Thank you. Thank you. Hey there. Welcome welcome everyone. Welcome back to another episode of Desai Mike. This week
we've got an exciting topic. Gitcoin funding round GG21 is like a big, big topic of interest, lots of discussion
around it.
And then also Zuzalu in Q2 is also something that we've been hearing more and more about
in the past weeks.
As usual, I'm joined by Aaron McGinnis,
who's behind the Desai Mike account.
And, yeah, with that, I'll turn it over to Aaron.
Amazing. Super excited for this conversation today and to be able to highlight all of the awesome projects that are published
out there on either the Zuzulu Q2 Gitcoin round or are about to be published on the
Desai community round for GG21, which will be opening in the upcoming days. The Zuzulu
Q2 round will be closing in the upcoming days on August 6th,
so if you see a project or hear a project during this space that you're excited by,
definitely reach out to them and either get involved, donate, vote, and support all of
these awesome initiatives. So I know we have a couple people here in the audience right now
who either have projects already submitted or I know you have in the past.

So I'll hand it off to Barrett to share about some of the proposals that are live under the Muse Matrix ecosystem right now.

So yeah, I will try to keep it brief because I definitely want to get a bunch of other
people onto the stage as they gradually join.
Yes, we've got two in the current Zuzola Q2 and I think probably one of the, at least one of it will be in the Q121.
The first one is, you know, Muse Matrix itself.
So those that are unfamiliar,
we run a six month long fellowship
where we take together a bunch of scientists,
a bunch of web three developers,
a bunch of AI people, a bunch of ZK people,
really people that in kind of normal life don't have opportunities to cross-pollinate, aren't in spaces which they will naturally interact. need these spaces where these groups of people are hanging out, are learning about each other's
domain expertise and then have some kind of support to be able to brainstorm ideas and then
build those out. So the first cohort we launched right at the end of May and they have just finished
their training, the teaching component. Pamela I can see is listening, she's one of the fellows.
And we're just entering the stage of building out
and sculpting out a project which we've got an idea for.
I think we've spoken about it before,
like a data verification layer.
And really the focus of this week and next week is just Hello?
I thought I might have gotten rubbed, but maybe Barrett did.

and we're launching more cohorts.
And the second project, which is on the Q2 round,
is about Castalia, and that's the one we spoke about last week.

But in short, it's a pop-up city focused on Desai
and its intersection with AI, public goods, and CK.

Muse Matrix, and then the Decentralized Pandemic Defense Network. Hopefully, we'll hear from
Neurofusion as well, from Ori, and some of the work he's doing with EEG data. And the second tweet kind of in that thread is highlighting a bunch of
other projects, either in the Zuzulu Q2 round, that's kind of the first line of the tweet. And
then after Desai round ops, those are all projects that have already submitted to the Gitcoin DSI from GG21.
So be on the lookout for those upcoming DSI projects.

Yeah, it's always a pleasure.
I love the design mic every week.
So it's fantastic to be here again.
Yeah, so indeed, as Aaron said, we have applied for GG21.
And I'm going to be honest, compared to our application for GG20 not much has changed our plan to have a successful token launch and
eventually fund some personalized medicine research is going um quite well getting some
delays on the legal and tax side we kind of underestimated how many funds that aspect required so we are doing our best to
fulfill all those obligations and and be as compliant as possible and yeah so for the people
that don't know what Poseidon Dye does yeah we we aim to fund personalized medicine research in the most decentralized way possible.
We have spent a lot of time building out the on-chain governance infrastructure.
We've been working on that for a year.
And we did that because we thought it's very critical to start off as decentralized as possible
But it's very critical to start off as decentralized as possible and just adhere to that from the
start instead of having to change governance systems midway, which could be problematic.
So yeah, that's what we've been building on most.
Also another surprise for us financially is that um yeah we need to audit
those smart contracts so that it's gonna cost a lot of money as well but hopefully with our
token launch we can cover some of that and and still fund some research projects um and yeah
so we focus on personalized medicine because well we, we think that might be one of the most interesting aspects of how to do science for, let's say, cancer research.
We have a lot of fundamental information about cancer, but we don't have any direct connection with the clinic.
So some people can also describe this as the valley of death,
meaning that there's not enough research that kind of bridges
the fundamental research with the clinical research.
And personalized medicine research
focuses on mainly identifying the genetic background of a certain patient
patient that is responsive to a certain treatment and whatever treatment that may be immunotherapy
chemotherapy and in that way we can screen the patient for their genetic profile and then give
the right treatment to the right patient
without having to go through all kinds of different treatments that might not work or
might not be compatible with that patient. So that's first lesbians in a nutshell and
yeah we need more money we we really need more money in that in that space and hopefully we can
we can play a role in that and and hopefully with some support through gg21 we could hopefully
yeah kickstart our project so that that's Poseidon Dive in a nutshell. I don't hear you, Eric.

