It was a celebration, really, of the Lunar Festival.
And I tapped into Hype, our Asian ambassador, to educate me a little bit about the Chinese
Dragons, the red envelopes, the whole kind of essence of what the Lunar New Year is.
And that was kind of what the video was about right
just showcasing the tigers the lunar new year coming in and having a blast

So the people don't know about command line yet.
You came out of the Thea.

So the original business model was enterprise-based.
We were doing a lot of real estate work and basically using Unreal Engine to build shit that didn't exist yet.
That scaled into a lot of pretty large projects.

Thea did about probably 300 plus projects globally,
ranging from the Hollywood Hard Rock Hotel in Florida.
We built out the entire exterior of that guitar-shaped building,
a bunch of interior rooms.
We did the backspace where the pool is. It's like the largest pool, I think, in America, somebody told me. Worked on that for 18
months. We worked on like Wynn Encore in Boston, a lot of the same style work, like interior,
exterior stuff. We actually did, at the time, we built out their casino floor and we did this all in virtual reality.
So we did and it could still be true today, but at the time, at least it was the largest contiguous VR scene in the world.
The room was so big because, you know, you go to a casino, the sight lines are crazy.
So that we've done stuff in like Saudi Arabia with the line and some of those
giant legacy projects, private jet stuff, interior, exterior training stuff. We were at Unreal
Engine's first enterprise partner in North America. As of 2016, we were an NVIDIA partner from 2017 on
as well. So we did work directly with Epic, who owns Unreal, and NVIDIA as well so we did work directly with epic who owns unreal um and nvidia as well a lot of like
trade show work when covet hit we did about two years on a project where we built out epics internal
metaverse with them that they use for meetings uh we built it on we built six different scenes about
seven times basically uh because they had us working on platform plays.
Ironically, one of the platforms we worked on was M2's platform.
So we're already super familiar with it going in.
Epic actually, our guys essentially wrote white papers on each of the seven that we worked with.
And Epic invested in two of them, you know,
in part based on our research.

So a lot of that for years and then friends at Epic were like,
hey, Fortnite's doing, you know, creative 2.0.
And for us, Fortnite creative, I mean, we all play video games,
but like Fortnite Creative wasn't anything we really wanted to fuck with because we couldn't,
we couldn't, we couldn't do any custom models. You know what I mean? And like, sure, like,
rebuilding Tilted Towers sounds good, but I don't really want to rebuild it with Epic Games,
Tilted Towers stuff already. I'd rather make it look completely different if given the opportunity.
So once we were allowed to import models in, we shifted a lot of focus to that because that kind of, you know, we want to make games.
It's fun, right?
So the first thing we did for Epic internally was we built out like a Ferrari dealership in Fortnite that was just for Epic to show Ferrari.
We got high marks, high praise up to the C-level over there, which was great.
We started shifting a lot more focus to Fortnite, building a lot of cool shit, working with a bunch of different, you know, athletes and musicians and brands.
And, you know, we still have, we've got two or three games right now in the queue.
One with, you know, Yellow Wolf, the rapper.
Got a game with him coming out soon.
It's like 98% done.
Another one with The Living Tombstone.
It's another band.
That game is
actually fucking sick so that'll be out hopefully in the next couple weeks we just run with those
guys again a couple days ago so uh when when when when Hugo went back to M squared we I started
banging on the door like let me in give me the ODk i have guys that are probably the best team in north
america to do this shit and they probably know this shit like crazy already so they let us in
and um that's when blitz started yeah we want to get into that obviously you've you've queued
yourself up which is great in terms of who you are i mean we definitely want to talk a bit about

we wanted to do

Bored Ape Yacolod bathroom and we're like uh let's do that that would be amazing um so
they sent a deck over we were super beyond excited and that's kind of how it started
i mean the idea was a was a gordon and garga idea that we uh were fortunate enough to get to jump on
and work with i heard garga drew it out on a napkin right there at the dinner table, exactly what he wanted, and you just could see the vision,
and then before you knew it, we were running around.
That's exactly what happened.
The whole thing took like 15 minutes.

