Hello everyone, good evening and welcome to tonight's space.
I believe everyone can hear me.
Good evening, good evening, loud and clear.
Yes, I can hear you.
Yes, can you hear me?
Good evening, everybody.
Good evening, good evening.
so yeah welcome guys to tonight space i believe everyone can hear me
yes i can hear you can you hear me yes i can hear you now the network is a little bit better
but my my voice is louder clay yes no problems on my side
so guys tonight we have a serenity shield here with us to discuss about privacy and digital rights for
everyone so yeah before we get started uh i would love to team to introduce themselves tell us how
they got into the space how they got into the space and you know uh how has the journey been like
so yeah uh let's start with uh nikos uh please you have the mic yeah good evening thank you very much
for having us tonight on the secret africa spaces i will get straight to it my name is nikos i have
a background in professional management consultant consultancy i've got experience as an investor
and trader and i came to the space initially as a forex trader about 10 years ago and developed my
skills in technical analysis before moving into community work around about 2016 and then growing
my experience from there worked with a couple of other projects in the past more most recently with
the ghost trader team before moving on to serenity shield i've got a bit of an entrepreneurial
background myself in digital media and web design and that has led me very nicely to the position of
head of marketing and communications at serenity shield so i'll hand over to my colleagues dan and
then justin yes uh thank you nikos and then i'll just uh echo what nikos already said you know thank you
guys for having us it's really nice to be able to uh get out into the community and share a lot about
what we're doing internally and what we have planned so a little bit about me uh i'm i'm a little older
than most of the people on the team i got into cryptocurrency and and the blockchain world uh a
little late i started about two years ago now and i got in because mostly i i noticed that uh the entire
um the entire uh economy is rigged and and so is our um so is our privacy and i saw this as as a
an alternative to that and i think that we have the tools to make that a reality as far as my background
is concerned i come from more of a um an academic uh background initially and then i was in finance for
a while and ironically enough i'm sort of the every man on the team uh i i'm actually a blacksmith and
a knife maker so um but that doesn't really you know kids have this annoying habit of wanting to
eat every few hours so it's not as uh not as uh well paying as as you might think but um i'm i'm the
chief content creator for the team i sort of um bring everything together and and distill it down so that
uh we can communicate with our with our community a little bit better so and i'll uh send it over to
justin hey everybody my name is justin um i came to the crypto space around 2017 as a trader with
little experience and a lot of money to lose so that's how i entered the market um i have a business
in uh like a small business background and entrepreneurship in my my background so i was
always drawn to the crypto space as a way to hopefully be able to find a project worthwhile
uh to work with to actually build something that the space can use and i am grateful that i found
serenity shield to help uh you know accomplish that personal goal of mine but then also to be able to
bring forward technology that will help shape what web 3 is going to be and hopefully make this a
better space for everybody involved yeah thank you very much for those introduction you guys are
ogs in the uh ecosystem that's really great so yeah uh welcome everyone to tonight's uh space with
serenity shield so uh let's get started to tonight's event so tonight we will be discussing about
security privacy and digital rights for everyone so let's uh get started uh get started with the
first question so now uh can you tell me what is security on blockchain and web 3 what do you
understand by security on blockchain web 3 because i believe some people here don't really get the
concept when we are talking about security on blockchain on web 3 as well
so i'll take that um so from the security standpoint for web 3 what we're talking about here is the
ability for a user to connect to our dap using a wallet of their choosing have full autonomy and
self-sovereignty over whatever they want to do with their assets in terms of securing access to them
um we use a three nft key system in our strongbox technology which means that when you create a
strongbox which we can get into more later but the very high level view is we use the nfts as keys to
validate your identity with the smart contract hosted on secret network so that you are the only person
that can access your data once you created that smart contract with the strongbox dap so that's what
we're talking about when we talk about security um also has uh hand in hand with privacy because we
chose to build on the secret network which comes from privacy by default so we we don't want our
users at any time to feel like they can't maintain their privacy which everybody has the right to in the
digital space while also seeking secure means to um keep access of their own data to themselves
yeah that's awesome because i believe uh when it comes to the blockchain security and privacy
has always been a problem i've seen a lot of rage i've seen a lot of scams a lot of uh acts going on
on this blockchain which is security and privacy so now let's talk about uh digital rights in web3
so now because uh uh so far i've never heard about having digital rights in web3 because uh nfts and
some other concepts in web3 doesn't offer all these digital rights so we don't have access to these
things so what can we say is digital rights in web3 sure so i'll uh i'll come in there on digital rights
and it's a very good question you ask and i think it's one of the fundamental reasons why we came to the
space in the first place to give you a better understanding i think we can all relate to the
term human rights and we all have a loose understanding of what we mean when we talk
about our human rights but very few people understand what we're trying to say when we're
referring to our digital rights and for us it's an energy shield living within the technological era
that we we are digital rights for us is recognizing the rights of every individual person
to have fair access to have use to create to publish digital media and also simply the right
to have access to a computer and electronic device and telecommunications that would benefit their
life and allow them to live their life in a better and easier way and when you break that down
some of the key components that make up those digital rights are things like that universally
universal and equal access it's also freedom of expression information and communications in the
space but for us relating to our product it's particularly circled around your privacy and data
protection and how citizens or people or individuals having control over their own personal data and to be
able to use their their personal data for themselves and that means having that layer of anonymity
as well that justin just talked about i just touched upon when it comes to our self-sovereignty so
that's a very very brief snapshot of what we see as digital rights and we believe that as we move in
to the technologic era deeper and deeper our digital rights are under threat and it's up to a collaborative
team of different people from different backgrounds to work together to try and raise awareness around their
subject and work together with other projects and other teams within the blockchain space to enhance
those digital rights of users globally i'm going to jump in there real quick on that to follow up on
what nikos was saying you know in when you hear a lot of people discuss the the topic of privacy
uh you'll hear a lot of people complain or criticize government surveillance or government uh you know
trying to find out about our private lives but what people a lot of people are just now coming around to
