and what's holding us back from getting there? And this was back in 2011. And it all came down
to our financial markets. There are a whole bunch of externalities that aren't accounted for. I was
actually studying economics at the time. And I thought, this is a really interesting problem.
It's complex. I have no idea where to begin, but I'm just going to start thinking about this
and reaching out to economic professors, eventually coming up with a structure for
a new kind of financial primitive. I knew I couldn't build this on Wall Street,
so I actually started looking for digital currencies back in 2011.
I came across Bitcoin. Bitcoin couldn't solve the problem because it at the time was just
like a token and I couldn't build on it. But I thought, you know what, I'm going to invest in
Bitcoin because this is the direction that I want to see the world, that I need the world to build the things that I'm working on.
And that became the best investment that I made to date.
And now the world's ready for me to build what I'm hoping to build over here,
which is I narrowed down the scope of the problem,
which is right now we have capital markets do not account for air quality particularly
well at all. If they did, we wouldn't be dealing with 7 million people losing their lives from
air pollution. And so we're building a new financial primitive that enables traders to
speculate on air quality and every trade helps fund improvements to the air that we breathe.
And that led me here into this community with Jimmy.
And I'm really excited to be here and meet more of the folks here and what they're up to and see how we can help each other.

I'm really glad that we got connected.
There are a couple people
who just said, hey, you got to connect with Jimmy in these spaces. And that's just led to
beautiful things. And PBX is like definitely one of those. And I think this is a really cool
innovation. I mean, like, the prediction markets have definitely taken like the world by storm.
It's not just crypto. it's this mainstream i think like
since the since the last u.s elections when this became like the main determinant of like how is
it gonna go and everyone now looks at that for like the source of truth that uh that everyone's
looking at this but it's you know it's been mostly degen trading or like inside trading a lot but uh
but but this is like the use case that can actually make the world a better place.
So how do these mechanics work? I'm sure people would love to get into the nitty gritty of
how this works. So my understanding is that there is a PBX token, which is kind of the token for
everything, which is benefited from all of the individual tokens of each city. So they're going
to be city tokens. And then that price of the city token So they're going to be city tokens and then that price
of the city token is actually influenced by the real world data of the cities, right?
But also speculation. So it's real world data plus speculation. How do those two things
come together to ultimately determine the value of a city's token?
Yeah. So we see this primitive as being like there's real world assets. And we look at
what we're actually making as a new primitive called real world volatility. And I think you
gave a good high level. The regional tokens, let's just say New York City, Toronto, and Dubai,
Toronto, and Dubai. The price of each region, so what happens is our decentralized protocol is
bringing air quality data on-chain. We use various third-party suppliers that have their data used by
federal agents or federal agencies. We bring this data on-chain. That's step one. Step two is their individual
region, regional tokens. And we have this rebalance engine. And so the rebalance engine
is looking at these ratios between price and air quality for each of these regions.
And so let's say there's a massive car crash during rush hour in Dubai.
And a whole bunch of cars are blocked up.
There are a whole bunch of extra emissions going off.
So the air quality is going to worsen.
That's going to be picked up.
It's going to be brought on chain.
A rebalance engine is going to say, oh, look at this.
Dubai is overvalued right now because air quality is bad and the price hasn't adjusted yet.
So it's going to sell off some of Dubai and it's going to say, hey, Toronto and New York
are undervalued, so it's going to buy those up.
And that's what connects the prices of the regions.
And why this is interesting is speculators can come in and say, hey, I want to try to
see if I can beat the rebalance engine.
I want to try to pick up on air quality data faster.
I want to see if I can forecast it further in the future.
And so that's where traders come in.
And the question of what is the fundamental utility?
What is the fundamental value of this?
Well, it's designed to address for two audiences.
One is the speculators, and I think I kind of commented on that already.
But the other people are people who are coming in here because they want to make money,
and they also want air quality improved.
And they are betting that putting money into PBX is the best thing that they can do with
their capital to improve air quality.
As it pushes up the prices of all regions,
which means there's more transaction volume
that leads to more fees going into the air fund,
which funds improvements to air.
And that's the mechanism.
So you're either participating in here
if you want to speculate
and you think you can bet on changes in air quality well.
Turns out a lot of people did in our beta.
We had about 1,000 people come in and they had a lot of fun.
They're ready for our launch on April 13th.
Or you're playing a structural bet.
And our first investor outside of myself,
our first investor, he got into Bitcoin in 2011
because he was making a structural bet.
He got into Ethereum in 2014.
He's almost a billionaire,
and he thinks that getting into PBX early
and betting long is going to make him a billionaire
because he believes that PBX has structural utility
just like these other key projects that he bet on.
So my thought is this could be incredibly valuable and it's really
a function of can we deploy it well? Can we market it well? And do people find air quality and a
mechanism to improve air quality valuable? And I think they will.
Absolutely. A mind-blowing stat for me is that 8.1 million people die every single year because of the air that they're breathing. And like when I found that, I was in shock. I was frankly kind of pissed off. Like how could we let that happen? That's like almost Holocaust level shit every single year because of air, dude? Like what? Like how do we even get here you know and so when I think about these like these scalable solutions
that can actually put a dent in that like that is uh that is seriously um something that I want
to get behind and support and so that's why when uh when this opportunity came through to support
this I was like all about it and uh I'm looking forward to seeing how we can grow this in the
future so so let's talk about like the solutions, the impact of this. Because it's from the fees,
right? As these various Citi tokens are being traded, or maybe also the PBX token, there's a
portion of those fees which are going towards actually making the air quality better. So how
do we actually improve air quality? What are the solutions to make this better, you know, once you do build up that war chest to make the world a better place?
Yeah, I think, so there are plenty of different areas of investment.
Like on one front, it's funding more sensors.
The other front, it's like getting people healthier, like preventing people from dying from bad air right now.
So it's better filtration systems available to groups that
won't, wouldn't necessarily have access to that. It's green infrastructure, it's funding
tree planting initiatives, it's doing more climate research and more awareness. And
the truth is, like, what I think at the start, we are going to be deploying capital to, like,
groups or initiatives that fall into two
categories or the overlap of two categories.
Gathering number one is they're doing meaningful things to improve air quality or mitigate
for the impact of it.
And number two is they have a lot of social reach.
And I would say it would be important for us to build partnerships with people who can who are driving
an impact but can also help grow pbx and i think that becomes a really neat win-win and like fueling
this flywheel that these effectively the money that we put out there to improve air quality is
actually helping uh create more promotion and awareness of PBX.