going to come a time when the ua kicks in and then at that point we'll get to see maybe larger games
but until then it doesn't make a lot of sense to me at least as a you know as somebody leading a
group of developers yeah we're still building that first 1000 when you look at the community
for the other side you know what i'm saying like it has great flow through and stuff like that but
yeah i mean this is so early this is so yeah there's 12 there's 12 1300 people
in it i think per day um which is great it's's a great start. And it's one of those things where, you know,
let's get more stuff done so then we could widen the net.
I mean, my hope for, like, this year and next year
is we stop thinking about it as Web3 gaming, right?
And we start thinking about it just as gaming

you know why tiger avatars and why lunar new year what's the inspiration behind that um you know we
started we started exploring different narratives a while back.
And we had a couple things drawn out that we wanted to do.
And we started with the Tiger.
I don't really know why.
Honestly, I don't remember whose idea it was on the team.
I think it was like a culmination of a couple things. But then we were like, well, you know, there's a lot of cool things to build off of with the Lunar Calendar.
We could add this tiger character that our guide Joshua made,
and we can add them to a theoretical potential
larger collection of avatars
and there's just so much
cool
stuff that we can imagine
leveraging
that story
you know what I mean
all of the different animals
there's 12 different animals
we start with the tiger next I mean, all of the different animals, you know, there's 12 different animals, right?
We start with the tiger, you know, next, it's the year of the horse.
So obviously, you know, I mean, and also BoJack Horseman is one of my favorite shows of all time.
So of course I want a horse, you know, only seems like the next logical step. So, you know, we just kind of kicked around
a number of different potential narratives.
And initially the tiger was one tiger.
And we were just going to do it kind of along the lines
of what you could do with Boximus, right?
Treat it like a Fortnite skin.
You know what I mean?
It's one thing.

Everybody gets the same one. But then, and then you know boxbus is great and it works for boxbus but then we were
like you know fuck it'd be cool to do some other shit you know and it'd be cool to gamify it because

shit like that since i was like literally five years old you know like my oldest memories are
around me trying to get my parents to take me to the corner store to find comics oh you're a pack

you know every year and they all they all fucking knew him and they all loved him um he worked with
artists his whole life you know and it was like always one of those things that inspired me to like no end you know seeing that and um
so you know thinking with the with that hat which is the only fucking hat i wear when you think about
it i wanted to make these tigers a little bit more than just like a single skin right because
the idea of like pack ripping or box ripping if it's like vinyl toys you know you want to get
those chase ones
and the chase ones are what makes it fun that's that's why like a lot of us love this stuff so
much right because you know you're all about that chase that's why so many people in the timeline
now are ripping pokemon cards because they want that charizard you know what i mean or they want
that rare fucking shit that they can't get you know same thing with the one piece cards same thing with all these different tcgs so we wanted to kind of take that same mindset with this and that's why you know we
literally like this thing was gonna guys this thing was gonna come out like october we had these
tigers done these were in the can but we're like no we're not done done you know we want to put the
time in we want to make this fucking cool and fun and see these things running around and then see just different variations of them running around. And that's where we literally, you know, the guys went back to the lab and just cooked up really cool stuff, you know, and we went through and we kind of wrote out the traits and then it was, it was a blast, like watching these things go from like being, you know, conceptual discussions
in a, in a, you know, in a Google meet with like eight people, you know, in a call to like
writing up a spreadsheet with the traits and then actually seeing the traits be born.
So we wanted to make it special because the idea is like,
look, if other side works and does what we all want it to do, right?
And just literally becomes the thing that we want it to become so badly,
then, you know, this avatar has providence.
This is the first avatar from command line.
We want to keep doing shit.
You know, we want to build cool cool shit so this is what we're doing