I was just, you know,
sort of fanboying a little bit,
you know, saying that,
you know, I think the work
that you're doing
is extremely important.
You know, personalized medicine,
you know, is going to make
the stuff that we're doing
look like, you know,
I don't know, ancient medicine,
let's say, if that makes sense.
Yeah, well, let's hope. Like Ayat and I, we are the co-founders for Poseidon Down, we have quite some experience in personalized medicine. And i'm even close to publishing
some articles on personalized medicine where we try to identify genetic profiles that are
associated with sensitivity to something we called oncolytic viruses not sure you're familiar with
that but these are like the good viruses the viruses that can kill cancer cells and we know
that these viruses work but only in a small subset of the patients and i'm actually finishing up
writing that article about um yeah certain genetic profiles that might be associated with each
yeah, certain genetic profiles that might be associated with each type of cancer-killing virus.
So, yeah, thank you for the kind words, and we are really doing our best to make a dent in this space.
Amazing. Such important work that you guys are doing. I'm super excited for what you're building
out and kind of some interest growing across the broader D-Cite ecosystem, really focused on
some of the personalized medicine approaches or rare disease situations and bringing genetics into this whole equation as well. And as we're
thinking about kind of the bigger picture of how health kind of evolves throughout our lifespan,
longevity is also a super key piece of that and kind of a core part of that conversation. So we'd
love to bring it over to James and ARC and some programming you have lined up in September, as well as what you're working towards big picture.

Thank you for putting this on. I guess. Yeah. Hi, everyone. I'm James and I'm one of the organizers at ARK,
which is going to be a one month long pop-up city
this September 10th to October 10th in Lisbon.
I guess when I look at it,
one of the really interesting things
that is coming off the back of this sort of Zuzalu movement
is we're realizing that maybe the environment
that we live in day to day
could be more optimally designed for certain outcomes.
Like maybe we could have an environment that makes us happier or more productive or have more impact.
And I guess as we look at ARK, we're trying to build a foundation really for great high potential people to do great things at least to make it
easier and to increase the likelihood that they succeed at doing great things that hopefully
impact a much wider world than you know than just the perhaps the you know the groups on these on
these calls and sort of uh zoos allo um so we've got a month-long program and it's not purely on Deci. We have some stuff on
CryptoCities and we have some stuff on more kind of like generic web-free ZK kind of like AI
kind of like technology stuff but one of the three pillars is solely kind of like on DSI, on health and biotech and longevity.
And again, as part of ARC being a foundation,
it's actually a whole bunch of other incredible
organizations that are actually delivering
the experience that is gonna be happening there.
So as part of this pillar,
we have LEBETH, the Longevity Escape Velocity Foundation,
and Caitlin's on this call and she'll say something in a second.
We also have Muse Matrix themselves.
Muse is doing so much amazing work across this ecosystem,
and it's amazing that hopefully ARC is also going to help them
to deliver amazing mini fellowship at ARC, and I hope to meet some of you there as well.
So again, thank you, Muse Matrix,
for also being involved in ARK.
We have Vitalia as well as another one of the partners
at ARK.
I was very fortunate to spend significant time
at Vitalia earlier this year
and actually returned last month. And they're going to be delivering a series of events and workshops
uh kind of like over the month uh as well uh and then we have laver as well uh the aubrey and
caitlin uh kind of like lead that will be putting a bunch on um but yeah like again like arc is all
about trying to create an environment which just allows great people to flourish.
And, you know, we'd super support, you know, the sort of like combined project that we have in the Zuzali round.
We'd love it if you can support us.
It's titled Fora, Lebef, and, you know, at ARK.
And Fora is one of the partners that's leading that city's track.
But I won't talk about that here as it's not so relevant.
But yeah, reach out if you think it's something that could be useful for you as well.

and what they might be doing there.