Okay. And then so let's talk about like the actual PBX token.
So you got the Citi tokens and then you've got the main PBX token.

My understanding is that the city level tokens are supporting that in some way. What's the connection between the city tokens and the flagship one? Yeah, so right now we have these things called trading agents,
which deploy different strategies on the PBX market.
The rebalance engine, which connects the price of a region with the air quality,
that's one trading agent.
Another trading agent is one that buys evenly across all regions.
So the way this works is I would put money into a trading agent.
And let's say this was the PBX token trading agent.
And it will then go and deploy the capital across all regions.
And I would own a portion of the trading agent, which mechanically is a vault.
And so when I want to go withdraw it, I can
withdraw it and it will sell off some of all of the regions.
Now the benefit of getting this region or getting this
PBX token is that when we launch new regions
in the future, you will automatically own those.
The trading agent will rebalance the portfolio so that it owns all regions.
And so it's one way to come in and buy across the whole market.
And that's the perk of it.
And so our vision... Wow, it seems like that. market. And that's the perk of it.
And so our vision...
Our vision is to
cover... We're starting
with three regions,
but the vision is to cover every single
square mile of the world.
And that
buying into the PBX token means
you don't have to worry about
which region you pick or how you split up your money.
It does that for you.
It buys every single one.

So you don't necessarily have to be looking into all the details that would allow you to trade a specific cities token, but you can buy, like, the whole set.
Or if you got that, I feel like I've
got some alpha, you know, like with this billion trees initiative that we're setting out to do.

the 12 where we're going to be doing a countrywide tree planting day, you know, that is definitely
going to influence the air quality in those areas, you know? And so if you know that beforehand,
you know, you've got a bit of alpha. And so that's really cool how people who are like
taking massive climate action can also have some of this information that can ultimately help you
trade these air quality markets. So that's pretty bullish as well. So much love for that.
Seems like there's a lot of moving parts to this. Like it's pretty complex to build this out, you know, as a fellow builder.
Like it's like you got the trading agents, you got the individual tokens, you've got
the data sets coming in.
Like what was it like to build this?
I want to know like how you set out to even bring the team together to get the right builders
to make sure that you've done this, you know, to a T, because I know how much is going into behind this to some extent,
and it's a lot. So how did you pull this off? And like, what is that process like,
maybe for the other builders listening, you know, to make something, you know, to this scale happen?
I think one of my strengths is I'm very persistent.
And I've been tinkering on and off with this problem for a long time.
One thing that I found,
I knew that I needed to have a source of income myself.
I'd worked on a startup previously,
and it was really stressful not running out of runway.
And so currently, I actually work full-time at a 600-person AI or tech company, and I
build AI infrastructure.
I really like complex problems, which probably makes me a good builder for this particular
builder for this particular problem.
problem.
And you've used that to self-fund the startup
about $150,000. I work full-time
building highly complex software, and then I'm managing a whole team
outside of my full-time job. Two engineers, one growth person,
one social media. We have
an advisor who worked at Bridgewater. We have this early
investor from the early days, OG Ethereum and Bitcoiner. We have a marketing team that we've
grown. So a lot of what I've had to do is prove things early on. We actually built a beta on Web2
where we had a thousand people come in, trade 150,000 times.
It's a lot easier to build
prototypes in web 2 than it is to
web 3. This contract
over here was,
or the smart contracts are over 12,000
lines of code. That's not
including tests.
It's not a complex thing.
Just kind of taking it one step
at a time helped just one step at a time,
help just one day at a time, keep going,
figuring out where we run into a wall,
figuring out a way around.
And I shout out to all the builders who push through,
who find a way to make things work,
even when in the face of getting 20, 30, 40, 50 no's from people.
That, yeah, that's a shout out to everybody who continues to push through.

