everybody's doing well um i wanted to ask this question while we had some certain people in here
because uh they may be able to shed some light for me uh maybe crypto bra stoner big man weed
if that's uh that's tricky buddha um and anybody else. So I just purchased ETH on Abstract on the portal,
and I used MoonPay. And I'm logged into my only Abstract wallet. Well, it finished the transaction,
and I got my MoonPay and my Abstract email saying I was going to get the $50. That was after fees and all that. It was 0.0201 ETH.
And when it got to my wallet, I only had 0.015. So it shaved off like $10. And when I contacted
MoonPay and they went through everything and they said oh well the transaction was set to go to this wallet and i don't know what the fuck that wallet is um and that wallet
i think is some sort of a transferring wallet or something like i have all the transactions
and the hash ids and stuff on etherscan and on abscan but for whatever reason uh like if if i go into abstract portal and i hit
add funds or hit that that plus fund uh button and then i go to moon pay right and i put in the
amount that i want right if i'm gonna do 50 bucks hit next and i'm to do it through PayPal, let's say. That's usually how I do it
because my bank is stupid. When I do that, it automatically generates a wallet address
that is not mine. And every time I go in, it's a different wallet address.
I just continued on because I haven't had an issue with this and I'm logged into my
abstract wallet.
I'm not logged into any other wallet.
But for whatever reason, it just like gypped me like 10 bucks.
I don't know why.
I put in a support ticket in with abstract on their discord, but they haven't gotten
to me yet.
I just, I don't know if anybody's experienced that
or not but if that's like a normal thing uh buying it through abstract because if it is i'm never
doing it again um i'm just curious if anybody knows any details about looks like big t came
up here with raised their hand up yeah i was just following up what jed said there uh same thing happened to me just not on the
abstract it happened to me on coinbase i had sent i think it was 0.03 and it only gave me
like 15 cents after the transaction that happened crap i've never had this happen. Never. I don't know why.
I mean, I'm logged in to my abstract wallet paying through my PayPal.
I don't know why.
I wish I was paying more attention and I didn't just hit continue because it just generates, every time you go in, it generates a new wallet address.
And if you go to that wallet address, the one that my money was sent to, it has like a 37 cent balance.
And it shows that 0.0201 went into the wallet.
Then it went out of the wallet.
0.0193 went out of the wallet to another wallet that has like, what is it?
That has like 750 ETH balance.
It's got like almost eight and a half million
it's one of those reverse honeypot fucking things i bet big man has his hand up too sorry take big
t i didn't mean to cut you off yeah so i'm not um super familiar with abstract in particular i
noticed a couple of things that i didn't really like about their wallet and like trying
to import other wallets to the abstract portal.
It's kind of a pain.
You can't really see some things and some of them don't port.
Some of them say it's ported over, but it hasn't.
I think there's some stuff going on that they haven't foreseen.
And honestly, the way that that sounds like it's minting you on a separate wallet address to
do that typically it i think that's how those transactions with moon pay work anyway but it's
not supposed to leave funds behind like that so it sounds like there's like the funds transfer
function or something like that for that functionality is either malfunctioning or it wasn't set properly
or and that's just my like my guess honestly I'm not really a hundred percent sure I don't deal
with abstract chain a lot because of I so I used coinbase wallet when I was been my dragon punks
I used coinbase wallet went to blerver when I went to blerver it automatically added the abstract
chain to my coinbase wallet so I didn't have to add the chain ID or anything like that.
And then I could see my Dragon Punks, but not in my Coinbase wallet.
They don't even show up as a collection in there.
I have to go to Magic Eden to see them switch it over to abstract chain and then look at it.
And that's even when I switch the chain in my wallet.
I know that I got to switch chains sometimes to see or all networks I put onto.
I flip back and forth a few times.
So I think there's an issue, honestly, with Abstract.
I know they're a new chain and stuff, and they might have overlooked a couple of, you know, a couple of things.
But I can't even transfer my Dragon Punks from my Coinbase wallet because there's no, like, UI for me to be able to send or, send or like i can receive still but i can't send anything from that wallet with that fraction
it's just weird it just pisses me off because i i accidentally sent uh abstract eth to my
crypto.com wallet the other day and i wasn't fucking thinking about it
and because it's one abstract it's not all erc 20 um and i lost that so now i've lost a little
bit more it's just fucking infuriating like i don't even know why this even happened it doesn't
make any fucking sense so what i can say is we have some homies that are working on some
stuff that are hopefully going to be making it easier to bridge i mean sorry walk through the
corridor and um you know what i'm saying be able to go from layer two base to layer two abstract
with ease and security in your funds so i can't wait for that to be all done and set up and they
they do that but But right now I,

