A lot of people miss that.
I knew a lot of people were going to miss that
just the moment I named myself that.
W stands for Unleashed Unchained, which is just like, you know, best version of yourself.
You know, the easiest way to put it.
But I'm an experimental hip-hop artist out of New York, New York City specifically, NYC.

And I've been making music since I was 16.
I'm 26 now.
And I'm a rapper, producer, engineer, singer, songwriter.
Yeah, you name it, I do it.
I can play a couple instruments, but
well, definitely not.
But yeah, I'm a bit
of a

Not all the way, but definitely a bit.
Because I can go stretch wide, but I can go deep with like the creation aspect.
And I asked for people who don't know me, the way I got into Web3 was through my managers
all, my homeboys all, we met in college, just similar friend groups.
And we just hit it off you know smoked
a lot of weed together um and then over the years we kind of realized way on a sec like
we have a more common than we thought like let's just hang out around that time i was telling him
yo i'm about to drop like my first song or whatever the fuck like yo like i was like
you think you can help me
and nigga was like yeah absolutely bet like yeah like and so we started talking around because he
was cool with the dj at this country club that we used to all go to to party at because um that was
the spot that all the college kids went to they had a college night on ths, Thursday nights. And I got my little first little release party at that country club.
And it was very, very, very late.
It was way more lit than I ever anticipated it being, like, honestly.
Like, but, yeah, it was fun.
It was a great time.
And then from there, we've been tapping ever since.
So I got into web three at some
point and i want to say 2023 um and then from there he deep dove he met some people who helped
him network into deeper parts of the scene and get acclimated and you know um to like uh the
customs and the culture right and then from there know, we started making our own moves, you know,
with Z-Town Agency, you know,
Zao Dao, Zalpalooza, Zalchella, you know.
And obviously we couldn't do it without collaborators.
Like Candy, I see you in the building.
Obviously without Hurricane, you know,
basically one of the founding fathers of Wave Wars
and the founding father of music battles
in web 3 like just straight up the founding father like if you're looking for like the
george washington of this shit it's hurricane like it really is right um and yeah that's that's
kind of how we all went right so like i met Hurricane for the first time in real life back in April 2024 for Zalpalooza,
which was during NFT NYC, and that was hilarious.
Great time.
Ended up staying with my homeboy, Smoke Wavy, in that random hotel or not.
In Weehawken or something like that.
Whatever the place was called.
But yeah, it was right by the city. It was fun.
It was so much fun. But yeah.
So, as far
as I know, guys, this is Wave Wars
Live's Traded Song vs. Song Battles.
It's gonna be
what, three rounds
of three
songs or two songs. So, one song
versus another song.
The way I chose my songs were
by like era that i made them in right so we're going to start off with my origins cracks these are tracks that are like very fundamentally important to who i am as an artist and tracks
that made me the artist i am today um and you're going to get to see a little bit of an evolution
you know over the course of time
and see like oh this is how dango developed evolved as an artist and you're gonna see like
it's a multi-faceted thing right so it's not like a linear progress or progression excuse me um it's
very much a branching constantly branching out in different directions type of development. But yeah, you're going to see this.
It's going to be fun.
The first round is going to be my origin tracks, right?
Like I said, stuff that made me the artist that who I am today.
Both of these songs I wrote, you know, before COVID even happened.
Or at least the first versions of them.
And you're going to be hearing the current versions I have of both of these
songs because one thing about me, I'm a bit picky,
just like never good enough type of person.
Like I've put out songs, re-released them,
and then re-released them a second time.
Like it's really like that for me.
Because if I think I can do better, I will try.
Whether or not I can do better is a different story, right?
But I will always try to do better if I can.
And especially if I think I can.
And even more so if I'm unhappy with how it came out the first

This is a level of detail, attention to detail
and dedication to the craft that I have that I,
I do my best to really kind of cultivate that
and keep that as a core part of who I am as an artist.
Just being able to iterate on stuff and
get the absolute best that you can. I think that's how all great ideas are made. You don't
just think of a great idea and it's just all great and like that's how it came to you. Usually it
started off from something kind of dumb or kind of hard to execute you kind of
created something that was doable and then made it cooler over time and refined it more over time
you know eventually um you know you cut the wheat from the shaft and you know, you get oatmeal and shit like that. Right. Like super duper refined.
You cut the diamond out the rock, you know,
you carve the sculpture out the stone and that's kind of how I see my music.

