Thank you. Thank you. so
ん Hey, Mike, I'll give you the co-host.
There you go.
Let me know if he's just working. cool
notice you sent it and that one didn't work. Yeah, the timing was the same, so they did a weird
bug or something.
What's up, Shamix? Thanks for
hanging out with us early, dude.
I'll admit.
I hope you have more notes,
because I actually am ill-prepared.
Terribly so.
I would admit, I was eating a hamburger three minutes ago.
Today fucked me up.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.
I was literally sitting down with the team eating a hamburger, and then Cachet mentioned it.
I was like, oh, I'll see you guys later.
And I ran all the way.
We're here.
I have notes. There ran. We're here.
I have notes.
There's a lot going on.
How are you guys feeling?
How are we feeling?
I'm alright.
I feel like I've never had as much agency in my life.
I don't like you.
I feel like a convict who got freed and now he doesn't know how to be free.
You know, it's something I learned many years ago.
Maybe this is just because I've worked freelance so much,
but just embrace the uncomfort, man.
You'll be all right.
I think so.
That's part of the fun of life, to be honest.
All right, so let's see.
Part one, Ethereum is moving towards privacy.
So like this... That's the old stuff.
I did not get time to update that at all.
That's the old stuff.
We're talking about today, crypto use during wartime.
Yeah, the main topic, I thought we...
Privacy was last...
So Ethereum was updated.
I thought I updated this.
Or maybe I had notes somewhere else and meant to copy and paste it over,
but today kind of threw me through a whirlwind.
So hold on here.
Yeah, that's a good topic.
So today, I thought, you know, it's kind of a heavy topic.
Don't want to... Well, you know, it's a free space.
Anyone could say anything.
But it's, you know, we've noticed that during the Iranian conflict,
like once America started bombing Iran, unfortunately,
you know, the Iranian exchanges, the revenue that started buying Tether
and Bitcoin and other, you know, other digital assets just spiked heavily.
We've seen this in Ukraine as well.
So it's just an interesting topic, I think.
I know it's not a fun one, but it's definitely a real-world use case where, unfortunately, people encounter war.
at least a real world use case where, you know, unfortunately people encounter war.
And then, you know, luckily because of crypto, they're able to, you know, at the very least
use it to move around.
Like, I know that people were donating to Ukraine during the Ukrainian war with Bitcoin.
You know, obviously you can't send them bank wires.
Some of the banks were literally blown up.
So it's just an interesting topic, you know. No, it's just it's an interesting topic you know
no it's a real stress test for um remittance right like i mean this is one of the arguments
i've had for so many years about what crypto is actually used for is remittance like
at the end of the day yeah bitcoin you can talk so much shit about how slow it is and how
um you know it's not as private because the public ledger which you could still make the argument
for is a useful thing but the point being is strip out all the nonsense oh you can't use it to buy
coffee fine i get it network fees can be 50 cents or more but at the end of the day there's nothing
better for remittance it completely gets rid of the need for something like a Western Union or something like that.
It's perfect for that.
And that's what we see it being used for, like you mentioned, for donations in wartime and things like that.
It's perfect.
There's no argument there.
Just a use case of, you know, you can't, let's say you're an Iranian and you want to get out of the country
and you're lucky enough to be, let's say, well off or you have a little bit of money. Let's say you're an Iranian and you want to get out of the country and you're lucky enough to be, let's say, well off or you have a little bit of money.
Let's say you have investments.
That's what a lot of people do have.
You're not going to be able to take those investments with you.
You can't liquidate your gold bars.
That's another thing I should add is that the Iranian forgot what they call their currency.
I think it's the real.
I think it's the real.
It completely went to zero.
It completely went to zero.
So a lot of people had a little bit of money in assets and investments and such.
And so you're able to liquidate and take your money with you.
You can't carry cash.
You can't carry gold bars.
You can't access an ATM sometimes, which is, I guess, remittance.
Yeah, yeah.
It's the whole idea of being able to store large sums of money and transfer them to another party without governing bodies, without having to carry bags of cash and things like that. That's ultimately what it's a perfect situation for.
And then, I mean, Iran has heavy sanctions on it, and they aren't allowed to use the banking system, the SWIFT system, which is the legacy system.
So a lot of them are pivoting towards crypto.
So in that sense, like in kind of a little window looking in, it's kind of nice.
It's kind of helping humanity in a sense.
Sure. Do you have notes somewhere that i can kind of hijack i can't find i
swear i wrote stuff down but i did not get i researched the topic heavily but i didn't get to
uh put notes down so yeah my apologies
down so yeah my apologies all right well um do we have an announcements and stuff like light
crowd so you know what let me let me yeah let's circle back to the announcement part um so shamix
i'm glad you're here i know we had one other person um So, Crystal Frontlines, what are we on, 12?