when you're talking about adding networks,
so like either Coinbase Wallet or MetaMask,
with those custom networks,
you can import your,
or you should be able to import your NFTs manually,
and then you can send them.
Like, that's how I did it with,
Apechain has the same problem.
from what I had seen,
I had to actually import,
I added the,
the customer network,
but then I had to,
had to like import the,
you know,
get the contract and,
and token IDs and import them in the mad mask that way.

address you're trying to send to that that's your agw wallet right my agw what is your abstract
global wallet you know like when you go into the portal i was logged into the portal and I hit add funds.

Yeah, so I don't know what that was all about.
And as far as the other day, the money I lost sending it to Crypto.com.
Crypto.com is fucking stupid.
You can't add networks like that. So I just have to accept the fact that that money's gone until they add that network.
Then I'll probably be able to access it.
But I'm not really worried about that. This just this is just weird i've never had this happen and
the reason i did it was because i was trying to like get xp points on abstract like to fund my
account through abstract and normally i would just buy it on metamask relay.link it and send
it over to my abstract and i don't ever have a problem. So yeah, I don't know.
This is just fucking weird. And it's more concerning to me because I don't know why it
happened. There wasn't any kind of notification of, oh yeah, if you're going to do it, there's
going to be a transfer fee of this amount or there was nothing. So now I'm sitting here thinking like,
am I compromised? Is something going on where my wallet is compromised? I have no
fucking clue. Jed, I definitely
suggest not doing any transactions
with the wallet until you figure out what happens for sure.

Speaking from somebody who went through it
recently.

When you were talking about the process of what you were converting through,
I don't use that very much.
But with the copying the address and you're saying it's a different address,
there's two things I would do first.
One, I would go track that last transaction, if you haven't already, on the blockchain, so you can see what's going on,
because you'll see the fee in there too. If it was like a massive gas fee for some reason,
you'll notice that, but also you'll notice if it went to a different address, exactly what
happened in that. If you need help with that, you can hit up in the dms and then but the other thing is
too when you said you put an address and it looks like another address or a changed address
i would be very careful and consider something compromised usually in that situation because
it shouldn't you should never have an issue with your copy paste so it, and is this on phone or is this on a laptop or computer?
This is on my desktop and I didn't copy or paste anything. I just was logged into my abstract portal
and I added funds through the portal and I have my PayPal, which is set up through MoonPay. I
always use that for MoonPay, but for whatever reason, it doesn't even let you put a wallet address in. It generates
one. And that wallet address received the funds. And then a moment later, it sent those funds to
a large wallet that has like $8.5 million of value in it. And then that wallet sent me the funds that I received in my abstract wallet.
So to me, it sounds like it was some sort of a bridging or a transfer wallet of some kind
that abstract was using to do the transaction or MoonPay maybe. But MoonPay is like, no,
we can't help you because we sent the funds that you were asking for to the wallet address,
which they're correct. That did happen. And I don't think it's anything on their side.
So I'm not sure what the fuck that's about.
Did you happen to see what if there was and what the fee was going to be when you went
to make that transaction or did it give you any warning? And was it way less than that?

