in the crypto space about what to do.
But when it comes to beginners, because especially as on-ramp off-ramp, I see myself as the main
entrance for people into the crypto.
Because, for example, I have been in the crypto space for quite some time.
I don't use fiat on-ramp off-ramp as a person that often.
But as a person who's just beginning into the crypto space, he is going to use
it more and more. So that's what actually we want to use our audience, which want to
start into crypto space to giving them more information, especially when it comes to compliance,
how KYC works, all of that, why we actually need licensing, why we need regulations.
This kind of topics are, in my opinion, they were like, we always focus on Web 3, Web 3,
where this word actually becomes more and more like, like, we, not a lot of people understand
what Web 3 and you'll hear a lot of especially when we go to conferences, like a lot of people understand what web 3 and you hear a lot of especially when we
go to conferences, like a lot of big topics.
We need to bring more into people to simplify the words for beginners.
And that's actually more what we are actually looking for.
Again, we always don't like we can never ignore that AMA is like a project like ontology which actually
bring awareness to both our audience and your audience about the possible collaborations
and hopefully like non-feeze events as well but that's like more into our content that's like
non-spoiler alert and yeah and actually lastly I think we will be launching more into like an exclusive
Telegram channel.
We're considering launching a private Telegram space for most engaged users.
We bring them like early updates and we will hear like more active leader feedbacks,
actually, as I mentioned before,
alternative payment methods, et cetera.
So if you need more, go to our website,
you will find our Telegram channel,
join that as we will make it more in private.
So yeah, I think that's mostly it from our side.
Hope I didn't take too long.
No, not at all.
This is your time to use.
So that's great.
Yeah, I think it's such a perfect example,
the release of the updated features for your Indian
community.
And that was feedback that you listened to.
And now that's something that's being launched.
And yeah, and just on Telegram, we definitely
see that as being a really valuable platform
for the ontology community.
We have a lot of great conversations and receive a lot of great feedback from Telegram.
We actually host like Telegram chat every week and we see a lot of engagement.
So I think it's something that we'll be focusing on doing more of for 2025 as well.
But I think LinkedIn as well.
Yeah, I've been in this space for a number of years, but was it previously in Web 2?
And it's great to see more folks in Web 3 utilizing LinkedIn. I think it's still a pretty solid platform and just on
our own collaboration with ontology, there's more like that we're working on behind the scenes. So
we're kind of doing at this AMA, like a short introductory kind of space, and then we'll be
looking to develop some maybe some campaigns behind the scenes and also for some longer form
As everyone knows, we're putting a big focus
on the ontology blog as well.
So always happy to have other projects involved
and then anything Garderian can commit to,
we're happy to support.
So I know you've spent some time kind of chatting
about ontology, but would be great if we could spend
maybe one or two minutes, if you have any more insights
on how users can interact with O&T through your platform.
So yeah, that's, so as I mentioned before, so,
so at the moment, at the moment,
what we support as Gardeirian,
ontology on the main net,
we support ontology on binary smart chain.
And if I'm not mistaken, we support,
give me one second to check.
We support, I think, GAZ ontology as well.
Just like I'm checking if that's,
that's a bit embarrassing.
So one of the few things I mentioned before, you can actually, yeah, so, oh, and I guys, yeah, ontology guys are supported as well.
Yeah, I appreciate you fact checking. I mean, that was just new. So well done.
Yes, I'm actually I have my API.
That was new. So yeah, so what we can actually, users can do.
So users first of all can buy and sell ontology on the mainnet or ontology guys,
or on the binary smart chain, buy and sell it directly from Fiat.
They can even if they want, that's like the OTC we discussed, because as I mentioned
before, we have like the deep liquidity from major centralized exchanges. So even if they want to buy
like a million dollar worth of ontology on the main net, we can afford, we can make that happen.
So just like hit me up and we can make that happen. That's like OTC space. And one of the
things most interesting is actually they can use the
cross-chain swaps. So, which means user can actually, especially like speaking of ontology
being on the binary smart chain and on the mainnet, you can bridge between the ontology from the
binary smart chain to the mainnet using Gardeirian or swap between main net
and ontology guys as well, while all of that being non-custodial.