Yo, respect for putting your money away your mouth is, you know, like not just taking external
capital, but putting your own funds in there.
I know the grind of
working, you know, multiple different things at once to make it happen and to just put everything
you got into what you believe in. So respect for that, man. And it's cool that you found,
you know, those aligned investors as well, the OGs, like you said. You know, for those who are
looking to maybe raise funds for a startup, like what is that process like? Like,
how do you find aligned investors, first of all, and then, you know, ultimately reach a point where
they're, where they're backing you like you're backing yourself? Yeah. I mean, our first, I says,
I was our first investor, but putting in the, the amount that I have, and it's kind of just
been building up over the years, um, to get, to close the investor that we closed, it actually came through personal through like a friend who I connected with this person in a social setting.
I then learned about their background, talked with him about the business.
There was like three conversations and I thought they were in, but then they brought on like an advisor to the call
and the call went so badly. We just got ripped apart. I felt so bad. I kind of got depressed
later. I had a co-founder at the time. They quit a week after that call. It was really freaking hard.
But I continued to push the project forward and two years later having another conversation with
this this investor they were interested we had three more conversations every single conversation
that we had I took quotes from I understood what their concerns were I knew what we were going to
go over in the next conversation I made a personalized deck exactly to address their concerns of the things that they wanted to talk about.
It was a lot of time, a lot of touch points, and it actually got this person to come in and invest money now,
but also put $2.2 million of buy pressure onto the charts that they'll invest as we hit certain market cap
milestones. So it was a lot of persistence and a lot of personalization into hearing what their
concerns were. Yeah, that's my current take. Your respect, man. That's what I'm talking about.
The tenacity, right?
Like your co-founder threw in the towel.
You got absolutely grilled to oblivion from a previous investor that didn't work out.
But you kept pushing.
You took that information.
You learned from it.
You addressed it.
And you kept on pushing.
And now look at you, man.
Two million in commitments.
Is that alpha?
Yo, I think you just shared some alpha. Like buy pressure of two milski is no small drop in the
bucket. That is a serious splash right there. So yo, respect, man. I'm pretty bullish on this.
This is exciting. So what is this looking like? I know it might not be 100% set in stone,
but for people who are really pumped for the launch of this, when can people participate?
And is it going to be like a presale or how can people get active in this ecosystem?

I've been following on PBX since the last space I joined, rather,
and I've got to say what they're building, it's quite mind-blowing. As a health expert
like myself, and having go through certain challenges late last year to early January this year
with a personal patient of mine, I will say that this is no project or rather it's not even a
project. It's an initiative that should be taken lightly, yeah, per investment investment uh just looking to even make inquiry on what they have going so
my first question or rather it's more of it i need a guidance can i get probably if it's possible
maybe you can give referral to how i can get access to reading more of the project on what you're building and what it's all about.
Because I would really, really like to see what this in particular on a grand scale, what it's mainly all about.
Then as of now, I think if I heard you clearly you said you'd be launching april my
major question is is there anything in particular as of now that would or you would rather consider
a drawback probably in the aspect of having to launch the project or maybe even after
that has been launched already or it has been launched already there are still
certain issues technical issues glitch or anything anything you would consider a
drawback currently that you've you're yet to I say, fully work your way around.
Then the third one is I'm also a builder myself.
I started a recruitment platform for youths,
African youths to be precise, where we get employment
and all of that for them.
So is there any kind of support you know you might need?
Because for a project to come up and say, we're looking to give people a chance or a shot at clean air in 2026,
considering the carbon content, and that was one of the major reason why i locked in on three
gens and plastic it was the carbon content and trust me what carbon alone is doing to the air to
the to the people breathing it's nothing to write home about yeah and so is there anything you know you might need outside of finance or investment that would help get the word out that this is what PBX is doing, this is what they're building, you people need to lock in.
Is there anything you might need?
I would also like to know that.