Yeah, I've been doing this for a little while.
Let's introduce.
So, I'm Michael, head of the customer success team over here at Edge.
I'm joined by RJ, head of quality insurance, and then the man of so many hats, Alberto.
How do you go, guys? Which I think you want less hats, Alberto. I'll be all, guys.
Which I think you want less hats, right?
We're going to give you less hats.
More important, prettier hats, maybe.
I don't know.
As long as I have a hat on,
I'm happy at this point.
As far as announcements are concerned, 4.44 just came out, right?
Anyone want to kind of go over the features that were introduced?
Excuse me. Am I still on mute?
Yeah, I'll talk over it a little quick. So yeah, last week we have a few new assets.
We have tech channels, so the Mychain, Monad, MN, OBV, and then a few of the various fixes
maintenance here and there.
But those are pretty much the big four that came out in terms of new features for users.
Yeah, but four actual new assets that we can use as well.
And this Friday or tomorrow,
we're supposed to have 4.45 up,
so expect a 4.45 put up next week,
which, you know,
the dive's a little bit more into NIM,
some fixes for NIM,
privacy mode,
and maybe anything that will seem to get better. And Op B&B is interesting.
That's a layer two on Binance, right?
That's kind of interesting.
Yeah, that's right, actually.
That's interesting.
So they have their own layer two now.
And do you understand what the Git is for the OpBnB?
Why did they release that?
Is it just like the wrapped ETH kind of situation?
I don't know.
I'm still trying to understand why.
Yeah, why would Binance need an L2?
I know why ETH needed an L2.
I don't fully comprehend why they would need an L2.
That's a good question.
Let's do a little quick research.
I mean, so like I remember when I was introduced to wrapped ETH on ETH and I was like, what the hell is this for?
Then I finally got it because of like the NFTs and like internal transactions and things like that.
But the op BNB, didn't they already have RAPs of some sort?
So I don't understand what the layer two is for.
I guess it's the same concept, lower fees, massive scaling.
Because, I mean, BNB is not super expensive
like ETH, but it is, you know, a few
I guess they want even cheaper fees and
even better scaling.
That's essentially
the same reason why ETH has a bunch of
Fair, fair, fair.
Oh, and then we did add NIMH. nim i mean we kind of skewed over that but uh correct me if i'm wrong there isn't a way to trade into it right now yeah the nim is you know there it's on many
different chains but there's just not a lot of uh liquidity pools i think we all we have found one
partner i think that we are going to be adding a new exchange plugin so hopefully yeah soon there'll be ways
to actually swap into it so for now you can receive your name on the native name
token on the native network and then also I think we have ethereum nim and i think there's even a binance yeah so hopefully soon you'll be able to have more support for trading when it comes to nim
then me being the the terrible terrible support person I am.
Monad, what does it get there?
Monad is just another ETH L2.
It had a lot of support from...
I forgot which large investor,
but essentially just another L2.
Had a lot of buzz around it. I haven't played with Monad a lot lately, not lately, but essentially just another L2. Had a lot of buzz around it.
I haven't played with Monad a lot lately, not lately, but at all.
So I don't know, but I just know it's another hyped up L2
that had like a lot of big backing, like a big VC backing.
I mean, you're kind of quietly saying what we're all thinking,
just another L2, but let me see what's actually happening here.
Yeah. another l2 but let me see whether let me see what's actually happening here um yeah and at this point i mean eth is so like you know like it works so well that the l2s are kind of like well
i don't know well i mean so i know that a lot of it is almost like test that kind of thing to see
what else can be done um and some of them are easier to build on. So I don't want to just be that dismissive. I want to make that clear.
And obviously the chain was desired enough for us to add it and by our community. So nothing against you guys. But I just, I don't know anything about it. The L2s have been rolling out at such a rapid pace. It's hard for me to keep up on what their value is. It's impossible to keep up.
Yeah, I don't know.
I wonder what is... I mean, there was a lot of...
There's a decent community around Monad,
and there's a lot of hype and interest in it.
I didn't...
I don't mean to downplay it at all by saying another L2,
but there are many L2s.
It's just the way to phrase it.
You know, trading, gaming, social apps, high-frequency DeFi.
Its throughput was kind of what I remember being celebrated as like 10K transactions per second,
one-second block times, very low fees.
And, you know, not all the L2s are cheaper, to be honest.