So yeah, because there are gonna be so many capable people
with different backgrounds, different areas of expertise
in the same locale, we really want to be able
to utilize that.
And so Aubrey and I are both gonna be there hoping
to kind of crowdsource both ideas
in terms of tackling some of the
harder problems in the aging field coming up with potential solutions for that and then possibly in
conjunction with some of the founders and builders and other people who are going to be there
thinking about okay can we actually implement some of these things to make more progress in the field
aside from that we also have a ton of data from our current RMR, robust
mouse rejuvenation study. And it's a massive amount of data that's impossible for us to
come through. And so probably in conjunction with MuseMatrix and some of the other people
who are there, hoping to perhaps get through some of this and utilize people who are data mining,
who have ideas about how we might want to analyze this,
who might want to do a write-up and publish something because this is,
this is a community endeavor. So we're,
we're really looking forward to this event and being able to,
to work with some of these people. And yeah, I think that's it.

Awesome. Super excited to be collaborating with both of you on this pop-up city in September,
and hopefully more things continuing on into the future as well. I think that's really one of the benefits of this entire
ecosystem is just the opportunity to be able to collaborate in interesting ways that help each of
us keep working towards our individual or organizational goals and really kind of uplifting everyone moving forward in science and health and DSI as well. With that, I'll jump over to
Kiba. Would love for you to share what you're building at Ginny Health and the proposal you
have live right now and the Zuzulu Q2 round. So if you're into what he's saying, definitely go check out his project there. If
you were at Zuzulu or Zoo Connect and vote to support that. Hey, what's up everyone? Good to
see you all again. Yeah. So I'll start by saying like a genie is not like necessarily DeSci native
or is what we call in like the crypto sphere. I don't know if you guys are familiar with that
term like DeFi native or crypto native, but it's like very tangential to like a lot of
ideas and concepts that I think you guys are exploring so a it's like very related to longevity
so it's a self-actualization game is the kind of the the term that I've coined and it's based on
Tomogotchi so it's kind of this way that you can visualize a lot of data around your health
and help you understand how you've been progressing and kind of like where you need to go and how you've been developing.
And then also just like it's an easier way to interpret the data instead of it being like charts and graphs.
You get this like cute little animal that evolves over time based on what you've been doing in the real world. So I'm tracking different data from like Apple health and also like productivity
and like financial data and social data and kind of aggregating and using AI to like analyze it.
And then kind of, yeah, displaying that in this like little animal, cute animal for you.
So yeah, I think it's like a very related longevity and then also like decentralized data
and data collection and potentially like decentralized trials even depending on what data sources we integrate.
So we've been talking or I've been talking with the DTrials team with like the hardware watches that they have to see if we can collaborate with that.
And then, yeah, also we've been like kind of my go to market strategy currently is interfacing with these different pop-up cities. So I was,
yeah, at Zuzulu and ZooConnect and Vitalia, and I'm actually at Zoo Village, Georgia right now.
So I see these communities as A, being like ideal target user groups in terms of like they're very
technology focused and they're interested in like experimentation. And then there's also the health
focus of these communities. And so I think it's like a really good way to activate them and i'm also working on a way for
like the communities as a whole to visualize their health so it's not just like individuals of like
how much have i been running but also together like are we as a community uh living healthily
whether that's like doing dinners together or exercising together or things like that um so yeah i I'm really excited to be building it and interfacing with the D-Site community
because you guys are actual scientists and I would like to be very experimental focused
with how we approach the whole data side of things and how we help people understand their
data and help them change their behaviors and things like that.
So yeah, really excited to be involved and participating with you behaviors and things like that. So, yeah, really excited to be involved
and participating with you guys and stuff like that.
And, yeah, we're in the Zulu Q2 round right now
for the tech round.
And then I'm also planning on applying for the Deci round
and the Gitcoin general Gitcoin round stuff.

Super glad you'll be applying to that round as well.
And really what you're working on
is such an important part of this broader trend
of the pop-up cities and startup societies
and network states,
all of these different spaces where people are convening.
And I think one thing that you're working on that a lot of us in in DCI as we keep building need to focus on as well as just the user experience and interface of that to make sure all of these
awesome things we're working on are are usable and enjoyable for everyone interacting with them. So if you're not yet familiar with what Kibo is working on at Jenny Health,

It's just a mobile app.
So yeah, very easy and just integrates with services
that you probably

Hello, everybody. Thanks for having me up.
Yeah, I come from the regenerative movement,
looking at the roots of health, whether they be human or environmental,
understanding what are we ingesting? What are the toxins? What are we missing
that we are ingesting? Whether it be, you know, through all of our senses, how does that affect
our health? How does that bring on disease? And so our feeling from what we've learned, um, is that,
um, it really starts with understanding true nutrition, um, true, um, biome and understanding the toxins that we take in and their effects on us.
I have a YouTube playlist in my profile, which shows a lot of the scientific research that
we're doing, both in the lab and on farms, to understand how all this works, because
we feel it's going to be hard to solve diseases
as long as we keep ingesting things that stimulate these diseases.
So we need to really collaborate along the movement from the soil to the researchers
that are working on understanding these diseases.

