everyone that's on the stream. Of course, it's a big week, man. Ronin has been making
moves. So we have to have some big episodes to follow along

people across the space to everything that's going on, we've got tons of information to be

our guests up here because it is stacked today talk about stacked that is today um i mean yo
come on what else are we going to talk about today other than pixels the token
shout out to the pixels team we are blessed with their presence
today and of course pixels will be having a space later on so every one of you should be heading

side um and and yeah man um congratulations on on the pixels launch it was it was fantastic
good morning yeah no appreciate you guys having us today um and yeah we're really excited to talk
about how everything went it went better than we expected i'm just so appreciative of the team too
because that was an extremely smooth launch
when it comes to all the technical stuff behind it,
when it came to security,
when it came to everybody who was helping
with the external part of the token logistics as well too.
Just like all around,
everybody who was involved with this token
executed extremely well.
And I'm super appreciative of every single person
who was involved in the launch. There are aotted from people who had their hands on this we we were exhausted after the token
launch i can tell you that i basically slept like 13 hours last night um finally got some rest but
yeah big shout out to every single person who had a part of this including all the community as well
because you guys are the reason that we you know were able to do this as well um you know having a community of you know 160 000 daily active users before even launch the token is a
huge advantage and yeah we almost doubled dau yesterday as well too um so it's big shoes to
fill for sure right you know we are we have a lot in front of us this is literally just the beginning
of everything but we're so excited to be doing this journey with all the community um the whole team and all that too so yeah props to everybody who had a piece of
this absolutely man yeah hey those 13 hours of sleep much needed i can't even imagine like
as a as a player of the game knowing that the pixels token launch was happening like i found
myself like i was up early on monday like bright
and early ready in game mode like like i felt that i felt that too and i'm a player i'm not involved
in in you know the the processes that are happening behind the closed doors and making sure that
everything goes right so i can only imagine you know um that feeling for you guys on that day
heidi it's a pleasure to have

really perfectly it was yeah speaking to the exhaustion side someone from your team reached
out and asked to have us on this space and they said tomorrow and I was like do you mean like in
four hours or in like 24 hours because it was was like 7 a.m. and I hadn't slept yet.
You know, but totally worth it.
It was such a magical experience.
You know, I retweeted throughout the night at some point.
I retweeted the Pixels post saying we did it.
And I got flooded with responses like, oh, congratulations, congratulations. I'm like, I don't think I'm getting my point across enough. We did it and I got flooded with responses like oh congratulations congratulations I'm like I don't

single community member that has ever touched the project was a part of this so yeah hugely
grateful proud feeling all the things um couldn't be happier right now man it's uh
you know it is one of those times man like this is really you know we're in 2024 now and we are
we are now seeing the the prowess the true nature of like the ronin effect and the ronin community
and you know how we're able to to join together as a huge force and through a medium like
pixels you know we're seeing the industry largely be dominated by the pixel conversation this week
so of course we want to dive in a bit more on uh on on technicals and stuff like not technicals i
ain't here to bust balls and all that we're gonna it is the colloquial chat but uh certain elements
we will touch so i'm also looking at the chat on the live stream we will have questions coming through so if
if any of those stick out we'll pull them across into the space and of course leave your comments
below if you have anything uh for the team as well and we'll try to address all of those things

overall and uh i know normally i'm kind of in the background but i'm always you know linked
into everything ronan network so glad to be here glad to share

I'm honored to share the stage with Luke and Heidi after the amazing day and days leading up to the giant pixel airdrop and reveal.
Congratulations all around.
I wanted to just share a little more insight into what Travis mentioned. excited here and getting these old 2021 little tingles in my feet is because I'm seeing normal
people onboard other normal people with the tools that are provided in Pixels. And it reminds me so
much of what I saw in 2021 when I was working at Sky Mavis. I remember joining right before the
bull market and a few months in having a few of those moments with Jiho, like, is this real?
Is this really happening? Is it really exploding this quickly? And having moments where we really analyze that the key mechanism was,
we enable the guild leaders and the thought leaders, they enable the officers in their guilds,
and then those people share the knowledge and it just keeps spreading, you know, kind of like a
positive virus. And I'm seeing that again, my girlfriend doesn't know anything about crypto,
I explained it to her, she started playing, She started enjoying it. I bought her a VIP. I bought
her an NFT. And then I heard her on the phone red pilling her friends with the exact same sales
pitch that we were using in 2021. The basic concept of play to earn. Play this game. You get a little
bit back for your attention. Your work isn't forgotten. A lot of it's on chain. It's a totally
different ethos. And it's just kind of incredible, man. I don't want to get too excited.
The bull isn't here quite yet. And this could be one giant trap, but I'm getting those tingles,
dude. I had trouble sleeping last night. I was listening to Cloud White explain to his parents
what was going on here and see them get so excited about finding their Pixel AirDrop and figuring out
how to log in and claim it and see them slowly get sucked into finding their pixel airdrop and figuring out how to log in and claim it