was one of the questions we had um which is talking about the rarity tiers how many mythics
are there and what separates them from common to the grails well let's see i'm looking at the types right
now actually because they're pretty dope they are pretty sick if you guys haven't seen it yet
they're pretty sick yeah i mean if you go to open c you can you can you know sort it by trait
there you know there's 888 in the collection total tigers only 15 are mythics 71 are legendary
then you got rare and common in common
that's pretty exclusive yeah it's pretty rare yeah i mean how many things 15 you said only 15
and there are what are there three types there's five a piece there's five gold five chrome and
five black you know i need that black angle out of you the black one is yeah you know
i put an offer in last night when i seen the way they were moving there were some grails on the
floor for like 200 yeah and stuff and then i was just watching watching watching then it just started
getting scooped up yeah there's there's some good you know the legendaries are great too um there is
a black one with a white beard but the the all black one is a mythic just
like the all gold and the old chrome um but yeah i mean the guys really did a great job it's a great
collection it looks good it's definitely like you know we're it's i mean i'm objective but this is a
top five avatar for other side right now so can we expect some type of storytelling or lore building with the lunar beast?
I mean, like, you know, it's a great looking collection.
We know we're getting more cast to the character.

And like, do you plan on doing anything that's set in those type of,

from the ODK that you've experienced
from when it first opened up
to now in terms of evolution?
What are some things people can take away from that
in terms of some evolving aspects of it
that you've seen so far?
I mean, it's one of those things
where it's only going to improve with time.

So we're at a spot now where you can get in and you can start doing stuff.

just being able to divide the catwalk to be able to build things i know for you it's a little different because you know i'm sure your team
you know builds a lot of this stuff from scratch but i think it's going to help in terms of a tool
so what's your thoughts on the mml process and what what's going to come with that long term
um i mean i think the future of of creating games is going to in part be with AI-based tools.

and understand content and understand what makes games sticky.

and you have probably in my opinion one of the best built out worlds in the sense of like bathroom
blitz is so detailed right like if you if you sit
and walk around there's so much detail in it so i know you have a good eye so i'm curious for you
appreciate that look at avatars and you look at stuff like what how do you decide what's good to
you um i mean you know i'm looking at a variety of things, I guess. You know, I'm looking at the overall design, the overall concept.
I'm a big, like, zoom-in advocate.
You know, like, I can't tell you how many times, like, we've looked at this stuff and
tried to, you know, get as close to it as possible to see the textures, right?
I love variety, and I love to try to keep things as interesting as possible
and thankfully you know my team has an amazing amount uh just the attention to detail these
guys have is just incredible you know so we're just in a really i'm in a really lucky position
to have the crew that I have, right?
I've always been into design and always been around it.
So like for me, being able to like do this stuff digitally is a blast.
And to see these things, you know, I popped in for a little bit into Other Side yesterday, you know, running around with my Tiger and just, it looked, it just fucking pops.
It looks good you
know it's clean it it looks like it's got the attention to detail that I think is critical
uh in any kind of an avatar situation and um you know hopefully people love it as much as we do
tons of time was spent on this stuff I can't even tell you like somebody was like how much is it
free it's like dude I am losing so much money on this thing. I can't even tell you. Somebody was like, is it free?
It's like, dude, I am losing so much money on this thing,

Just want to get them out. The guys spent, I think we've done,
our guys, my co-founder,
who really led the charge on so much

will walk home with some money.

And it's a great way also for designers to kind of promote.

We got an amazing 3D artist that has been playing in this place for a while
to create our character.
He has done plenty for Nifty Island, for Other Side.
He just knows what he's been doing.
So he got the character done.
And after that, it was just simple coordination with you guys
to make a smooth launch and get together also for next week.
Next week, I'm super excited as well.
With Fashion Week, I think it just makes sense, right,
to have a women character, a women avatar,
to go on the passerelle on the other side.
And of course, if there is contest or anything,
I'm sure we are going to win all of them.