That's such kind of a great kind of next point
from the rest of the convo,
from longevity to looking at all the different factors
that are at play with different diseases
and just personalized medicine
and then some of the different lifestyle

what are we eating and ingesting and what are some of these other really major factors in our day-to-day life and how does that affect us from a health
perspective or just kind of what does the science of all this say overall.

Hi, everyone.
I'm building Neurofusion, and our mission is very similar to kind of what other people
have been talking about.
We're building open source tools for collecting health, behavior, and brain data in community
settings.
We've noticed now that that is the right place to essentially validate whether things that
people are doing actually have effects and allow other people to try them out also.
So we've been in pop-up cities from ZooConnect where we looked at how cold plunges and your
brain activity relates together.
Because a big part of what we're doing now is saying,
now that we can interface and record the brain with smaller at-home EEG headsets,
can we merge that data with other contextual information about our days,
sleep, things that we're doing,
to then make more personalized inference from that.
But the interesting thing that we also realize is other people have those questions too.
Different researchers looking at varying areas of how people change and how can we try interventions. And so we introduced quests that allow them to essentially probe people in day-to-day
settings just when they
define the questions people respond to, or the metrics that they collect, and then kind
of publish those results. So that's essentially what we've been up to. We've been working
with folks from MUSE matrix also, and the decentralized science community. So, yeah.
Yes, I have really enjoyed working with you and being able to kind of build some of the different things happening in the DSi space into some of these different
technologies that have existed for a while, such as EEG, brainwave, and just kind of headset
trackers. So that's one movement within the DSi space I'm also super excited about. It's just
kind of the integration of these established or older technologies, either hardware or software, with some of the newer capabilities that blockchain
and other type of newer technologies are allowing for. So if you were at Zuzulu and Zuconnect,
definitely check out NeuroFusion on the Q2 tech round to learn more about what he's building and support him there as well.

actually daniel anna firma i'm part of the um co-contributors at disi africa and um this africa
is like it's a community trying to spread the awareness of decentralized science here in africa
um we we we submitted an application for um gg21 and uh that's like basically why not just why i'm
here because i enjoy the decide mike talks on um wednesday it usually used to be on thursdays
we're like yeah i think on wednesdays too so it's like a good way to like see other projects and
interact with them and see what they're doing and so for us we we are community
and we are based with them education so we do more of um we create content around educations of um
design essential license and um tell people about it and recently um there was the mo acra event
which was a pop-up city for two weeks at um acra in ghana it was like last month um june i don't know if
anybody heard about it but yeah so as part of the moon network they made they did a more acra event
so it was like for two weeks and it was fun because um we had like a lot of people they were
like 80 more than 89 residents present and about like six different people like six different countries and present so it was like
it was like good diversity there was um understanding we got to like network and
learn a lot so during like the event there was a design presentation so we did
the design presentation like to let people know about this good number of people prior to this did not
know about it so we basically like give an introduction to what decentralized science is all
about and we also shared the um this road map which was made by research research hub foundation
and we were able to like use it to talk about each project that's where present there and talk about
what they do ranging from you know
people and research of which are in the publishing part to the dows that are like democratizing how
funding happens in this place to um other projects like other communities like this
are asia this is mexico um this is lata this is boston this is new york and so on and so forth so it was like a good time and all
and you know we some ideas were shared we had like some community engagement and all
so we're looking to like continue to work and i think the plan is to be present at
it safari which is coming up in september so yeah nice to be here as well. Amazing. Thanks so much for sharing.
Definitely a lot of things happening that you were able to touch on
and really appreciate you sharing some of those exciting things

Good morning from here, from Mexico.
And also we are, well well today we are upload or proposal
as you know we are committed to engage to disseminate the knowledge the design knowledge
and the design in our country and also we are um reforming or roadmap recently we learned something about law and economics things
in blockchain so we are what you you will see our proposals and throughout the day
and we are engaged with with with to improve the scientific research in Mexico using blockchain tools and also principally in universities about the
basis of blockchain and then more focus on design science my background is in
biology I am biologist and my team is our team is sorry my son is here my team
is conformed for other biologists and also developers in Web3.
We are trying to do some platforms to be more inclusive in rural zones in Mexico
to teach them about science and how to do a bridge between these communities and science in general.
So it's nice to see more projects here.
And also we are open to collaborate with other communities.