fees and the transaction you know and then i received 40 i would also look at that uh large
wallet you said and see you know how many transactions like where are the transactions maybe coming from from that wallet
and make sure that you know it man it's it's weird it's it sounds like so when you follow
that transaction and it comes from that big wallet to you the rest of it just stayed in that wallet
uh let me let me find that i gotta there's so many fucking transactions in this this big wallet
and and take your time and you know wait on or see what they say as well look into the things
that you can definitely you know dm me if you have like with questions as you're going through
this but you know go look yeah look at those couple things see if it if it went anywhere else
or if you noticed noticed that transaction split again
those kind of things and then yeah let me know but we'll at least figure out what happened with
it regardless but also with sending money right now I would I would just put a hold on that until
you have confirmation yeah I'm not even so concerned about the ten dollars I mean yeah
it sucks but I'm just more concerned about why
it happened so yeah it's good to know exactly i did if anybody's interested i did share the
wallet up in the uh the the jumbo if anybody wants to look at it babs hey hi i just want to
let you know jed um thank everybody's doing well take a breath um one thing i did want to let you know, Jed, I hope everybody's doing well. Take a breath.
One thing I did want to let you know is that like I use PayPal and PayPal uses like the it's always through a dummy wallet.
PayPal never uses your own wallet.
So somehow they have something set up that they have a secondary kind of wallet.
I ran into it when I was doing my taxes cause it's really strange.
Um, so it's not your wallet.
They actually go, it goes through.
So make sure you take the PayPal kind of piece into consideration cause they, they go through
a secondary kind of wallet.
So if you went from MoonPay to PayPal, that could be the PayPal wallet.
That's got all the big amount of money in it.
That sounds about right.

So anytime PayPal, because I buy crypto through PayPal, too.
And it became like such a big hassle when I was doing my taxes because my wallet, you can't actually get to your wallet on PayPal.
They give you a secondary or whatever it is,
a dummy wallet or whatever.
I mean, one level, it's not decentralized,
but it serves to protect a person, I guess.
But it also makes it very hard to know
what's happening in your own stuff.