Like, if you do, do like i think zk sync
i think it is it's pretty i mean it get expensive like it can become not sub pennies you know um
expensive meaning like anything more than 25 cents in my opinion is expensive for a transaction
so it's like it so you know monads you know faster or cheaper so it does have something to offer
cheaper so it does have something to offer
all right and then let's see
what else we have in here so tokenized matrix event what is that
do you know anything about the tokenized matrix event i would have to ask shimmy um i don't
know about the tokenized matrix event i know we have a an event coming up um called the march
mingle with a san diego dev community um the event is on the website if you are anyone in san
diego or california or curious about about at all, you can go onto our website,
edge.app, and then go to events,
and then you'll see it right there,
the March Mingle.
I'm not 100% sure on the token matrix.
I should...
Many hats, guys.
I'm sorry.
I'm so sorry.
I should know this.
I should honestly know this,
but off the top of my head,
I'm sorry.
So it looks like Web3, San Diego, tokenized matrix.
Also, it's in San Diego, and it's more or less just an EVM event.
EVM event.
And let's see.
the lack of show notes,
I just messaged you, Alberto.
What do you guys think?
You want to offer ShamX an opportunity to speak if they'd like to and call it?
I mean, today's just kind of one of those weird days.
Any apologies to anyone listening?
And ShamX, thank you for hanging out with us.
It's just everyone who got a cut off guard today, I think.
Unfortunately, we were stuck in some meetings that kind of went over our show note and prep time that we were not able to forego.
So it kind of made us woefully ill-prepared for this, and I do apologize for that.
ill-prepared for this, and I do apologize for that.
How are you doing, Sean?
Let me give you...
You want to say anything before we sign off?
What's up?
Yeah, I do have a question.
Have you guys done with the ambassador programs already finished, I guess?
Can you say that again?
There was a little static.
The ambassador program has all that been wrapped up.
The master program?
I'm not sure.
Ambassador. Ambassador.
As far as I know, the last thing that
Shimmy had said, yeah, they were
it's not wrapped up, but
it's in the home stretch, which I know
we've been saying that since last year, since January. But it's in like the home stretch which i know we've been saying that since last year since january but it really is in the home stretch i think she's literally like
like soon like gonna be announced and finalized i i think it's already done to be honest i
i'm not 100 sure but it's it's
i want to say that yeah the selections have been made and I'm not sure what the delay is.
It's pretty much just
little last bit finalizations,
whatever they're doing.
It's soon, hopefully soon.
People might already know, to be honest.
I'm not totally sure what the status is.
Hey, Satoshi, we have one more listener.
It's a light.
Yeah, it's light.
And actually, it's kind of nice.
Of all days for it to be light on listeners, perfect day.
I think so.
So Satoshi, just so you know, we're light and I just mentioned that we had some meetings that went over our normal prep time.
So unfortunately, we had some ideas for the show that we were hoping were going to pan out.
But I'll be the first to admit, woefully ill-prepared, just not read up on current events and things like that, like I normally am for these events.
So an opportunity to you to speak if you'd like.
Any questions for us?
I'm down to hang out for a while.
I do have an open-ended question for the couple of listeners here.
Do you have any experience with Intercom?
I'm most likely switching our support team over to that. I know it's totally not crypto related, but any downsides or anything like that, I'll throw some questions out to people listening to that.
And if not, like I said, we can call it. Give it another five minutes.
You got requests from Sat satoshi what's up
satoshi let's see uh at a speaker there you go you're interested in intercom yeah yeah um i've Yeah, I've been in the trial now for a little bit, and Zendesk is making some changes that I actually, as a privacy person and as an employee of Edge, don't like.
For example, they're requiring email now starting Monday to submit a ticket.
I've reviewed pretty much all of those um i can do a lot of this live
so let me know if you can fill anything yet sorry say that again i'm doing some updates live okay
with intercom uh the entire edge wallet
yeah you lost me so michael's rolling out a new like intercom for a support team and where users
can reach out with that intercom is kind of an ai thing but it's requiring users can reach out with that. Intercom is kind of like an AI thing,
but it's requiring users to sign up with an email.
I was hoping this guy knew all about Intercom.
I was so excited.
The one person.
I know Intercom quite well.
Yeah, I'm doing pretty much all these updates telepathically so sweet
i thought you'd go about the email requirement
is that any friction
uh the encryption yeah i saw a lot of those different types of uh
I saw a lot of those different types of things.
I don't mean if I feel about the email requirement within our home, is that, you know, a friction when dealing with the email requirements?
I've seen some of those come through.
I'll finish up.
You should probably see something later on today.
So I have all of your requests, and I can see pretty much all of you
telepathically
so I'll get those done
and then just try to like
something on my Twitter page
if you notice a difference later
I'll hit you up telepathically
I'll let you know
I'll put some thoughts out
alright thank you
yeah no worries
alright All right. Thank you. Yeah, no worries.
All right.
So we call it?
Yeah, I think so.
That's our key.
All right.
Catch you guys.
On the next one.
We'll see you soon. Two weeks.
Peace out, guys.