the to the realization that it's not just big brother that you have to worry about it's also what what i
have termed little brother and i look at that as you know um commercial interest you've got your amazon
you've got your facebook you've got your google they're selling our information they're making
money off of us off of our our personal data and you know there's there's the old at the old adage that
if if you don't know what the product is if you're not paying for it the product is you and that's exactly
what what the paradigm of web 2.0 has been all about it's about commodifying uh as as as consumers
it's been about commodifying our data and our our our information web 3 specifically this this new
age of what we're moving into is all about reversing that power dynamic it's about putting the power to
control our data our information back into our own hands and the most important critical first step
is ensuring that we have privacy and that's what this is all about so
hey justin do you want to add to what they've just said justin in terms of the sense of of of privacy
and everybody's right for that is it like in that regard
can you hear me yeah we can hear you oh okay sorry yeah no i mean dan hit the nail on the head
with little brother uh you look at like the facebook and the amazon integration for everything you do
every movie that you watch anywhere you go ever we're talking right now probably on cell phones i'm
certainly using mine my cell provider knows where i am they know where i live they know what i do where
i go i mean that's a pretty scary proposition when you think about moving into web 3 more and more
that all it takes is one industry or one big corporation that might not have people's interests
at heart to come and try to monetize the data that's freely floating around web 3 right now
even if people don't think it is when you look at a decentralized uh system you're still
interacting with something that actually tracks like where your public key has been what transactions
that public key is tied to if you dox yourself to your wallet now you've told everybody in the world
what your transactions are your whole payment and buying history you can actually inadvertently
make yourself a victim to scammers and worse that might target you for your on-chain wealth
so when i really talk about the privacy aspect from where i'm coming from with it
it's the full ability for me to basically say nobody has access to what i don't want them to
have access to and that's really at the the central pillar of what we're doing here with serenity shield
we want every single person that uses our product to be able to come here and educate themselves on
what can go wrong from a security and privacy standpoint and know how to utilize the tools at
their disposal to make sure that they protect themselves oops excuse me protect themselves
and their loved ones because you know with mass adoption of crypto that just means more and more
people in the marketplace and not all of those people will be good so you do definitely want to make sure
that you're putting your privacy above all
you guys have absolutely you know uh explain this and if i actually killed it uh because i believe privacy
yeah because i believe privacy is very important and digital rights i i said someone some a few months
ago ago i was on earlier space i was searching for some items to buy then i added some of those items
to my cards then whenever i'm using all these applications on my phone all those items i've added
to my card they usually advertise all those items to me because my data is public today they have access
to everything i'm doing on my mobile so i was like uh this really doesn't make sense why would i keep
advertising some of those stuff i've put into my cards because they have access to my phone uh which is
really bad because i feel i don't have that digital rights to do whatever it is i want to do and our
user our assets and data uh are stressed because it's been exposed to the to the public so uh now let's
go to the next question so now uh what is uh what is she really issued because uh a lot of people are
into this space and most of them don't really know what uh what is unity should so uh can you explain to us
what is serenity shield the whole concept of serenity shield sure uh so serenity shield is
essentially if we go back a little bit i was i was added to the product the project in january however
nikos had been working on this for months before he and i even knew each other uh in the space so this
is probably the best best for nikos to take this question really absolutely justin no problem so to
answer what serenity shield is i think we should answer why serenity shield exists and i think
anyone in this space that has been here long enough can relate to stories of asset loss of scams hacks if
it's not happened to them they know their story where it has happened and for myself this was actually
a true story where i lost significant value of my asset and along with a very close friend of mine who
now works on the project we had basically got to a point where we reached the point of having
enough and it was time to try and do something so with our collective experience we came together with
a couple of others and we talked about developing an idea and a concept that we had which would
with time empower the user and the blockchain user to store their data in a safe secure and private
manner and fundamentally what serenity shield is it's solving that blockchain problem that i've just
highlighted with a blockchain solution and it's it's something a term that we use often to really
highlight exactly what we're trying to achieve fundamentally our product which is the strongbox is
designed to offer an innovative approach to the inheritance issue which is one form of loss but
also through the it's also designed to provide a secure storage solution for our confidential data
and our private keys that govern the wallets that we are all familiar with whether that be our metamask
a phantom or polygon wallets whatever it might be it is designed and it exists for that reason
and it's very important that as we move forward we raise awareness to this problem i think two years
ago three years ago the the numbers that were being uh pushed out in media were something around 14
billion dollars lost in the space and if that doesn't scare anyone it really should because it could
happen to any one of us at any time and i think it's very important that we understand that there are so
many different ways and so many technical ways that our data can and could go missing and that data is
ultimately what governs and controls our access to our treasured wallets and those wallets that we all
have and we've all taken the time to build portfolios and structure our investments and our assets
whatever that might be they hold varying degrees of significance and importance in our life depending on
where we are what we're trying to achieve and for me for example a lot of what i'm trying to put
together and my portfolio that i'm growing was intended for my future and that that loss that i
experienced uh could have it could have put me in a dark place and i'll be honest it was it was a testing
time but taking that negative we've managed to turn it into something positive and we believe that with
serenity shield we can actually use that and that story and that vision to help others and help them
avoid the pitfalls that we have faced and that is that is fundamentally what serenity shield is
it's obviously not the technical explanation but at the core it explains why we exist what we what we
intend to achieve and what we're trying to solve and it's important to note too nico's hit the nail on
the head with we are in this space to create generational wealth or make our own lives a
little bit more comfortable for the short time we have on this earth right you value your digital
assets whether it's nfts or tokens whatever it is that has value you've invested money into it even
if your portfolio is down right now you still know that the bear and bull market trends are going to turn