Hey, everybody. Yeah, I'm Yatan. I'm happy to be here. I actually, I joined in just out of curiosity. There are, well, I am active in the T-Sci space.
I'm one of the core contributors of Cerebrum DAO.
So we're looking at neurodegenerative disease.
And there's a couple of people here.
I'm already going to reach out.
We're looking at decentralized clinical trials.
How could we, yeah, how can we just bring more and faster and more effective science to this
space which is quite a quite a sad space you know with a little hope uh and uh I think we can we can
really accelerate this a lot so um that's one of my hats the other one yeah you mentioned it I'm a
contributor at ironed out That's a different topic.
It's CollabTech, but it's another one of the topics that's here in GG21.
And what I am interested in is actually I'm in Colombia. I already spoke to Pamela about the same topic a bit ago on starting something off here,
maybe just in Colombia,ombia but maybe also
on a caribbean level since this is like a it's a region of the world that's that's that's quite
tightly connected and i wanted to see how to how to do that in the most successful way
probably just starting with the universities that are here in the Caribbean area of Colombia and doing some awareness campaigns.
So I haven't posted the proposal yet, but I will do that along those lines.
How to bring more design and more awareness to the topic here and onboard people onto tooling.

Really glad to have representation
from the organizing team really allowing for these GG
DCI rounds to keep taking place.
And super excited that there are more folks joining kind of the
operations team for this round, keep things moving forward. There's a good amount of match already in
place, so hopefully we can continue supporting these side projects throughout this upcoming round and moving into the future as well.
One note kind of related to this DSI round ops team. They've been a good collaborator of the
DSI research team, which is focused on doing a DSI landscape analysis. That second report will be coming out in the
upcoming weeks, just finalizing some different edits there. They'll be
submitting a project or a proposal into this round to get some support on that
front. So that's one other project to be on the lookout for, just as kind of recap report for the ecosystem of where things are at there right now.
Awesome. I think everyone up here has shared a little bit about their project so far, but I know sometimes I'll remember something I wanted to say a few minutes afterwards. So if that's the case for any of the

which is a little bit more general question, not tied to the specific topic.
If that's okay. Yeah, we
have a couple of minutes. As long as it's on the topic of D site, then we can do it.

I would like to ask, because I was on a previous space with GG21,
and I really like the topic of tokenization of the IP,
sharing that across the board within the variety of the institution and the other guys.
I would like to ask the question in terms of the navigation of the project and that
is let's supposed to say somebody gonna came and say hey here is the ip here is some of the knowledge
let's tokenize it somebody's going to tokenize it and then they are going to find out
And then they are going to find out it has been actually been applied in some way, in some shape.
And actually, you know, some of the things has been built on the top of that.
But at the end of the day, none of the results came to the original creator.
So I was wondering, you know, if you can talk a little bit more about it, if you have some other way about it.
That is the question. Was that a clear question?
Are you saying if an individual person or lab or organization is developing the IP, if value is created down the line and then recognition of that value doesn't go back to the original creator or if value isn't even created in the first place?
Sure. The value might be creating in terms of the creation itself. At the same time, I do not understand what is the purpose then of the tokenizing the IP if there is anything related back other than say, hey, okay, we did it. Thank you. See ya. Yeah, so specifically tokenizing IP is like a product that the molecule ecosystem is heavily focused on.
And there's a lot of other amazing efforts kind of more broadly being built out across the rest of the DeSci ecosystem that expands beyond
that.

You know, when we are trying to navigate with all of that stuff, I was just, you know, curious, you know, how that could be taking place in the future, you know, where there could be some additional stuff other than say, hey, okay, thank you, we have saw the stuff.
We could even build the stuff, you know, it has been, you know, broadly accepted and etc.
That's it.
You know, I was thinking, you know, if there's, you know, anything other than that in that specific manner.