jango.com um basically the nft is a the original demo of my first release song ever wide awake.
The very first demo I ever made that I mixed in audacity that I recorded on my phone with
an auto tune app that, um, that I still use to this day.
The app is fantastic for like recording on the go.
Like it's pretty good.
I'm not gonna lie.
It sounds pretty
dope um but yeah like so basically that's the nft and for anyone who cops it i will send you
the official version the official wave file that's being released on spotify uh distribution
or excuse me streaming distribution platforms as well as the current version of the song that I have currently
mixed and re-recorded and whatnot back in November 2024, just because I felt like it.
Just because it was like, yo, I want to see how much better I've gotten in five years
and see if I could do this song the way i remembered it in my head
right and so i mixed it then i mastered it then you know and yeah like so for anyone who buys
the original nft um it's a 0.004 eth i believe um which should translate to about $10 USD. Yeah, there's only 10 left.
Or, excuse me, there's only 8 or 7 left, I think.
But the point is, if you get those, I will airdrop you personally the other two.
Basically, the other two are free.
All you have to do is get the first nft that's it
that's it and then that way you have all you can see just like pull yourselves like have it
like yo like the evolution it's like the change the growth you know so yeah um it was fun honestly
like mixing making those three songs is obviously the first time making it
2019 special moment like i remember that was the first song where i showed my friends and they're
like oh you can like make like real songs like because at that point i made a couple songs
they're like stupid gimmicky songs like they're like mostly funny right mostly just like um just like inside jokes about the
friend group and whatnot and like you know we all laughed at it right like it was fun right it was
fun um now granted i had also had been writing songs at that point for three years basically so
my a lot of my friends at the time just didn't understand like just how
how tapped into music i was at that point honestly i didn't even realize how
tapped and i wasn't at that point either um it was just something i just beat a lot um but
regardless i made that song pretty much July 4th.
Yeah, July 4th I made it.
And then I put it all together that July 5th.
And then I went to go hang out with my friends who had just drove down from upstate to hang out in the city for like a week.
No, two weeks actually.
So I showed them, well, i texted them the song while they were
driving and they blasted in the car and they were like oh like you you could structure a song like
like put together a song like like this is this is we we weren't expecting this like it feels like a song like actually there's an idea and it's like clear
and you know it it follows along and it's like not it's like properly timed and you're not off
key and you know like all the things that make like good music like able to be palatable in the
first place, right?
If it's like that type of music,
because obviously there's also like good music
that's like intentionally meant to like not be palatable,
not be immediately tolerable on first listen, right?
But I don't really think any new artist has a problem
making that type of music at at the start like that's probably
the easiest type of music to make because you don't know anything is you're just bad you know
um but at the time my friends like yo like this is this is good this is this is actually catchy
like what the hell um and so that was very important to me because that kind of was like
oh i can like actually like, I can do the thing.
I can do things with this music stuff.
Like, let's see what else I can do pretty much.
Right.
Um, but so that happened, that was very important.
And then seeing that song all the way through the first time when I officially released
it on February 20th, 2020,
like that was the second wave where it's like, whoa,
like I took it from this little phone recording I had where I like put the beat and the phone, the phone vocals and the beat together on Nasty.
So like I recorded it in the studio. I got it mixed.
I got it mastered. And like,
it sounds like other music I listen to, and I was
being played in front of, like, 300 people on a Thursday night, and, like, everyone's dancing,
and it's like, like, oh, wow, I didn't know my music could do all this either, right? And then
the third time was, like, going back, you know, because obviously there were a lot of things I wasn't all the way sold on.
But I also knew, like, when I was, like, making the official track, there were a lot of things about the sound.
I just didn't know how to explain to the engineer at the time because I was so new, right?
I was just lucky that he was good enough to do a good job anyway.
And for that, I'm actually super grateful. I didn't really know how to explain that tonally I was looking for something
that was clear enough to be heard, but wasn't bright and like sizzling.
like sizzling and um like i wanted the atmosphere and the um like like like like a like a roomy
ambient well not really ambient but like uh a roomy ethereal soundscape um i wanted the reverb
i wanted the the widening and stuff like that as opposed to like um a more radio ready crispy
polished type of sound like i wasn't really
looking for that at the time um but i didn't know how to express that right and so going back to it
for that third time was me doing that for myself because over the last five years i've learned that
ability to do that for myself and i was able to get a result that i was more than happy with um now
at this point it's been eight months since i mixed that version and i still like it i still think it's
good and usually it doesn't really go like that for me so yeah like i still enjoy it yeah so i'm i'm like i said the original nft is the original demo
that i made in july 5th or i made that i uh finished making on july 5th 2019 and then
you would get at once you buy that you get two free nfts you just have to um i'll be able to
send them to you via airdrop or whatever other means to the site on Third Web,
where basically you just get the official release version
that's still on streaming platforms to this day,
and the new version that I kind of like mix for myself.
So you could like call it a Django's version, if you will.
Like, you know, a Taylor's version for all her albums.