around and the market's going to increase and if you position yourself right at the time you could
really benefit in a couple of years on the next bull run you should be protecting those assets like
crazy and that's what this product allows people to do and that's what our company is based on is
give give users or you know maybe new or uh i mean i was certainly there i as a new crypto user in 2017
i had absolutely no idea what i was doing i i was having uh screenshots of my secret phrases on my
phone and just thought that that was okay you know it's little things like that that people don't
understand that is a huge pitfall and that they're bad habits and the reason why something like serenity
shield is so important it allows people to still use like a digital means of protecting their seed
phrases without having to go out and buy a physical thing like a ledger and then lose it or you know
have it stolen or be broken we're essentially like a ledger type technology but using the blockchain
to make sure that we're allowing everybody to have 24 7 365 access to their assets should they want to
unlock a strong uh strong box and then retrieve what's inside i mean that goes with you everywhere
and i always think about it this way too if we are the early adopters of blockchain and we truly believe
in the technology as it currently exists today that means we're going to be the ones to propel it into
the future with stronger and stronger tech and that comes through supporting companies with innovative
ideas and then having those companies with innovative ideas listen to the communities that
we're actually out here trying to help make a positive impact within and that's really what this ama is
about and what we talk about behind the scenes every single day when we get up i mean we're driven to
get out of bed in the morning to face the challenges of an extremely fast-paced crazy scam filled uh
you know market we want to we want to be that like beacon of shining light that allows people to take a
breath slow down plan ahead protect their assets there's there's another aspect of this that that rarely
if ever uh gets gets addressed and that's very simply that people underestimate how early we are and
now let me explain why this is an important point i mean we hear that we hear oh we're so early you
know we can't believe how early we are yes but here's the thing blockchain technology is going to be applied to
every single industry out there so let me bring this let me let me boil this down to brass tacks for
you if you own a house that is going to be tokenized at some point the the paperwork the the deed all the uh
the title searches all that stuff that is going to become tokenized you're going to need a way to track all
that stuff you're going to need a way to protect all that stuff this technology is coming to every single
industry that we that has been that has that is touched by the digital age okay so if we don't get
this solution put into place now before everything takes off the horses are already out of the gate
we're playing catch up the whole time and we don't have i mean look at web 2 look at exactly how much
we've all been compromised because of that because we did not get out in front of this
before that entire phenomenon took off what this allows us to do what the opportunity that we're
we're witnessing right now and that we're a part of is that we're part of the solution that's going to
help solve all of that and what i think the the biggest takeaway from that is the entire team
here at serenity shield we are from this community we are we've been through all these problems just
like nikos was talking we've had our noses bloodied we've had our accounts drained some of us for
significant amounts of money but imagine when this starts applying to even like other important
aspects of of your life things that are super important that you cannot afford to lose that's
what we're trying to solve and and i think we're going we're making some some pretty significant inroads
into doing exactly that
i don't know yeah okay i mean i think dan just nailed it yeah i i don't know maybe we had a
communication drop i didn't hear anybody i heard what dan yeah and then it was just
yeah can you hear me now yeah i can hear you yeah all right uh the fact that uh serenity
is empowering users it's that's something that really amazes me a lot because i believe it's been
built for people because you guys have shared your experience on how you guys have been prone to
hackers scams and you know you guys have lost value due to the the lack of privacy lack of security on
the blockchain now the fact that as you should is building the reward use case applications are really
fascinating because you guys are doing something really great and this is something that is really
needed in the repeat space so yeah no no no now can you tell me more about you know uh the main problem
we've been having when it comes to security and privacy what are the main problems because i've spoken to
some people about you know digital rights security and privacy but they don't seem to understand what
i'm trying to see because they don't they are not seeing the problem because they have not lost any
valuable item or valuable assets assets or they have no they have not really uh been exposed to
the port whereby all that transaction are being tracked by people and then they are being uh published uh
to to the world to see so now can you tell us some of the main problems being faced uh in
web 2 when it comes to security privacy i think one of the main problems uh in terms of currently with
security risks and privacy risks in web 3 is that people don't have enough education to even understand
really what web 2 is that the difference as dan mentioned that we didn't see we didn't foresee the
convenience of being able to order things on amazon leading to what we've been talking about this whole
call which is just data tracking of where you go every second because you're using somebody else's
protocol the beauty of what web 3 brings forth is an equalizer right so if people are educated to know
enough that their assets could be tracked or they could be tracked by sharing the wrong information
with the wrong person or correct connecting their wallet to the wrong website it's really about empowering
users web 3 is all about empowering the user it comes from the idea of if you have self-autonomy and
self-sovereignty over the decisions that you make on chain and elsewhere in your life you're going to
excel in web 3 because web 3 is built to be essentially like a sandbox that allows people to interact with
their tools in any way that they want dan mentioned about the ability to um have your house well maybe not
even an intentional ability but if you have a mortgage the mortgage company or the bank is more than
likely going to tokenize the value of that asset somewhere down the line web 3 allows users to tokenize the
value of their own asset as long as they own it fully so if you don't have a mortgage and you have your
house paid off you could tokenize your mortgage you could sell your house to your neighbor the person down
the street somebody over telegram it doesn't even matter at that point as long as you know that you hold the
the keys to the security of your own asset you can trade that off to anybody that you want for
whatever value you deem acceptable that's what we're talking about here is that without worrying about
in a traditional retail uh uh what you call it um real estate case if i'm going to sell my house i have
to call a real estate agent who i don't know personally i have to trust them with a whole bunch
of information that maybe people in my family don't even know now i got to meet with that person and have
them invite strangers over to my house to walk through and get the floors all muddy you can see
where this is going and then at the end of it i have to pay them a commission and trust that they
actually did work that was in my best interest and maybe not for the clients that they were selling the
homes to or for their own bottom line in terms of they wanted a higher commission you can't trust that
anybody's out there to help you except for yourself so what i'm really getting at here in a long