And this is actually one of the major advantages of Gardeirian.
When it comes to on-ramps, a lot of users like we can use centralized exchanges, but on centralized exchanges, I do understand that
they correct the KYC like we do, but they actually keep your,
keep your funds where you actually don't know where. And
although all of them use security, but we saw what by
bit happened. So even if you're one of the biggest centralized exchanges,
you are prone to hacks.
I'm not saying that was bad, but just things happen.
But again, when it comes to Garderian,
you will do the KYC, you will buy, sell,
and cross-strain swaps, but your keys, your funds,
everything is actually happening inside your wallet.
You're not going outside. And that's like, your funds, everything is actually happening inside your wallet. You're not going outside.
And that's like for me, that's one of the most important use cases for Gaderian,
and especially for so you are a new user, but you're self aware that centralized
exchanges are to keep the funds, keep your fund in a way that we don't know.
Well, actually, unlike in a custody, we don't know. Why? Actually, only like an autostudy. It's
not like everything is on-chain. But while you actually can use Garderian being stay compliant
and stay regulated, especially if your country is more into this kind of area, like your opinion,
for example. So you stay compliant while you're still on your own world of non-custodial.
Great, Bessam. Thank you so much. We're just coming up towards the end. I've enjoyed our time.
I mean, we got through a lot in such a short space of time.
And I know you've been kind of talking nonstop, so I appreciate all the insights you've been able to share.
I wanted to leave a few minutes just kind of open to you if there's anything you want to maybe summarize
from our chat today or maybe any insights
or final words you want to give on kind of this Fiat
to crypto on RAM space.
I totally up to you.
But yeah, whatever way you'd like to wrap up.
So again, as of me, as a crypto user, I do understand the needs for regulations.
And I do understand that regulations are taking over because governments want to take over
the crypto space as a way to switch funds between countries.
That's like outside the control. That's like what I think of. But for example, here in Garderian,
we are always open. We have this low KYC where some users based on the risk assessments can do
buy or sell like up to 700 euros with no KYC.
So that's actually even a small intro
where you can actually users can use.
And this is actually something like we try to help
or making hassle free as we mentioned before,
or easy to use when it comes to Gardeirian.
Beside that, I am actually like,
we are always looking for users feedback comes to Gardeirian. Beside that, I am actually like, we
are always looking for users' feedback
when it comes to the community.
And yeah, I think, as I mentioned before,
we are always open to such collaboration with,
as you mentioned before, about blogs, with ontology,
especially with networks that we see usability.
That's one of the most important things on my point of view.
So, yeah, that's it.
I actually really appreciate you having us here.
Thank you so much. It was great to have you guys on.
I definitely took a lot more away about a lot more information
Or a lot away from this call. Sorry
Friday my brain is starting to switch off. Well, yeah, I appreciate your time so much and it was great to connect
We'll we'll have another space where we can deep dive into kind of different topics and one and yeah just for the community This is definitely just the beginning like watch this space
No pun intended to see what types of campaigns
that we might be releasing.
And again, just to reiterate,
if you guys have any questions,
you can reach out to me or anybody on the Gardarian team,
like Basam obviously through LinkedIn or Twitter,
and I'm sure the guys will get back to you.
But Basam, I'm just going to do a quick
look back at the week for Ontology,
just for the folks for a few minutes.
Feel free to stay or feel free to leave.
I don't mind at all, but I appreciate your time today.
No, I'm actually staying.
Thank you so much.
So yeah, everybody, that was a really great chat with Gardarian.
I appreciate everybody's time and for everyone who joined this morning.
So let's take a look back on ontology for the past week.
We had Jeff actually was at Web3 festival in Amsterdam.
So there was some really interesting talks there.
We're gonna do a quick look back
and kind of pull some insights and some trends.
So it was Web3 Amsterdam, that was it.
So we're gonna have a look back at some of the information
that Jeff was able to gather
for these developments for 2025.
We're gonna look at, yeah, as I said,
key trends and some insights
and see what kind of content we can develop around that.