There may be no greater drug for a Web3 person or full-time blockhead

Like, we know about things that are coming.
There's certain things that we've been, you know, have been revealed.
You know, checking into the Pixels Discord and through announcements
and stuff like that, you guys really keep in great communication
with your players and your community.
What's something that like,
now that the Pixels launch has happened,
like what is the next hurdle
that like you're really looking at
as like, this is my focus now,
this is where priority is?
Yeah, there's a bunch.
So I would say all that boils down to one word,
sustainability, and how do we achieve that?
So one thing that we want to avoid and be really, really careful about coming into potentially
a bull run is creating too crazy of expectations around everything.
Our preferred growth path actually this whole time, we've been following the project for
two years, has been to basically build in like a exciting, fun way, right?
Like we, we know how to hype things up,
but we actually don't like to overhype if that makes sense.
So there's a lot of care that comes with that too.
What we're going to be focusing on for the next six to 12 months is one,
making the game as fun as possible.
The changes that we're about to make into the gameplay actually really,
really make the game way more interesting. People are already seeing with these changes to the task
board, that's really maybe 20% of the changes that we're going to be making, right? The other
stuff that we have coming over the next like two months is going to change the game completely.
So basically, chapter two, it's in progress right now. It's a complete overhaul of the economics
inside of pixels. One, this makes the game far more engaging, far more fun, far more interesting.
When we start to integrate resource tiering, spec upgrading, guilds, guild permissioning,
and then even further forms of competition with contestable lands.
These are really exciting features that are going to make the gameplay
like something that I don't think we've really seen in Web3.
It's basically going to be a ton of economic gameplay
that people participate in day to day.
And if you just want to chill and farm,
you still have a role in there too.
But the players that want to progress further
through the end game have so much more interesting content
that is more around strategy, social alliance,
all of this side of things.
So two, the other thing that we're thinking about a lot
when we integrate all these features
is the earning mechanics too, because that is important.
But also that is one of the areas that you need to be quite careful with as you you know start to build so if you know this we've been tweaking around the
task board allocations a lot over the last week but it's going to be tweaked basically every
single day for the next like three to six months and what we're trying to kind of figure out is
one we want to get a better understanding of our users.
And we want to basically give rewards to the best users.
And this is going to take some time
to actually get the most efficient distribution of this, right?
As we start to learn how the game is played more,
as we start to get like better systems
like reputation inside of the game,
what we can actually do is we can better assign rewards
to the types of
users that we want to reward and grow the ecosystem even further so you know what this is going to
look like on the individual user basis is you are going to basically see like the amount of earnings
in your game change like day to day and it's going to be like a little you know interesting for
players early on right it's going to be something you you have to get used to. But as we dial this in better and better,
you're going to start to see more efficient systems form.
So big words.
But the key point that we're trying to do
is basically build a sustainable version of play to earn.
So if you guys are following along in the task board right now,
one key thing is there's actually a limited amount
of task board rewards that we give out per day. So we can adjust this pool and we essentially have a budget of task board
rewards that we can give out if you look in our tokenomics that's what this ecosystem rewards fund
is all about it's basically these rewards that we can give and if you look into tokenomics too
it's actually a really predictable supply that we get to distribute we get the same amount of tokens
every single month to distribute so right now that's actually you know quite sizable in terms
of the rewards that we can give but as we're thinking about reward distribution we also want
to make sure that we're doing in a sustainable way with token utility so kind of the stuff that
we're going to be experimenting with too is you know basically the more that we get you guys to use the tokens inside of the game more rewards that we can give out too so yeah my
key point here and like one thing i want to emphasize throughout the community is you know
we really are trying to do things with the long term in mind we really think that play to earn
can work but we want to do it in a way that hasn't really been done like this before so some of the
expectations that you might have
from prior generations of Web3 gaming
are going to be a little bit different this time, right?
But as you can see,
there's already pixel earnings inside of the game.
And this is kind of stuff that we're super excited
to experiment with.
And this is the kind of stuff that we think
is going to be innovated on in Web3 gaming.
And yeah, you already see the Axie team
has evolved their own version of
play there a ton and yeah we just love to be a part of like that next evolution too so yeah just
i want to temper expectations and i want to like emphasize sustainability in this next like cycle
the ecosystem i think all of us are a bit smarter um before um from previous cycles but it's going
to be a really fun exciting time so gameplay is coming it's going to be a really fun, exciting time.
So gameplay is coming.
It's going to get better and better.
The economics we're feeling really optimistic and happy about.
And yeah, it's going to be a really exciting journey.
And you guys are basically all on it with us.