roundabout way is the problem with web 3 could be all of the problems we see in web 2 if like dan said
we don't nip it in the bud right now and make sure we build a secure space that allows users to have
equitable access that's affordable access as well to powerful tools that will let them make decisions
for themselves for the benefit of their own life in the lives of their loved ones
justin i think just to come in on that as well and using it using an example that people could
perhaps relate to just to highlight the problems with with security and web 3 many of the listeners
just now will be familiar with the recent problems that slope wallet had and there was the impact on
thousands of wallets we found out later because of leaked data and that leaked data came
on the back of the fact that it was an insider sending data
and basically essentially being a bad actor now something as simple as a layer of privacy on top of that
would have prevented this or it could have prevented this we can't say with absolute certainty
but that's the kind of thing that we're working
looking toward and with web 3 where we're using these examples where we've seen these kind of
things happen and there are several of them that happen in the real world as well we saw something
recently with uber very similar where there was a hack and information was leaked and it was all through
one member of the employment team giving out pass keys and private keys accidentally to someone she
thought was part of the team and again it's that layer of privacy that would have actually solved that
problem and would have prevented the whole issue in the first place and it really comes back to why
it's an entity we've we very very strong advocates for privacy and and web 3 because it's the layer for
us that really does help and offers that extra cushion and that extra safety net of security so they think
they kind of go hand in hand and that really does enable us to create barriers and manage the kind of
um the boundaries to protect ourselves from these interferences that would otherwise
cause significant you know hardship and pain in our lives if we weren't we weren't more if we're not
more aware and and actually just having a base awareness of it and having a an outline understanding
of what we mean by security privacy is sometimes just enough you know you don't have to understand the
fundamental technology behind the product but knowing that the concept and the vision and the
mission behind brand and behind the team and the project whether it be serenity shield or someone else
that sometimes is enough and just to be sure that you are up to speed with what is actually happening
in the blockchain space you know because web 2 as justin pointed out before it did have a lot of flaws but
some of those flaws have continued over and it's very important to understand that web 3 in itself
is not a complete solution and web 3 in itself does not solve all those problems but that privacy will
certainly help us establish those boundaries i spoke about and it will regain the self-sovereignty that
we've lost previously and it's very important that people start to take that privacy and web 3 much more
seriously because all of that goes hand in hand for me yeah definitely because i believe the most
important aspects when it comes to privacy is education because i believe most people don't
really know what our privacy means in web 3 that's why they don't really value the privacy i was at a
conference uh two days ago i was discussing with someone why we need privacy in web 3 and it was like
no but we don't need privacy that uh blockchain is public by default that it's good that way that
there's no need for privacy then i asked him so how would you feel if someone have assets to your
bank details and then uh that's one of all your bank transaction history and also knows your bank
account balance how do you feel about that that was like that's not possible that it doesn't make
sense i was like same thing applies to the uh blockchain because of well transaction is public by
default all your assets all the assets you hold are public by default which means anyone that has
access to the internet explorer can certainly get access to all your interaction history your balance
your details your hefty everything you phone on the blockchain because it's probably by default
now i i told him about the case of uh the uh killer nfc was mentioned on uh secret network
i told him about uh users having access to watch a full-length movie by having that pirates metadata nfc
but when it comes to the public blockchain this can't be achieved because now we're talking about
exclusively exclusively as we are talking about giving out exclusive items to people to some certain
people but the public blockchain can't offer this because it's probably by default whereby you can't
really make this exclusive because everyone can easily have access to it because it's public on a
blockchain so i made him understand why this privacy is really important after a long conversation with him
then he realized that yeah we truly need this privacy they in that values privacy you know that yeah
that privacy is just to say that he didn't know about all these things because he never uh show
concerns because he never thought these are very important factors when it comes to reptical adoption
i think uh we need to work more on the educational aspects when it comes to privacy and security in
in rept most people are not really paying attention to this until they are full victims of some of these
scams uh wallets acts and so on and so forth so now you know let's you know talk i want to know much more
about cement issue so now how can we defense it differentiates community shield from other traditional
competitors so what are the unique factors what are the unique features of community should work by the
traditional competitors so serenity shield wants to lead with empathy and education everything that we
do we come at this from remembering where we were when we first entered the space right whenever you're
starting a company or a product the best place to ask is a new user hey what are your pitfalls what's
the problem here what are you afraid about what do you not understand because that's what's going to
allow you to actually create uh the most robust product in real time and you're actually listening
to the people that you're purporting to help so the way that serenity shield looks at it is we're
here to participate in the space through and through and help really uplift the reputation of what
blockchain and cryptocurrency is without just trying to make a quick buck because if we really wanted to
make a quick buck the team could probably do something else because this is a really difficult
a trying to have interoperability across every layer one blockchain is going to take a ton of time
educating people that we're trustworthy actors in the space that you can come use our product and
submit your sensitive data and have it not accessible by serenity shield i mean that's going to be a leap
that we're going to have to get over but that's the way our product is designed is to allow that nobody has
access to data but you but again not an easy thing to overcome so what we're really here to do is
basically educate but also continue to learn we have these amas because we're learning from you as
you learn from us we're here to pitch our products ultimately and say how we think that it will affect the
space in a positive way but we're open to all the feedback that is here from you from your community
from even the anecdote you just shared about privacy at the convention all of these things allow us to
educate each other in terms of building a better web three i don't see that in our competition i see
us doing the outreach and putting the legwork and creating those inroads within the communities that
we know are going to be the ones that'll be around here for a long time i just i don't see it in our
competition at the same time as i mentioned earlier we wake up every day excited to take on the new
challenges and face them head on and come up with solutions to hard puzzles and hard problems we