It's funny because I always use PayPal.
Yeah. And I've never had this happen. I mean,
to me, I mean, if you think about it, it's like 10%, it was like 10, you know, it was more than that. It was like 15% of the purchase that was missing. So if you're looking at percentage wise,
it's a little crazy. Yeah. I have to go back to Moonpay too. Cause when I was doing stoners,
um, mint today, I think something like that that happened i had a big chunk taken out too i haven't
gone back and looked at it i'll go back and look at it but um yeah it felt like wow where did where
did that all go to so yeah so maybe it's something moon pay too but i mean somewhere in between those
oh well well i'm gonna hopefully abstract will give me a some clarity here but yeah
yeah big man has his hand up too yeah so just i just wanted to bring up two things real quick
one um in moments of volatility within crypto too you got to be careful because there's going to be
a lot of little things like this that happen because they're going to think people just don't
pay attention right so there might be some things like this where it was deliberate or it
could just be like for example that um the big wallet that you've seen that's got the the 8.5
mil that probably is like a moon pay wallet you could see um what that is but anytime your bank
account interacts with um a cex of any kind uh There's like an ACH or a debit transaction that actually
happens on the back end bank to bank. And then what they do is they have a wallet that makes
a system, a contract that I believe this is how that part works, that creates a wallet with a key
that interacts with the pool or that that pool sends the money to,
and then that wallet sends it to you, and then that wallet gets burnt, essentially.
So it's just a kind of a fast-paced thing.
That big pool that you're seeing probably is the MoonPay pool that was paying you,
but then Abstract has to have something because obviously you can't just buy Abstract ETH.
It's a layer two, so you'd have to buy abstract ETH. It's a layer two.
So you'd have to buy either ETH or base ETH first from the CEX. And then they would convert that through some type of smart contract into the abstract ETH and then send it to your wallet.
So it's probably getting lost right there at that conversion right there where they
bridge it over to abstract e there's an
abstract wallet that they're using first and then sending it to you i'm just assuming too like i
can't look at it right now but since you shared the address i can go check it out and abstract
should have their own ab scan or something like that as well um yeah i do have that i have that transaction up all right it it shows it shows that money yeah
so i mean essentially i don't even need to find it from the big wallet because i can see it on
abscan that yeah so they did they did shy me that 0.05 0.005 because i only received 0.015
right so i bet you the conversion at the time you could if you wanted
to you could go over to the layer two base where where the the transfer actually happened and um
see what the conversion rate for layer two base eth to abstract eth was at that time and maybe
right there there was a an arbitrage opportunity that happened or a discrepancy in the price value by the time the
contract had reached that point. Ah, okay. I'm just guessing too here. Like I'll pull up the
address too. And later on, I'll actually check it out and see if I can follow up on that. But I'm,
I'm guessing that might've been what happened there.
Yeah. I mean that, that sound, I was thinking it was something like that because obviously
they're gonna have to bridge it from erc 20 to abstract so um doing it all in one transaction
might have triggered something um unfavorable in that moment so that's probably what happened. That's what it's looking like.
Whenever I've done any kind of stunting of my abstract wallet,
I usually have the ETH on the ETH chain,
and then I will use relay.link and have it it sent to my my abstract yeah yep the other thing too jed uh i
just thought of while we were talking about all this because there are some so i've noticed a lot
of the apps when you're buying stuff these days have started to add an auto slippage and i am
super not okay with auto slippage because that kind of stuff happens.
So I always set mine where I want it and then I'll like incrementally move it if things fail.
But I'm very careful with that too, because that's sometimes I'm noticing what happens with
people is there is an option to not have it auto, but when it is auto, if there's a spike in
volatility in those moments that
conversion fee is going to get way higher all of a sudden in the midst of it but if you have a you
know your slippage set to a certain number then it'll just keep failing if it is more expensive
in that moment i see yeah okay all righty that you know all that all those things make sense um yeah and i don't
even the more that i'm thinking about it i don't even know if abstracts gonna be able to help me
with that they probably probably won't but i mean whatever i i just want want to know. It'd be nice if someone sent me an email like,
yeah, sorry, we shorted you. This is why.

MoonPay still owes me $25. I'm holding them to that shit. First of all, they follow me,

you get the ones that are meant for you um how was your day though crypto i know you've been
up all day and out and i've missed you guys i I know, I missed you too. I've been so busy since before
the conference to get everything ready for the conference to be able to make, I wanted to make
sure that I gave Quack Life the most me I could at the conference because they were the ones that
helped me to get there. So it was amazing to experience all of that. But then it was like catching up on everything I has missed,
kind of transitioning into different workflow for myself
in what I'm doing in Web3.
So I had made that kind of decision
at the Bitcoin conference with talking to people.
So I was getting that stuff dialed in.
Then I came back and everyone's like,
Solana Deads is ready.
And I was like, oh God, we're gonna have a mint as soon as I get back trying to get this stuff ready,
which was amazing. It was exciting to hear Pup say pencils down. Working with Pup in Web3 has
been one of my favorite experiences so far. And I actually have another project, which I'm going to keep all of that to myself for right now.
But we have another project that may be able to utilize and work with Pup.

And it's so important as we want this entire ecosystem to grow and this entire ecosystem to get more money and more eyes on it to have people like
you out on the streets. So keep doing what you're doing. I am excited about what you're planning on
doing as far as helping accounts. And I actually wanted to offer you my service and help.
You know, I'm much more on the account health side as far as like moving accounts, helping them grow,
monetization. And if that's ever something of interest, you know, how we do things just right

um I just hope pup realizes how um loved and appreciated he is um because I think that he's
just really an underrated person and account in this space so So I'm super glad you had a good experience with