I've been tweeting a little bit, mostly retweeting.
I was on the space yesterday, the Mario one, to do some chilling, I guess.
But I think, actually, I was here at the beginning of the space and I kind of want to echo a little bit of what Andrew was saying
in terms of feeling and sentiment it's yeah starting to get very it's a little bit it feels
very similar to what we what we felt early on in terms of just a lot of users being very excited
you know a lot of my normal friends are hitting me up you know want to see what's happening with
Axie and Ronan.
Even some of them got the pixels they dropped, which I always think is funny.
So I have some group chats there, which are blowing up a little bit.
It's fun to make it, but it's more fun to make it together.
I think that's kind of what I'm feeling right now.
So I think it's hard for me to really say where we are it feels early but it also feels
like it's getting very heated but uh but yeah that's I guess that's why I'm not tweeting so
much I think a lot of the learnings from from last cycle is like well people always come with
the receipts so if you are a little bit too aggressive on the tweets,
you know, you're going to really have to defend that, I guess,
later on when things go the other way, right?
It's a very interesting space that we're in here.
With that said, though, when we look at where Axie was at the peak,
I could easily see pixels surpassing that.
We have 2.7 million daily active players.
Will pixels go to 5, 10, 20 million?
I don't see that being unlikely.
Sustainability is definitely important.
But I also think we have to lean into the fact that people are interested in those speculative parts of crypto.
They come for the money and then they stay for everything that's around it.
To me, as kind of making Ronan and why are we still in the space if money is one part of it,
it's maybe not the main motivator anymore.
I think it's more about what crypto enables, even though I know a lot of people are like, well, crypto enables, you know, money, that's cool. But really, it's about
identity, owning your own data. And so these things, they mean a lot, the longer you go into
the cycle and the more heated things become, because you get a lot of scammers coming in,

we go to a team like wild forest you know they have a real product the pricing of these initial nfts assets you know they're not raising that
much money it's very tempered i would say in terms of actually building a game and shipping something
of value and and a lot of that comes from our learnings with axie in terms of what are the
expectations right if you sell nfts for you know 50 million dollars or whatever like the expectation
is that you're going to change the world like you're going to reinvent hundreds of hundreds of millions of jobs right i mean that's i guess
almost what at least the community thinks so maybe if you sell a thousand you know a hundred
thousand dollars two hundred thousand dollars of entities you know the game is going to be great
eventually and then they can keep building together with the community in the open and people have
more clarity on what's happening and they can take they can make the
decisions on their own about what is this thing based on the gameplay that that's there today
and to me that's much more healthy and i think the space is moving into a more healthy direction
but it's up to everyone i think to make these decisions on what they want to you know purchase
right now because you know so many promises will come in and people are like, oh, I can buy something now and then suddenly get 100 extra return in two weeks.
That's not realistic.
But it's very easy to get carried away.
So I also want to be a little bit like,
okay, guys, we've been through many cycles right now.
Let's not make all the same mistakes.