really actually don't even have that much time if any at all to be sitting around and uh investigating
competitors in the market space and trying to figure out how you know how do we undercut their price and
you get their clients and all that stuff i mean that comes from the traditional business world
that's what we're all sick of and we're here to make a difference and we're here to participate
in something different
the fact that you guys are really building the world use case application makes it very easy to
push out to the world because i believe we don't really need to do much when it comes to the
marketing because as long as the education is there a lot of people want to see when it's issued
because you guys are empowering people which are directly does not empower because i told someone
to me i believe web 3 only give off give gives us access but it doesn't give us ownership and control
which is something we lack on the web tree ownership and control is something we really like
it's because people don't even understand this concept that's why they don't know that the
web tree is not about empowerment it's about you know just giving us says so now i i love it so
people get to understand that it's more about you know having control and ownership of your of these
data because if you totally have control over your data you should be able to decide which is your
data and who does things but when it comes to the web tree you can't decide that because you're not
giving a choice so i love the fact that she really should is giving people a choice you are giving people a
choice to either to either decide to share or to not share or to make it you know become much more
private so now let's go to the next question so why did you guys choose to build on secrets and also uh
what uh and also uh how has our experience been like building on secrets and being you know first uh
being the first uh protocol to build something like this which is really fascinating
um so from there i i'd actually want to say it's been great your developers have been nothing but
helpful um we started communicating with you guys on the back end i think all the way back to
early february um there's been an open telegram group that is bustling back and forth between our two
dev groups every single day anytime we've had an issue or there's been network updates from secret they
we've been informed about what's coming we've been able to implement uh the changes because
actually just as a side note i'm not sure who here knows this but we have an active uh dap right
now there's a there's a closed beta version of the strongbox mvp that was circulated through
secret network and we ended up having a hundred beta testers come on in september to help us out um
you know identifying some bugs so again another thing where the community is just willing to help and
support good actors in the space and it's been such a humbling experience to get the feedback to be
welcomed into a community that puts privacy and security above everything and to be
vouched for in the way that we're saying hey not only do we are we happy you're building on our
platform we'll give you access to our developers for any questions that you have for developing that
program on the platform then we're going to give you access to secret agents who are just eager ready
and willing to test your uh solution on the that's built on our platform and give you critical
feedback so you can make a better product and i love that it's all coming from an angle of collaboration
because really the way that our product works is every single user of strongbox creates a smart
contract on secret network our goal is a minimum of one million users we would love to bring one
million smart contracts live on secret network so you see how beneficial this partnership is in that
way like the stronger our product the easier it will be for us to get adoption and then the more we can
actually shine a great light on secret what's what it's all about and then gain more users for your
ecosystem so that's been one really awesome thing the second really awesome thing is in the terms of
expandability so we are planning or have plans and are actively in development for interoperability
between all layer one blockchains and it's going to take a while but you know it's something that
we're we're always pushing for and all that means is that we get to expand our reach to other layer ones
while bringing those users back to secret secret through the smart contracts that are created in our
app so in a way the bigger serenity shield gets the better it is for secret and it's just such a good
feeling like i you can't see me right now but i'm talking with my hands and i'm ready to basically
like get up and jump around i'm so pumped up about the idea that we're even able to have this
conversation about this about it serenity shield went from an idea to an actual working product with the
help of secret network it's been phenomenal so i want to say thank you for one a uh and then b it's
just i'm so grateful we're all humbled and every day we're working toward making sure that we represent
your community in the best way possible and that's how our partnership goes hand in hand
well um so i'm so honored to have you guys on this piece as well because um a big advocate is when
it comes to privacy right from before i ever came into the blockchain i've always loved privacy
i love the fact that i can have control over who knows me who knows me i have control of my identity
to the public when it comes to social media uh the issue of the social media is because i don't have
control about some of the social media i'm using so that's why i respect myself for me some of these
social medias because i feel when it comes to privacy social media does not follow this privacy
right because all our data has been controlled by a centralized organization which is something
i don't really like i don't like you know having to rely on a centralized organization to control
my life to determine what i want to do next so this is something that really bothers me a lot
when it comes to you know uh with two applications and this is why i just remain anonymous uh i told
people my listen i don't give people my opinion because i believe uh the word is uh control
so so a lot of things which can really uh be attached to people's life so now uh you made mention of
strongbox i believe not everyone here understand the concept of strongbox so can you please tell us more
about uh strongbox sure so the strongbox is essentially like the live version of you using a smart contract
interacting with secret to hold end-to-end encryption of the data that you've submitted that you want
to protect and that is the 10 000 foot view the way that our dap works is you can connect using any
wallet of your choosing right now well that will be when we're fully interoperable right now you can
use phantom you can use metamask and you connect to our dap you fill out a user profile like you would
on a web 2 it looks like a web 2 um interface it's super sleek and easy to use but it's
all 100 decentralized everything that you do and interacting with the dap is end-to-end encrypted
between you and secret and nobody at serenity shield has any access to your data or your account or
anything at all it's like literally a way for you to almost basically communicate with blockchain
directly um so when you do enter your dashboard you're able to create what's called a strongbox
and the strongbox is in a way like a digital safe or a vault that's hosted on the blockchain
and in there you can put you can submit uh you can submit something as simple as a seed phrase for a
wallet that you don't want to lose access to or you know uh i don't know anybody here that plays genesis but
like a toe jam and earl return to the spot secret code that you get you know what i mean things like
that or or um you know as dan was saying in the real estate way access to the deed to your home
literally whatever you want to put in there it's an open sandbox it doesn't matter and we never have
access to it when you create your strongbox you make an agreement with the smart contract on secret