We did something similar for DevCon
and for the Staking Summit towards the end of 2024.
Yeah, this just gives us access to some really great pieces
or kind of opportunities to create great pieces of content
and to stay obviously on top of all of these trends.
Also, just while we're on the topic of Jeff, so for everybody that knows that Jeff stepped into the position of Headed Community at the beginning of March, obviously it's great to have him focus there.
He's also looking to kind of reinvigorate, I guess, some of our social channels, like YouTube is one of them, that we had been posting on for quite some time and then we turned our focus to some other channels. So you will see that Jeff has now started this weekly update.
I think it should be every Friday, if I'm not mistaken.
So it might be happening today, but he'll confirm it when he posts on Twitter.
So it's this poet's day musings where Jeff kind of looks at something
that's topical around DID or DIPIN and kind of he'll create an article
that'll be on the website and then he'll go through it.
He'll kind of discuss the most recent developments with this specific topic.
So last year or last week, which was quite interesting, is how decentralized identity
and reputation systems can unlock financial inclusion. So he had a look at how identity is
kind of this gatekeeper for financial services. There was a look at like this whole,
some issues around no government issued ID,
no bank account, no credit history, no loan.
So it was really interesting to get Jeff's take on that.
There was a lot of kind of research involved in this.
So I would recommend everybody to go to our Twitter page
or LinkedIn or any of our socials or head straight to YouTube
where you can find the link,
but the link has been kind of posted across all of our social channels where Jeff will do a deep dive into this article and as
well if you want to find the article itself it's posted on the ontology news section and just while
we're here if any of you folks have a topic that you'd like Jeff to chat about that's kind of around
reputation or decentralised identity I mean he'd be more than happy to hear from you. I mean, we can
feature this on the YouTube chat that Jeff will be hosting. And then also we will write a long form
an article about that as well. And then finally, we had the folks from Omnia join us last week on
the community call, where we did a deep dive into everything that they're planning for 2025.
We learned a lot more about kind of this intersection
between blockchain and AI and all about Omnia Tech's mission.
And there was some really interesting kind of features
for Omnia about this AI brain platform
that has the ability to enhance functionality
across a bunch of different decentralized applications.
And they did a deep dive into all of these unique features
and exactly how it is open to developers and users alike.
They also have this community page.
Christian shared a link to this,
but if anybody wants a link,
feel free to reach out to myself or to Christian.
It's the community page that hosts a bunch of different quests.
So depending on kind of what area
you want to get involved with Omnia,
there's a lot of different stuff open there. And also just area you want to get involved with Omnia,
there's a lot of different stuff open there.
And also just for you guys to know, that was just the beginning again of our collaboration
with Omnia, you know, ontology is putting a huge effort into collaborating with a lot of kind of new projects or looking back to projects
that we had collaborated with a couple of years ago and trying to
reintroduce them to the community. So watch this space again for upcoming kind of upcoming campaigns
with Omnia and also with Garderian as well. So that was a pretty good wrap up of our week.
Also I think we had happiness day, International Happiness Day I think was yesterday if I'm
correct on that. Yes International Happiness Day. So yeah, I think
hopefully everybody was able to check out our reminder to just think, care and share,
just to take a moment and kind of enjoy the day yesterday. And if anybody has questions about what
we're developing or any of the milestones of the roadmap, don't hesitate to reach out to anybody
on the team. We will be hosting another space with the team as these milestones develop. So I appreciate everybody's time.
And if there's anything else anybody wants to know regarding any of these community
activities, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
But again, just to thank Bassem for his time today.
And yeah, again, any questions on anything that was mentioned during our chat today?
We covered quite a lot.
So, as I already mentioned, you know, this will be the first kind of as we call it an introductory chat, but there'll be more definitely down the line.
So thank you so much, everybody, to all the new faces and to our Antonauts and our Harbingers that joined us again. Have a great weekend. Felly, mae'r cyfle hwn yn dda. Mae'r cyfle hwn yn dda.
Mae'r cyfle hwn yn dda.
Mae'r cyfle hwn yn dda.
Mae'r cyfle hwn yn dda.
Mae'r cyfle hwn yn dda.