that I didn't understand in the moment. And it kind of took me a whole cycle to really understand
the intensity of what his advice was. But it was simple. Try not to think about it too much.
Basically saying like meditate, dude, chill. Don't get caught up in your own head. Don't get caught
up in your own ego. Just try not to think about it. Be present. Execute. Stay the course, a phrase that Alex likes.
And it was so simple and it cut so hard that in the moment, I didn't quite get it.
And I just wanted to share that very wise words from Trunk.
When you start to feel those feelings and the FOMO and the intensity, it is always important
to remember to take a deep breath and just slow down a little.
Everything here moves at turbo speed.
Yeah, yeah. I think i personally do that for myself um don't get me wrong i'm hyped right like i'm hyped about a lot of stuff you know this year has been fucking amazing um the back end of last year
was amazing and i've kept this like constant you know i don't tend to peak too high i don't dip too low um and i think
it's it's it's attached to the fact that like my mission here is is much much more long-term than
like the short-term victories that that can you know pull you away from um i guess a state of of of regular conscious like it allows me to stay
realistic um knowing that while the mission is greater we still have x amount more to do um and
ultimately nothing is finite uh until we genuinely see sight of that vision. And that vision genuinely is, you know, through the words of Ronin,
kind of bringing people in through the games.
But it's a much larger mission in terms of the education factor,
raising people's understanding of these things.
And, of course, facilitating a network that genuinely is the best in the world.
That's the mission.
I don't think anyone within Sky Mavis
would look at it from a different way.
That should be the pinnacle.
That's what we're trying to achieve
and all of the teams that work here
hand in hand with that mission.

It's a huge thing to talk about right now,

not to get too far on the euphoric spectrum and of course when you know certain things happen like we pull
back to axi homeland and you know don't get too far on the negative and you know each end of those
points on those polarities you can make crazy decisions that when people pull those receipts
they won't be like you were fucking crazy all right so
something i'll atone to this will probably make sense in the future fruiting fratten don't make
any sense to you right now but the fruit and fratten is about staying in between not being

did want to say though alexander you you touched on you know the the users that axie had at peak
and this is something that i really see with pixels is that the game itself is so much broader
in terms of desire for participation you know actually was the at the time where
the surge happened it was a card game right so unless you actually had some kind of appeal to
a card game of course there were the farmers playing classics and you know ai agents around
the world whatever right but pixels is a much more social experience there there is you
know there's huge potential to to grow the experiences that already exist in the game
and of course the social elements can drive and attract much more people so i genuinely do you
know agree with you on that statement pixels has a much larger capture potential than than what axi did in the last
cycle so and naturally as the crypto narrative at large moves forward you know more people are
going to be involved this cycle round it would it would be almost i wouldn't like to jump the gun

a burn mechanic because the the actually now only exists in pixels that's cool um i was actually i
mean some people don't get mad at me now because you might not have one but i was thinking more on the collector spectrum so enhancing the
nft itself of collectors maybe origins um mystics and maybe japanese and i don't know about summer
and all of that so it's like where do you draw the lines but i think there could be some two ends of
it there either you know the collectible aspect enhances its utility and interoperability or you
go down the route of of literally having a supply burn mechanic by taking an axi and pixelating it

so you need to have additional land
so that you're going to get additional resources
and use that for some kind of endgame loop
that potentially exists
but generally I'm just trying to prepare for the future
like okay I probably could have got way more pixel

I've been playing the game a lot
recently i've been getting that battle pass built up yeah yeah it's you know it's the three wins a
day slowly but surely it's yeah you guys give a quick high level tldr of like what genre it is
give me the elevator pitch of what this game is for the people listening that haven't really played

What are we looking at for the actual NFTs and tokens?

is that all of the individual units
that you play with are upgradable.

And you have to combine multiple cards together to produce higher level units.
And so it's kind of like part of the NFT element is kind of finally putting that on chain.
It's been off chain for the sort of like beta testing until they got things refined.
Now we're moving into sort of this next phase, which is where everything is going to go on chain.
And so that's what's minting Thursday is actual card packs.
There will be some cool elements with land ownership and some other stuff they've teased.