network that you have submitted data that's for your eyes only and you're given an nft that serves as a
key to unlock the access to that data in the future should you want to amend it or you know maybe even
delete the strongbox take out the information get rid of it uh maybe add to it or create more strong
boxes you can even leave access to a strongbox to a nominee in the event of your death which is another
thing we go back to privacy security digital rights for everyone choice you have the freedom of
choice to actually have agency over your end of life planning in my example i'm going to leave uh
my assets to my wife so i'm going to nominate my wife as as the person that can grant access to my
assets in the event that i die uh without you know unexpectedly it i'm creating or having the ability
to create a will on blockchain without having to call up an attorney that i don't trust to pay a bunch of
money that i don't want to pay to secure access to assets that are mine that is mental the idea that
you even have to legally in the traditional world actually seek out a complete stranger to have agency
over what happens to your assets with your family members and friends when you're dead it's it blows my
mind and the fact that companies building the correct kinds of products on web3 will give users
of blockchain the option to choose not to participate in the traditional means of things such as end of
life planning is a true honor and that's like why we're here to do this so in essence the strongbox is
a contract or if you you have a smart contract and you're basically working directly with blockchain to
secure access to assets that you own to do with them whatever you want i think there's another way
to look at this as well and and justin you you're absolutely correct but one thing that that we haven't
really hammered home enough i think is the fact that when we make this decision what we're in fact doing
is we are giving the gift of privacy to the people that we elect to receive this information whether
that information has any monetary value financial value or not what we're doing is we're creating an
environment whereby we are allowing the people to whom we are leaving this information like i said whether
it's assets or otherwise and we give them the the the ability to make the decision as to whether they want
to be anonymous or not and in an age where everybody is is compromised that that i i don't even know if you can put a
put a price tag on that it is so important like when i go to pass this stuff on to my kids my wife um
um whomever um whomever i choose to to pass it on to they don't have to dox themselves to receive that
if they don't choose to and i just there's something just in my opinion i think there's something that that
that is beautiful in that that you don't have to make them make that decision they can make that decision
for themselves to be honest i must say i'm very blown away by what you guys are building to be honest
then uh in the fact that uh you are giving this ownership this choice and also you are literally
middlemen from this so any elements and then giving this uh trust into the blockchain the technology
this is something that really amused me because there's no way the technology could cheat you or probably
uh uh or go go yeah go around the way and then just come see behind your back because at the end of the day
let's say as in anniversary but uh you someone died and then you have to wait on the lawyers
to come and read the views and then uh start giving out with your family and loved ones lawyers
having knowledge of what you own and everything you know you're still remain private and make sure no one
knows your world except from your next of kin the person you want to show give out those properties
and those assets which is really fascinating fascinating because you are still keeping this
within your psyche you are still in control man i'm really blown away by what you guys are building
um uh the fact that you can almost see some of your important uh details uh assets uh six phase and so
on on your strong boards is really amazing because i'm this kind of person that they only know how to
keep um fiscal assets when it comes to leisure and yes i think the leisure in in my country is kind
of hard you have to know order from overseas to deliver to your country which takes a very long uh
working list to be delivered so man what you guys are building is really really amazing i'm blown away
it has a lot of reward use cases that i'm so happy you guys are really being on secret and yeah you're
you're going to stop a lot of problem in the workplace which is something you know i believe everyone
would love to know about i can't even wait for you guys to know uh for you guys to come live for
maintenance uh everyone should watch and then understand the concept of what you guys are doing
i will keep making sure i will have this problem the needs for privacy the need by you
and to believe in the technology because this is the future so yeah you know now i i your latest
announcement you guys uh talked about your pre-sale can you talk more about the pre-sale so now what
is uh how is the use cases of the token for the ecosystem so uh because i believe a lot of people
love to know more about the use cases of the token yet yeah of course so the search token is um basically
the the key at the center of our ecosystem it's going to be everything everything that we build is going
to implement the search token our first product being the strong box we'll use the search token as
a way to pay for um annual licensing fees to use the technology as a retailer i mean sorry as a retail
user so we'll have commercial uh business level ones too that will be you know a little bit handled
differently but the search token will be used to pay for your annual subscription the search token will
also be used to um unlock your strong box in a recovery event and that can be if you're using
the box as say like a ledger on ledger and you want to go and save 15 you know different kinds of
access to wallets and then you want to go open them up you know once a week every day whatever you want
to do there'll be a fee in search that you need to pay to do that and you don't have to do that either
you can set up a strong box and have it you know be 18 years without touching it it's just your backup
it's to an air in case you die that sort of thing we're also going to have staking for the search
token um for right now so those are the two real or actually three big utilities we're going to have
staking coming out alongside the the pre-sale we're going to have the ability to pay for the
subscription fees in the strong box using the search token and then we're going to have the
requirement that the search token is used as the currency to unlock your strong box in the event
that you want to recover the contents or make edits or changes to what's in there um so yeah
that's it's it's really important for us to have a token because down the line it's it's going to be
a thing that will allow us also to introduce governance in the form of a dow so it's we figure
why not build everything at the same time it's much easier to have a token to start and then work it
into our products and ecosystem then try to release one later to give it a purpose that it never really
had it just feels it doesn't feel right yeah that was really awesome so guys uh make sure you check the
announcement check out the procedure to participate in the pre-sale make sure you guys know uh no make
sure you buy more of it because this is really awesome i can't wait for you know the the next
milestone to come so you know talking about this one so what are the major milestones that you've still
from can you tell us about it and uh tell us the upcoming plans as well
i think i think we can look back on the call this evening and really just looking across what
we've achieved in the last six months particularly as being a big part of the milestones we've hit i
think the biggest one we have to acknowledge is the release of the mvp dap of our strongbox
and having that mvp in place before we even proceed with the token pre-sale and the eventual launch