but it's by an external team as well that's doing an audit,
and they're talented auditors.
The other thing that we wanted to make sure, and a handful of people told us this,
you've got to accept fiat.
You've got to allow people to come onto your site and use Apple Pay to pay.
Because people are going to be buying into this.
Yeah, there are going to be a bunch of crypto degens and treegens,
and there are going to be a bunch of speculators who are native crypto.
But there are also a lot of people who care about crypto,
or who care about the air, that aren't in crypto.
So you've
got to accept fiat. So that's another thing that we're working on right now where people could
come in, they go to PBX, they see this is the best thing financially that people can put their
money towards to improving the air and making money while they're at it. And they can pay with
Apple Pay. That's our aim to have that when we launch.
And what do we need? I mean, right now, our number one priority is focusing on how do we grow this
thing. We're bringing in money so we can grow this thing. And we're putting a lot of our resources.
We've closed a number of KOLs who are very selective on what projects they go in.
And the other thing to list is like every single investor, every single KOL, every single team member is on serious lockups.
Like kind of unheard of in the crypto realm because this is a serious project and we don't want this to be a race to who dumps first.
We're just going to make it impossible for that to happen.
18 months lockup, 30 months vesting, and we're bringing in these KOLs so that like who even
buy up the charts and they promote them and they stick around for the long haul.
So having your help in spreading the word having your help and
whatever means that you can help us grow pbx like we're not going to be able to do this on our own
we'll only do this by building a community by joining other communities and we have so much
to learn on that realm on how the hell do we grow this thing. We have a whole bunch of ideas, but those get tested as we launch.

I guess my one concern about betting on this stuff is how do you help keep people from
betting on bad and making it happen? Like my personal thing is I'm going to bet on good
and I'm going to make that happen.
That's just who I am, what I want to do.
But there are people on the other side
that would be like, money.
How do you stop those bad actors?
I guess is my largest question.
Yeah.
It is something that has kept me up at night
on how to think, how to solve this structurally.
And there are a few answers that I do hold.
And so one is the status quo is if we do nothing, what is helping protect us?
And the rule of law is one.
And the rule of law doesn't apply everywhere or as strongly everywhere.
everywhere or as strongly everywhere but at least in the US like somebody could
go short a company and do something that would cause harm to that company's
balance sheet and then they could close their position and the reality is that
at least visibly that doesn't happen that often and people also tend to get
held accountable and go to jail for committing those
crimes and not able to hold their proceeds so that's one that's the kind of baseline the other
mechanism that we are looking at is being mindful about which like there are things that we can do that could limit, how do we say this?
We essentially close the markets.
Let's say there's a wildfire that's happening in a region or nearby.
We can stop a market from running.
And that can help prevent people from profiting from starting a wildfire or shorting a region, starting a wildfire and profiting from it.
But when we notice there's a wildfire starting and it's declared as a potential wildfire, we can stop the market running for a handful of hours.
a handful of hours, it might have to be a few days, and that will prevent people from profiting
from extreme cases where malicious behavior might happen. And this is something that we will
explore as the market grows. At the start, it's something that we don't have to be concerned about.
We have to just be concerned about growing the market, but know that this is something that I'm keeping in mind
because I started this to make the air better,
not to create a mechanism for a bunch of people
to illegally and criminally make a bunch of money.
Yeah, I'm satisfied with that.
I get it. It's hard.
I have to put trust in somebody in the government,
somebody that's out there enforcing laws and keeping people from doing the worst of it very often. And you said you got to put some kind of safety plays in it. I know that that is that is often my concern when it comes to these, you know, these kind of things is and like, honestly, with everything that you can bet on on on like even the poly markets and stuff already,
I am often very concerned that people are just going to be like,
let's, you know,
make set up something ridiculous and then make that ridiculousness happen.
Um, because you know,
that seems to be what people are wanting to do is just like whatever they can
do to, to get ahead or whatever they think they can do to get ahead so i appreciate that you put thought into it you know thanks for answering
you bet it's an important question thank you for asking it
yeah it's cool that you got those safety you know procedures to to turn it off
in in that worst case scenario so that they don't. And yeah, maybe
having those like warning signs like, hey, if you're trying to do this, we will shut it off
and prevent you from making the monies so that they don't try it and then find out after. So
yeah, it's good that you're giving a lot of thought to that, you know, very carefully because
yeah, there's always some really shady people out

information that you can use to make an educated decision on should you invest in this token