It's very accessible. It's pretty simple to understand and
you you you can pick it up really quick while you know other games there's other great games like i
love aperon as well but it's you know it's high level like you gotta understand the cards you gotta
you know strategize and all that so it'd be for a specific gamer but something like wild force
almost anybody can just play to at least enjoy and will enjoy the time that they use on
it so uh yeah i i have my big thumbs up for wild force i'm excited for the mint as well

universe building um with gameplay that is is is action-based is intense and you know keeps your attention but also there's
there's a lot more behind it you know um there's two genres that i think can win i really want to
hear from slug here in a sec but um two games that have not been figured out yet despite all
the hype and bullshit we've seen that are tried and true a really really good fighting game and
a really really good first person shooter and i really, really good first-person shooter.
And I don't think there's been a single version of a blockchain game
in that genre that's really had that AAA feel
or like, wow, this is going to have a million players one day.
We need Street Fighter and we need Counter-Strike
and those blockchain versions.
That would be the ender.

There's a lot of different takes on fighting games. There's a lot of different takes on fighting games.

and finding that right mix of,
do we want hardcore?

that's, which is more valuable.
And these are all really hard decisions
and part of why I don't think anyone's gotten it right.

for hours back when i was younger and uh this is much more fast paced it's not it doesn't definitely doesn't have like uh
the full mechanics as uh as intricate as uh starcraft was but it's there and it has potential
and it's blockchain integrated now so um yeah just uh it's eager to see what what they're
gonna do with it right yeah i've just been watching this ai arena uh finn bro it i'd okay all-time favorite games like if
someone gave me a option for more than just saying one like smash bros would be in there 100 percent
um it gives me that vibe it does and it you know it looks clean for example, Nickelodeon did like a Smash-style game.
I think it's called All-Stars.
I was that heavily into Smash Bros at the moment,
and the scene like died down a little bit.
And a lot of the players went over to play because, one, they were paid,
but, two, it was just like in the middle of boredom,
which is in a lot of different game environments right now.

like there's such a small range to actually achieve it and it's so easy to be
outside of that uh so actually creating a game that can compete on that standard and actually
pull players that are familiar with those things in the past without having them feel disgruntled
by like oh this is not anywhere near what i wanted it's gonna be really difficult so i don't know
about this ai arena but it does look cool cool artwork um but very very difficult game to create

like cater to them in a proper way and like help them succeed and like align with their values and
stuff like that but that will change with this uh new update um and yeah guilds are going to be
more important than ever uh things will be more competitive you know know how it is with groups,
when guilds are natural.
It's much more fun to compete
alongside your brothers in battle
versus just solo.
It's going to be great.

so big big big steps we're getting back and why a lot of us may be feeling that euphoric feeling
of the return um generally on paper we're kind of back to the same activity levels
um which is fucking it's
it's huge i know daily active addresses can be manipulated in certain ways whatever fuck you
but we're moving we're back up here uh we spoke about it earlier pixels a quarter of a million
daily active addresses um which is huge obviously a big spike since the pixel token came out um a lot of talk around aperon obviously on thursdays
we have biku with us and biku for me is like the the source of information for everything aperon so
make sure you're following biku um but they've grown huge over the last few weeks um 24 000
daily active addresses playing aperon so let's see how that one grows
but it's a lot of people a lot of players that's probably more than some fucking chains out here
anyway um keep it moving um but what we're basically seeing right now is the ronin conversation
is spreading people who aren't or weren't keen to talk about ronin having to talk about running it
is the conversation and you guys drive that um you know continue to go through these experiences
that you're going through playing these games you know it it is our superpower that most of us
are genuinely here to play some good games alongside the benefits of the on-chain
stuff that's going on so you know i did want to talk about run as an airdrop token now because
of what we saw with pixels um i was interested to ask you know travis here specifically on like
run itself obviously it's the play we fucking know right we know um
is there is there more is there more that a token can provide in terms of utility uh then obviously
adding the addition of an airdrop uh in terms of advantages like if we look at run like what is it
right now you know it's currency it's it's the the fuel for the
network itself for transactions it's obviously helps secure the network as well through proof
of stake and now we're seeing airdrops like what more could you ask from a token yeah so this is
something that i was i mean i i kind of caught wind of and kind of got me
excited um i've pinned the tweet that from i guess back in the day when it when impossible
five kind of first got announced and it's saying that um you know the amount of ron you have staked
and maybe even axs state could kind of uh be a criteria to your eligibility on some of their launchpad or one of their launchpad
tokens that they're going to have. And if I remember from last cycle, kind of pre-bull market,
the popular thing was to get involved in launchpads. From what I remember, there was like
Pokestarter, there's TrustSwap and a few others that, you know, if you own some of their tokens,
you can get seed round allocation. And then when the token launches, it was like a free others that, you know, if you own some of their tokens, you can get seed round allocation.
And then when the token launches, it was like a free 10x, like it was the easiest 10x if you could get in.
So seeing ImpossibleFi being kind of the launch pad on the Ronin network and that your Ron staked could get you that, you know, that in on some seed rounds.
If you have, if you like the game i'm like oh this is
this is a big utility this is this makes me super bullish and this yeah on top of the airdrops that
seem to be you know the meta right now so pretty cool stuff this is huge though to be fair because
part of the roadmap of course it's 2025 when we get to the reality of these things but um
the broadening of the decentral or
decentralized i don't know why i said this central but the broadening of the decentralized nature of
of ronin as a network um and you know you know do we think do we think we'll get to that point
like finn i'll ask you as like finn um like yeah largely don't want ronin to become this like space where just any and everything
is is possible to well i mean you do but you don't like it's like the you know i mean it's
a double-edged sword i i know you mean i think like we're kind of um i mean we're obviously