of our token 2023 for us it was very important that everything we had on the roadmap actually
built up to that point we were working towards a viable working solution that our end users could
relate to before they take the plunge with the project you know what it's like i'm sure everyone's
invested in many other projects before and you are sort of asked to come to the space and put your faith
in a team and hand over your hardened investment to get some tokens in return and on the back of that
there's a promise of what those tokens can do will do should do and then you're waiting for months and
months and months for something to come out something to develop when use when this when that and it
doesn't really happen so for us having been been through that before it ties back with why we started
surrender shield in the first place you have to remember that we have seen the dark side of
blockchain as well we we know that blockchain has a long way to go we are not working within a mature
market as it is right now our position in this market and within this sector is to change that
and that is why the mvp of the strongbox was the biggest target and the biggest goal which came in august
but now moving away from that and moving on it's very important that we take the feedback that we've
had on the back of the first round of the mvp and it was just in and dan touched upon earlier that was
a closed round of testers courtesy of the secret agents program and also a couple of kind of trusted
members of our network that came across and tested the mvp and we've obviously had a lot of very positive
feedback but with that there's a lot of technical glitches things we have to earn out so naturally one of the
next things that you will see is a more advanced version of the mvp certainly will not be the full
working solution uh by by the new year but that will allow other members of the community because
as we grow we're seeing new faces we're seeing people coming into the project that have just
discovered it for the first time so they'll get their opportunity to help us out and and give us
feedback there and then alongside that as justin touched upon we've got the
look the pre-sale coming up and and actually about two weeks time and the pre-sale of that token i
guess is going to be you can look at that as an early bird because we know we're a very very small
community at the moment with big ambitions and big goals in our mind and obviously the people that give
us their kind of solidarity and support now uh part of uh in joining that piece in that is them giving
their endorsement and their vote of confidence in our product and as such they're really finding that
we'll be getting into the token a good stage as we embark on a very very long journey so the pre-sale
is something i think everyone should look out for in the kind of short term and on the back of that
there'll be some announcements that will complement it regarding our staking program
before we move to 2023 we've got a lot of technical goals that we want to work towards
ccip or cross-chain interoperability for anyone that's not aware that's something we're working
on actively and there is also some biometric elements that we would like to add to the product
we won't we won't go into that too much today but we will always be seeking to advance the product to
develop the strongbox and improve it because we have to be dynamic within this space we can't
come to the blockchain space and be static and once we deliver the strongbox then you know we've
completed it we all want to see technological advancement for the right reasons and part of
that will require our team to always be looking forward and developing new things so one of the
things we've got our eye on even right now is once we get to that working solution is to then
implement a layer of biometrics on top and we've got a lot of a lot of hope that we'll see that sooner
rather than later and i think it's something certainly to be very very excited about i know
justin you talk about your fingerprints being your private key you may want to elaborate a little bit
on how we see that in the space of course the potential i guess that web 3 gives us to do these
things that we could never have imagined in web 2 so that's it that's some of what we have on the
roadmap and some of the milestones that we've achieved so far
that's really a great milestone and you know what you guys are building is something that's really
amazing i must say again i'm really blown over what you guys are doing and also just saying you know
the stupid traffic are fully supporting whatever it is you are doing your plans you would have fully
support you and we know you get against our team much greater than that and we truly believe in your
team we believe in what you guys are doing so uh before we move on uh our customer usually give
out uh secret badges to everyone that are in our space so i've shared the link to the stupid
badges uh in the chat so just check it and then the claim code is there for everyone in the space so this
is secret so uh you can go and start a mint and a secret badge and this is just to show a position
for coming to today's space and to walk for me to secret africa so now uh the next question uh for us
to round off now what are your targets of friends what are your target audience and how do you plan
to involve them in your community eventually if you guys will have a doubt in the future
well i'm sure the guys will have an answer to this as well but for me i think we have to realize that
what we're trying to achieve is to create that urgency in the space where people take the proper
measures to plan ahead and protect their digital assets and the way they can do that is through
our strongboxd app and with that kind of goal that sits at the center of everything we do and the
privacy and security message that we've spoken about as well that it's got to be so much more than
than just the c phrase protection and everything we've talked about for me is anyone with that
desire or need to secure their personal data and create that sense of safety feeling more secured
empowered and having the tools at their disposal to make their experience of blockchain and web three
a better one and that is a big big audience but we understand there's a long way to go in terms of
education and as i said in the in the previous question we know that we're not in a mature
market that's the beauty of what we're doing blockchain is in its infancy we have got a great
team we've got a great community of people growing as well and fundamentally anyone that joins that
movement would fit into our target audience because it's collectively with those people that we believe
we can enhance the digital rights of of all of those types of users globally and raising awareness that
what we are experiencing with regards to our privacy and our data being exposed it's really important it
really truly is that people start to take notes and really raise their heads and and find out for
themselves exactly how our data has been used to manipulate us into certain purchases to do things
and also to utilize our data for for the wrong reasons and that that's that is something that
i'm personally very passionate about and our team are very passionate about and anyone that needs the
support or guidance we would love to embrace those people and bring them closer to a project to ensure
that we're giving them everything they need to plan ahead and protect their digital assets i'm sure dan
or justin probably have a slightly different answer but that's certainly how i see your entire audience
in this space
well i can jump in on that um i i'm
i look at myself as as our target audience to be honest um because what you're going to see over the
next two to three years maybe five years depending on how this uh the current uh bear market
lasts um i see that you're going to we're going to witness a whole lot more adoption generally uh
into the cryptocurrency and blockchain space and i think because of that it's it's so important
that we recognize that there are going to be a lot of people who are going to be pushed into this
space whether they want to go or not and for that let me just spell it out there are a lot of people in