Because, yeah, we can do artists versus artists all the time.
But it's like, yo, can we really like let's also branch out and, you know, get deeper
into each artist as well.

So, we're going to start with my origins, my origin stories, the things that made me the
artist who I am.
So that battle is going to be between the fully powered up, maxed out stats versions, the Django editions of South of the City and Wide Awake.
Both of these songs I made before COVID hit.

South of the City was made while COVID was hitting.
But both of these songs were made before 2021. I'll give you that. I'll give
you that. And if I'm to be all the way real with myself, both of these songs were really made
before like June 2020. But basically both of these songs are indicative of where I was at that point
in my career, just figuring out how to be good melodically, how to be catchy, how to be infectious,

and how to set a vibe, right? I think Wide Awake was more about setting a vibe and having a general
experience of like, you know, how being wired off substances can feel, south of the city is way more storytelling and
just like an exercise in songwriting and arrangement um given the fact that it's way more
just like uh driven as far as like a tale like there's like there's an actual story that song specifically being about um
messing with a girl who was in a relationship at the time i was messing with her um come on bro

You know, we're going to be way more electronic. And so we're going into
my most recent EP release, The Synth Rock Concept Volume 1, which was really just like a demonstration
of an idea that I've been having since about 2021, if not low-key earlier. Like, realistically, probably around the time
when I, like, first made South of the City
was when I really started thinking about beats like these
and productions like these and this type of sound.
I had a friend who made EDM music.
Well, we don't call him a friend no more.
I knew somebody who made EDM music.

new to being able to explain it to other people in a way that they could understand.
Now, granted, this guy definitely understood what I was looking for and just actively refused

enjoyed making music with them. But it wasn't exactly what I wanted.
I knew I was looking for like this weird type of electronic,
like borderline industrial, industrial dance music type of beat.
And then I found this random kid from Amsterdam, New Netherlands.

And at the time, he was like, what, 20?
And I was 20.
It was my 23rd birthday um i got this b-pack from this kid
he's just like dm me he was small at the time he had under a thousand followers i had under a
thousand followers i actually have i remember i followed him first because he had done some work
for another producer that i liked um but basically

9 a.m in the morning right and these two songs are from that era dual wield and sunrider so

me his name is ryan but um yo he's like my biggest fan i've ever had like he's like like he used to
dm me every day he's like yo you gotta send me more music, bro. You're so good.
It was crazy to me because I had never known this kid from anywhere.
I never met him.
He just found my music one day on Twitter, and then he was like, yo, you're awesome.

When I think about my reasoning for like, y'all, like, why am I getting better? Obviously it's always like a reason of like, well,
I want to get better. Right. I want to put more music out. I want to, you know, pursue just having
a career in music. But to say that the little things like that guy from Tunisia, who was like
reaching out to me so early on in my career telling me that he loved
my stuff and that I was his number one artist of the year for 2020 by a long shot too yeah like
spun yeah bumped my music like for literally like 10,000 minutes or something ridiculous it was
insane like it was literally insane um but to say like that didn't impact me at all and why I keep doing this could be a lot.
I was very fortunate in a way to just even have those experiences.
And for that, I'm very grateful.