but there's an aspect of it which is a bubble.
We're existing in this ecosystem
which is largely at this point kind of controlled
and allows us to be deliberate.
Deliberate in the quality of product
that you get access to, that kind of thing.
The one aspect of that that's really good
when we think about eventually going permissionless
and allowing for other teams to build on Ronin
is that the standards for what passes the Ronin community
and what the Ronin community will rally behind,
it has to pass the check, right?
It has to pass the test.
And the test has always been, is it a quality product?
And if it doesn't pass the Ronin team's checkpoints,
the chances are it wouldn't pass the community's checkpoints.
And so I definitely understand.
I think when I hear people talk about,
what's going to happen when people can launch their own things,
I think that's fine.
It doesn't matter what people launch
because inevitably the community is going to be the
determining factor in if a launch is successful.
I think the Ronin community has learned the power they have
and the value that they have.
It's very likely that Ronin users are not going to be bamboozled
by low-par, poor-quality projects
that try and capitalize on Ronin.
We know that this happens all the time, right?
We talk about this, the vampire attacks
on the Ronin community, the engagement farming,
that kind of stuff.
I mean, you are a very high-value,
very valuable user base.
Probably the most valuable in Web3 right now.
Like, there isn't...
I actually don't think there's a community
that's more valuable than the Ronin community.
Like, bar none.

of what it means to be part of the Ronin community,
it largely is people who are not really
looking for what other chains have to offer
in the same ways, right?
You don't really come to Ronin because you're like,
man, I want to chase the next shitcoin.
That's not really the point.
The people who are here are very solely invested in one thing,
and that's playing really fun games, playing blockchain games,
integrating into Web3Tech through gaming.
And because that's the case, we don't see a huge outflow of users from Ronin.
And so a lot of people will come to Ronin and they're like,
oh my god, it's got to be all fake activity
because I don't see them going to other chains and other games.
And it's like, no, that's the whole point.
You don't see them going other places because they don't need to.
Everything they want and everything they love is in one place.
And it's loyalty.
Yeah, and Nick, you can attest to it too,
but the point of launching things like GCash
and having on-ramps that don't rely on the Ronin bridge
is intentional. It's because the process to onboard people
to a blockchain is really complicated. If I were to go to somebody
and be like, yes, you need to make a MetaMask wallet and then a Coinbase
or Binance account. You need to pass KYC. Then you need to
send money into that account, then you need to
send it to your Ethereum wallet and then bridge in. That's a lot of steps, right? Like that's,
that's a lot, that's complicated. So it's like, how do you create inflows that don't require that?
Well, you look at, you look at things like SheCash, you look at things like Binance Pay, you look at
like, what does someone have in their pocket? They have a phone, okay, what kind of apps can
you onboard through? And then the second angle of that,
and I think it's what makes the Ronin community
so powerful, is when we onboard our friends
to Ronin, we send them Ron.
We send them Ron to get
started, and we encourage them to play.
We send them Axies.
There is no need for an
inflow from having an Ethereum wallet, because
our community onboards
in one of the best ways possible.
I don't think you see that on other chains to the same degree. I can't even tell you how much Ron