the financial world specifically people who are um they're approaching their retirement they're
middle-aged just like myself and the the traditional finance world is going to force them to start
dealing with blockchain technology um just as a matter of course because that's the natural progression of
the market and so i think it's important that we plant our flag now and i guess you know look i don't
want to to extend this metaphor too far but i think it's important that we understand that we are on
the metaphorical ramparts of the battle of of privacy and if we don't recognize that i think we're we're
missing a a big opportunity and the other problem is that people my generation my age cohort are only
now waking up to that realization i think a lot of people who are younger than us uh they are they are
more aware of this they deal with this on an everyday basis and and so they're they're much more um
they're they're digital natives right that's not universally true and we're going to be dealing
with a lot of people who are going to be flushed into this space and it's important that we have a
a soft place for them to land and and i i think that that's going to benefit everybody so that's kind of my
my perspective on it
well i believe too much yeah oh i'm sorry i was just going to say i have nothing to add here they
they killed it it's the idea that we invite all of the best people and all the best ideas to come
share with us so we can grow together i believe africa is also a very big target audience because
africa always have this issue of privacy security and physical rights you know i've read several
articles concerning africa you know we have in our details and assets being public to the government
everything being controlled by the government being controlled by centralized organization
and we have a lot of times in africa that will look to you know benefit this privacy and security
but due to the nature of africa this privacy has been something that has been affecting africa and
right from our states and uh some in africa has been you know fighting for this uh privacy and security
it was not a recent uh uh that's you know yeah yeah brought an idea in order to make sure google
have actually some access to what they are having that they have some access to their community to
their citizens in south africa because they believe that our citizens should have our privacy but you
know not all countries in africa has been adopting this privacy and security which is something really
important so i believe africa as a whole is a very big target audience and we are at central africa
we'll do our best to make sure we're careful about this privacy and also push more adoption for
security in africa as well because you guys are doing something really great and your applications
is a big reward application which we really need the whole the young complaints firm starts up everyone
needs privacy everyone needs security so we believe together we can push more adoption and educate people
about the needs for privacy in the blockchain so yeah thank you very much guys for coming on board thank
you very much for educating us thank you for how you've said so funny space i do enjoy this space a lot
because you guys have spoken so much about security privacy and service and today though a solution is
being provided to these problems we are facing in the way and i'm super glad you guys are still
constantly working toward improving the security and privacy and entire rights solution so this is
really amazing thank you very much guys so is there another conclusion anything you'd love to say before
we close this space no i would just like to thank you for your time tonight for inviting us on i think
the last point that you made uh particularly relating to africa because let's be honest the conversation
we're having is a secret africa audience and for our team it's very important that we're engaging
with people from all over the globe tonight we actually at the same time we had an ama running
with a spanish community we have spanish-speaking members of our team that were able to also raise
awareness there and and branch out and spread the message but when you talk about what you what you
said there about africa and the fact that it's been exploited in terms of privacy and digital rights it's
it's a common theme globally but one thing i think you guys have got to your advantage
africa's africa's an emerging state that's an emerging continent with a lot of potential and
that just so happens to be a time where blockchain is also an emerging technology and it's an emerging sort
of um solution to a lot of the problems that have plagued us in previous times gone by and we can all
relate to the various stories globally but particularly in africa that have plagued the continent and this is a
this is a time that we can do something to change it as a as a as a whole not just serenity shield
there's so many other great projects particularly on the secret network uh kind of group of projects
you've got you guys at shade protocol there polymer you've got jackal there's there's so many sienna
network and i think what we're trying to achieve together is a paradigm shift where we actually work
together to change that all of that sort of power that has been taken away from the individual user
their self-sovereignty that's been sort of exploited and taken away from them and we have been given a
chance with the technology that we've got to do something about it and it seems like a big big thing
and it seems like something that might be impossible but if we don't try we will forever be
under the umbrella of entrapment and being at the mercy of governments and power that sort of has held
us down for so long and for us we want to we want to work within that system and we want to make it a
better place and give the the power back to the people and i always talk about this as a digital rights
revolution so with you hosting here for secret africa i think it's a very important community
i think it's one that can benefit the most from the emergence of blockchain as africa emerges itself
as a sort of thriving economy in the future which is what i hope to see and let's let's stick together
and make sure that we we keep this dialogue open and we continue the conversation because someone said
to me earlier tonight on another call we just have to keep talking and that's one of the most important
things that we can do to raise awareness that we just keep talking so i want to thank you for giving
us the platform to share our message to improve our exposure for our vision and to hopefully have given
some people something to think about and provide some food for thought with regards to their security
their privacy and fundamentally their digital rights
yeah thank you very much for coming to this and together we work so you know pushing the options
for privacy and also making sure where these people are about the need and together we believe
we are going to have to return my stores and this is just the beginning we will never stop talking
we'll keep talking and that's why we at africa we we go to events we go to workshops we go to meet up
we keep preaching privacy to people we we talk to people educate them and tell them this is the
future this technology is there to all cost all and africa will lead this technology and this technology
also leads africa because when it comes to uh adoption african has been ranked the top countries
in african has been ranked among the greatest uh is adoption uh is adopting the technology all over the
world which is something great and what we are adopting technology we need to adopt the fact that
privacy is needed for us to have the full ownership and full control of this technology which is something
we keep pushing out until we make sure we push it out to the uh to the grassroots and to everyone in
africa to make sure they adopt and they they are fully aware that this privacy is human rights which is
in which the centers i love a lot privacy is human rights and we need it so yeah thank you very much
guys thanks to everyone that attended tonight's space and please don't forget to you know means uh
